I am a Cisco Certified CCNP Wireless Engineer but I still find the CCNA labs Keith has put together really helpful for running through Wireless setups etc and blowing off any cobwebs, if you don't use it you lose it when it comes to configuring network devices. He uses a great learning tool in the shape of Packet Tracer and builds on it with a great teaching style and really in depth subject knowledge. Keith has an excellent attitude to teaching and learning and it really shows in his relaxed style and ability to explain subject matter in easy to understand terms, keep up the good work.

Sir, What is the difference between WLAN SSID & Profile Name at 1:02:02 . If they are same, why Cisco given option to save two separate names for same WLAN ?? Hope you will reply, Rest is fine & I got it. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for the question PRANJAL SHARMA. The SSID value is what the user sees as the WiFi name, and the profile name is internal to the WLC configuration.
At 19:45 , when you said, in packet Tracer you always click off, then back on, then off because there's no OK button, I laughed, because I do the exact same thing, for the same reason. Lol.
you can use EVe-ng and use virtual controller in it. Use a physical switch and a physical AP to connect to the virtual AP in EVE. Search youtube on how to do it.

great video - but what was the work around for the trunk connection from MLS to the WLC in packet tracer ? - I noticed on the MLC that you've specified the native VLAN for the trunk.

Does your CCNA wireless course contain deep dive in to Wireless fundamentals, Spectrum modulations, Antennas, RF math etc ? Studiying for Encor and since have never worked with Wireless, thatswhy trying to go through establishing fundamentals strong. Thanks

Thank you for the question Kolezka Kolezki. The AP doesn't need to be in the same VLAN as the WLC. As long as they have reachability over IP to each other, that is enough to support the CAPWAP tunnel, and all the traffic they would send back and forth over that tunnel.

Under WLC he configured ip on management interface and connected gi interafce to switch . Does that means management and Gi interface are under same vlan . Pls let me know .
Keith what if its a windows server acting as a dhcp server? How does the server know which scope to use when handing out addresses to the different vlans?

Can you explain the use of the management interface vlan id? What information does it tag? I understand that the SSIDs from the APs are connected to a dynamic interface and tagged that way.
Thank you for the question Nufael Nasir. The WLC in a real environment will be connected to a switch, via a trunk port on the switch. Which ever VLAN you want to used for the Managment interface, that is when it would be used, as the tag associated with the Mgmt interface. You would use different VLANs (other than the mgmt vlans) for the dynamic IPs and their VLANs associated with the WLANs (SSIDs).

I tried this Pkt lab and i am able to do the first basic config on the WLC from the PC, both of which are connected through the multi-layer switch. but after that i am not able to reach the WLC. It awlays says Request Time Out. What should i do?
Thank you Euris Santana, PT doesn't support it but in production, you would trunk from the switch to the WLC, and on the WLC associate a dynamic interface, which associated with a specific VLAN, to each of the SSIDs.
Thank you for the question Sivasakthi. Fortunately, one of the preferred OS is some flavor of Linux, and likely the Kali distribution. As a result, the CPU/HW resources are low. As a result, a high end laptop isn't really needed. You would want to check which wireless adapters work with the hacking/pen-testing tools, and make sure your laptop either has one that is supported, or use an external one that is supported by those tools.

I tried this Pkt lab and i am able to do the first basic config on the WLC from the PC, both of which are connected through the multi-layer switch. but after that i am not able to reach the WLC. It awlays says Request Time Out. What should i do?
Keith, how would you set it up if you have multiple VLAN?
Thank you Euris Santana, PT doesn't support it but in production, you would trunk from the switch to the WLC, and on the WLC associate a dynamic interface, which associated with a specific VLAN, to each of the SSIDs.

Thank you for the question Sivasakthi. Fortunately, one of the preferred OS is some flavor of Linux, and likely the Kali distribution. As a result, the CPU/HW resources are low. As a result, a high end laptop isn't really needed. You would want to check which wireless adapters work with the hacking/pen-testing tools, and make sure your laptop either has one that is supported, or use an external one that is supported by those tools.
Really appreciated your reply Keith. Could i do other network simulations like firewall, load balancers, routing in kali linux? Is Macbook air worth to buy ? Or please suggest any other laptop models or specifications or what laptop your using.. many thanks
