I think Prince William and Kate have conducted themselves with the utmost dignity and propriety and they deserve the respect of all of us. We loved Diana and we love her sons. We are so happy that he has found a steady love and we look forward to the good things he will bring to England and to the rest of the world.

My God how is there so much hate for the royals? They don't even do anything anymore, they're figureheads and I for one admire their class and grace. Kate Middleton looks like she could be a true princess and I wish her and Prince William all the best.
Congradulations to the Royal couple. Kate is a beautiful and amicable young lady and William will be a strong and compassionate king.
It's uncanny how much he resembles his mother in his voice and expressions.
In any case, I hope they're happy.

I am very happy for them. When I first heard the news that they broke up then this magazine made some news about how William found another girl I kinda felt that Kate Middleton was better and now they are engaged. Well good for them.
Congratulations Wills and Kate!! Obviously, William has taken great pains to ensure that Kate is protected and more aware of "the spotlight" so much better than his Mum was....He strikes me as a very good and kind person who cares very much for those he's close to and those he can give a leg up to. I see a much brighter future for this sparkling royal couple. I'm sure Diana is smiling. :)
Why are some people so jealous. Cause they're glamorous, rich, most importantly look happy and satisfied with their lives? Just be happy for them.

@watchMEshyne Actually, Diana was a royalist. Old letters showed how much she wanted the monarchy to survive, and to modernize as well. That's what she started: the modernization of the monarchy, not its demise. The same reason why her sons are serving in the army and helping homeless people. Their mother taught them that, and trained them for their roles as the future king and princes of UK.
@writerbabe1 I agree. He might be future King of England but he's still a lad that lost his mum. I was touched when I saw the ring.
These two are using each other, completely. She wants him for obvious reasons, and he wants her because her desperation for wealth and the 'Princess of Wales' title means she'll put up with anything the royal family throws at her. Unlike Diana, Kate adores her fame as long as she's dressed/fixed up properly. There's not a single inkling of affection or emotional connection shown between the two in this interview. Aren't most couples in love more touchy-feely or emotional when they get engaged?

Well, at least this time it's TRUE love. I feel so sorry for Diana, but it makes me happy to think that she's smiling down at her son right now.

I don't agree that there should be a royal family in this day and age but I have to admit William is charming.
Now she has got what she has been fighting for during 8 years… a crown. She has no love in her eyes, no shine inside… like 18 years old Diana had- she was filled with love and shine during her first interview after the engagement. This girl is only warming her hands for grabbing the crown. Really sad!!!! Love to all of us, really as we can see it can’t be bought even if you are a prince.

So much anger and bitterness on here. I'm not a royalist but I'm guessing most of the people complaining spend most of their lives siting on the sofa rather than getting a proper job. Constantly watching bad TV and complaining about how the government owes them a favor.
You guys need to calm down, I might live in America but that doesn't mean I give a crap about politics.
I'd personally feel weird wearing a ring that his dad gave his mom and they got divorced. I'd be a bit superstitious. Then again, I understand it is important to him being his mother's ring. Talk about catch 22!

@angiecanada well despite being nervous I think she handled it pretty darn well most people would just sit there and lsay nothing or eave it up to other person to talk but at least she spoke, at least she made an effort and a good impression.
I think its because alot of people don't know her that well and probably even a tad jealous, I'm sure with time speeches and interviews will become 2nd nature to her, Don't forget though Diana was just the same when she started out.

Kate's pretty and ok for a princess, but Diana was beautiful, inside and out. And everything about her just seemed sureal. When I think of princesses my mind always conjurs up with Diana's image, not Kate's. There's something about her that doesn't seem welcoming? I guess. Like with Diana or Princess Mary of Denmark, you want to know more about them because they seem friendly and approachable. I don't know why I feel like this towards Kate, I might change my mind in a year or so, but who knows.
@MatchCard Royal wedding's have always made money for the English economy, Charles and Diana was one of the biggest. It boosted the economy by millions of pounds, so did Andrew and Sarah. And we have not had a big royal wedding like this in years.

@MsMariah61 Yes, there will be comparisons, for sure, but I think she stands on her own. To his credit, Prince William has been a gentleman all the way along, and she will shine on her own. I just can't believe the hateful comments from the brits. Wow. too much negative energy wasted. Get a job and get on with your life, and be happy for someone who's in love. Isn't that what life's all about? Geez.

I think kickracistarse is venting a little at his/her own errors at not securing their own financial position before the GFC happened. I think your in a place in your life where you need a little sunshine, and thats just what this is take it back a notch and just enjoy a moment the simple thing of 2 people in love getting married. It's not up to them who pays there caught up in this. i bet that more than once willy and kate wished they were normal people just like us.
@DavyTom71 I think life as a Royal would be harder than the dreamworld people imagine it is. I for one don't envy them... they have less freedom than anyone. Living in the public eye from day 1 would be shit, end of. I admire people like the Queen who has literally given up their entire life in service to her country and personally I believe we should be proud of what the royal family stand for. They just sit there with their hands folded, like two petrified pieces of wood. This couple might 'love' each other - but their nonverbal cues clearly show that they are not at all 'in love'. Best of luck to them though - Hopefully their 'arrangement' of use and abuse, and lack of passion doesn't saddle the monarchy with another divorce to add to its record.

@jlya2012 are you kidding? The ring obviously has a lot of meaning to him, belonging to his mother who he loves very dearly. If I were Kate I would be honored to receive it (though others may consider it a bad omen, but I digress...).
All the best luck in the world to Catherine and William - they'll need it! I have every respect for the GB royals as they're incredibly hard working and do a hell of a lot for the country as well as having to put up with so much 'ill feeling' against them. For one I'd absolutey HATE to be constantly in the public eye and to have no privacy whatsoever - to carry out so many public functions in just one day when, perhaps, they're feeling less-than-energetic and would much prefer to be at home.

William could of done a lot better but each to his own. I agree she sees the name, title, and all that it brings.
@felang13 In some ways, you are correct. The Chinese and Indians are growing very rapidly in their economy. But you must also take into consideration the sheer numbers. The population of the US being 300 million is dwarfed by the Chinese number. Despite that, they still remain(ed) a powerful nation. That alone deserves some credit.
As for Canada, I'm still waiting for the day we are completely independent. I have nothing wrong with brits. It's just that I want our own President.
