I first heard this song on an old X-Files sound track when I was a kid. I believe the album was called "Sounds to the Key of X" or something like that. I love this song. 2:44 was always my favorite part. I would always repeat it on my old CD walkman.
hell yeah. i discovered it on the x files cd too, LOL. such good memories. always loved it. was only a little kid myself. always had damn good taste ;)
This is probably frank blacks most underrated track. Not too many people know about it, which sucks. This song is a great mood song. I love hearing Frank Black in this context.
First time I heard this song was on a mixed cd a friend sent me. My crew was sent home from work early because of snow. It took me better than an hour to get home in almost white out conditions. I left the cd on repeat and heard it probably 4 times. Managed to get to the store before they closed, bought s 12 pack of Red Stripe. Got home, cooked soup on my pot belly stove. Had a mountain of firewood in the living room and played this song a few more times. Just one of those songs that gets wedged into an awesome memory.
Awesome. I was a big fan when I was a teenager. I love the fact that the songs were chosen to represent the mood of the show, and not an actual soundtrack. It was a great collection, and the music fit in with the show all too well. My Dark Life and Man of Steel were my two favorites.
@@jesushernandezramirez7513 hello ramon i am answering your question a year late lol, but this song was included on an album songs in the key of x, it was a compilation of songs from and inspired by the tv show the x-files
I had that album too! Had a great selection, a fantastic Foo Fighters cover of Down in the Park and a Brian Eno collaberation with Elvis Costello called My Dark Life. I think it may have been called Songs in the key of X but im not sure.
Probably the best compilation album ever made to create a "feel" of a television show.....probably the only one. There are so many gems on this one that it is is in my top 30 albums of all time.....this one, Foo Fighters doing Gary Neuman, Meat Puppets, spoke word poetry, so much....so much and so underrated......
Classic. Always remind me of the WCR nights with Jo, Donna, Robbie and keV and our own show. If ur out there u know who u are. Our radio station exists no longer except in our memories.
Nevada the Perfect Hotspots are all over. I had an Encounter along with two truckers at Lockwood just before Mustang going east from Reno/Sparks on Hwy 80 at sunset one evening in August 2007, going home after work. One was astounded the other claimed He didn't see it yet it was right there! A Triangular Craft with 3 orange half domes under it (I think it's ours really the way it acted.) was hovering northwest of Clark Mountain. No anti-collision lights (Hey our Fighter Aircraft can turn theirs off too..) it was quiet, hovering, but my question is what were they looking for? From what I recall hearing 2-3 weeks later was a Gold Mine opened up.. Hmmm..... We may never know I was blasting this exact song because well, I was into X-Files, but this Blew my mind, and being a former Aviation Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class (AW) off of the USS Stennis CVN-74, I was looking for Tell Tale Military signs.. I have my thoughts on this sighting. MUFON and all others out there, this is a True story add it to your files I want to know. I have my views that yes, are considered religious, but there I believe to be 'Collaborations' we are not being told about. We will be told but it's going to be 'The Day of the Lord' when we do find out IMHO.
Frank Black's 'Oddballs' has just been re - released by his own record label 'the bureau'. This song appeared on the original release of 'Oddballs' in 2000. It's a compilation of bits and bobs he recorded between 94 - 97. A really brilliant compilation of rare out takes. Initially in 2000 it was only a limited release, so it's great that it's around again for those of us who missed out 1st time!! Love this song.
I've searched for this version for ages now. The song on Oddballs is slightly different. The drums are different from this version. I like this on here better. The drums are livelier in the mix.
One of the most underrated & unsung songs ever made
roee peretz I sing it all the time actually.
Underrated album.

"Songs in the Key of X" and I still have my copy from the 90's.
I still have mine, too. I got it the day it came out. Heh, remember record stores? :D
@@onewayturtles very well! Unfortunately those stores are a thing of the past it seems.
🤣🤣🤣 Me too!

Just might be my very favorite of his. Exceptional song. What a fade-out!
Songs in the Key of X is a stunning album and this song is the best of the bunch. The last 2 minutes are beautiful.

the last time I heard this was in 1996-97 when I was 12. gives me shivers

I came across this song fully by accident, and I never knew it was missing from my life.
Great song from a great artist.
Songs in the Key of X... great album... also has Down in the Park by Foo Fighters and Hands of Death by Rob Zombie

There IS a place.....!!!
Is "there" a place?
Great tune from a great musician...
2:45 onwards ... my ears go to heaven every time.
+Andre De Wet Agreed! When the guitar really comes forward and he keeps repeating "there is a place" , it's totally hypnotic...
Andre De Wet 3:50 for me for some reason
I was a kid when I first listened to this song and I will remember this moment forever.
Frank Black's UFO trilogy: Man of Steel, The Happening, Men in Black
The saddest superman song Am. Em a real tear jerker
Takes me back to the mid 90s
Classic. Always remind me of the WCR nights with Jo, Donna, Robbie and keV and our own show. If ur out there u know who u are. Our radio station exists no longer except in our memories.
2:45- 4:53 is just hypnotic magic.

I hear a fair amount of Link Wray's "Rumble" in the opening of this song.

Stephen Brown Could be worse... "Joe Yellow"?
ClassicRPGVideoGames Alol!
Rocket Queen sent me this.
B-)
nice
Awesome song, but it doesn't seem to have much to do with Superman...
Slick Vic nothing to do with Superman.
Man of Steel is not always a reference to superman
Gosh, can't a guy be made of steel without people assuming he's superman?
