Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing. Scott I didn’t expect to see you here. I am on my way to a detail. Using all those amazing strategies I learned from you!!
Well, since DPC doesn't make videos anymore...too busy with the product empire he has created...this is my new favorite detailing channel. J/K...hope all is well Scott.
Scott has been so helpful to so many of us with his videos and his time. I am deeply appreciative for the wisdom he has shared and the chuckles he's given us along the way!
I just subscribed to this channel because of your honesty. Seems like it’s becoming harder to find someone who will give an honest review on a product anymore. Many are just sponsored by the companies, and paid to say nice things.
Well i have a beast of compressor and a beast vacuum. This thing does wonder for me since i bought it. I guess you have other isues with hose cracked or something... i use it everyday for about 2 years now...
Thanks for the insight. I always thought something had to give when you blowing air in the same tube your sucking air, one just lowers the power of the other. Thanks for saving me money.
Ok here is where the vac is useful. With the canister installed and filled with an apc, the tornador sprays everywhere and makes a huge mess while it’s working(if that makes any sense 😂) the velocity vac keeps the liquid from making a huge mess. It does work well when used with the liquid. Try it out on vid #2! Great video but the tool does work better when using it how it was designed to work.
I hear that! it just seems crazy to me to spray an apc while vacuuming if dry soil removal is my goal. i don't want everything getting muddy. I might try this for door cleaning...
I can see your disappointment, but see this unit for what it really is and use it to its full potential. I've had my eye on this combo for a while now. You've helped me decide to get it. In my humble opinion, I would do a basic vacuuming first, to remove the big stuff..bear in mind, this is a "detail tool". After first vacuuming(and using a drill brush if necessary), I would then go to the problem areas and re-use a drill brush.. then the tornador. Give plenty of time for the compressed air(80-90 psi) to do its thing. You would by now be going after very set in and deep particulate. Slow and methodical is the way to go. If it still persists, now is when I would use the liquid function of this tool. Thanks for a great vid, you did quite well show a lot of the limitations, but at the same telling, you've convinced me I do need this in my arsenal.... Again, thank you very much.. Well done!
Can you give me an example of what do you mean by drill brush? Have a lot of dirt that gets in my car from mountain biking all over the southeast and I have a dog that sheds like crazy. Thanks in advance
I appreciate the honest review bro lol I’m a detailer as well and I’ve been looking at buying this. Just wanted to make sure it actually worked well before I did.
Bro, you screw the hose end into the supplied adapters... And those adapters are reverse threaded, there's no need for tape nor extra adapters from outside sources...
9:19 sounds like your quick connect is leaking. The sounds stops as soon as you pop it off. Maybe the loss of power and it draining your AC made it not as good as it could have been?
I couldn't really find many videos on this thing and now I see why.. thanks for the honest review. Maybe I should just stick with the tried and true methods
Thank you for saving me money. I have wanted one for years now, based on a review that showed this " magical" vacuum. 🤦🏻♀️ so disappointing! But even more grateful for your honesty!
If you think about what's happening here, you're getting excellent suction from the vacuum and not a great deal of air pressure entering into the carpets before the moving air is being drawn back up the hose into the vac. It sounded like your hose had a leak where your brass fitting was connecting to the tornador. I agree it's bulky; the head design has no need to branch off so sharply and as a by-product of this sharp branch off its introduced limitations in its reach into tight spaces. Increase the air flow, and either match or lower the suction power so you can let the compressed air flow in and do its job of lifting the dirt before being drawn up the vacuum tube. It's not gimmicky, it needs refining.
You're so right. I have a better compressor now (in a shop) and I'll bet this tool would be awesome if it were tuned up/tuned in/refined lol. But that day in my driveway was me being honest in the moment
It's just food for thought, remember it has a recommended maximum PSI and if you flow too much air through the tool it can also cause damage to the brass fittings and internal components. I'm really looking forward to you're upcoming content, and greetings from Australia. Detailers here battle a lot of dust and high temperature conditions, the more videos you have of this type of equipment helps us all. Don't be in too much of a rush to bring us content, sometimes a planned out step by step testing and preparation is needed to get a balanced test. One last thing, do you have a recommendation for a) a chemical that dissolves bulk sticker residue on large paint surfaces but doesn't negatively affect paintwork like harsher solvents do? b) a technique or chemical you would use for removing chewing gum and similar substances that can accumulate from neglect of vehicle combined with children?
Hey Fam, I’m not sure if anyone has reached out to you about this however your velocity vac is missing a part. The smaller elbow looking piece is what attaches to the vacuum. I have it attached to my 4gal ridgid 5hp. Works fine.
I looked at this setup a couple years ago and thought it was way too bulky and klunky for me. Thanks for confirming that it’s just not worth the trouble.
1. Duct tape is your friend. Box tape only seals well on flat surfaces and isn't flexible enough for a hose. 2. Without the air-powered water jet cleaner, this test is useless. The water jet must also have the proper air pressure. 3. The vehicle in the test wasn't dirty enough to use the water jet alone or with the vacuum attachment. 4. Try it on a really dirty thick carpet floor mat, with and without the vacuum. Clean and damp or clean and wet will be the result.
I'm surprised you didn't like it. I thought it was awsome! It doesnt work in my world as a mobile detailer right now but in a shop setting when I first used it I loved it. But maybe just different situations I wouldnt give up on it yet tho. To bad for your bad experience. I thought they sent the attachment for the hose with the package as well bummer. Either way the tornador is still a awsome tool!
Its tough cause I love the Tornador Black and I always had my eye on this set up...ah well. I think I've just developed better systems with drill brushes and compressed air etc that this seems less effective than i might once have thought it was? One thing I will say is that this is my first test. Maybe it will turn out to be awesome?
I always use a air blower and vac. Been doing it 27 years. I've tried alot new stuff that has came out and alot of it is a waste. But tornador does have some good products. Nice video btw
I really like the velocity vac. It's not perfect for everything, but it definitely has its place and does a phenomenal job. I have a 20ft hose on my vacuum and it works fine. You might give it another shot!
When does it shine? My black Tundra carpets are trashed but nothing out of the ordinary for detailing...and I just couldn't love it. But I'm definitely going to give it another shot on a customer vehicle
It shines when you use it to deep clean. I would do most of the vacuuming with a traditional vacuum attachment and pick up as much as you can. Try using the Tornador as more of a deep and thorough clean. You can quickly go over the carpet dry and then try using it as an extractor with apc or degreaser. As far as the hose is concerned, I attached the Tornador whip hose to a 20ft hose and duct taped it together. I only use it for the Tornador and it increases speed compared to a traditional hose....
You're great on camera, such a personality like a natural. I see that "don't be a little b&tch" bracelet! And what is that contraption of a stool/seated cart you have there?? hilarious
So you bought the Z-020 with the ZV-200, a tool designed for wet applications, to do a dry job... The ZV-240 is for dry applications and about $50 cheaper. I myself just came across this video cus I may get a Z-020 for my motorbike, curious if the ZV-020 would be worth the addition for the car, being that i would run a wet application. This video didn't help lol.
good video editing and presentation. You're fair and honest with out being harsh on the limits of the tool's design. Since being a restoration cleaner for 35 years in Arizona cleaning carpet and upholstery I first thought the idea was brilliant but also felt that the package was too long and awkward to use in such tight spaces in auto interiors. This has convinced me not to buy one. Its a ridiculous set up and amount of work to vacuum your car. Why not just blow it out first and then vacuum up what's left? I've been doing that for years and it works fine. Thanks for the insight!
Yeah I was super stoked until I saw this very honest review. Dude I would of been so mad but I think you should of put liquid in the bottle and hooked it up but still I think it would of did the job, but all the work of carrying the vac and the attachments and yeah I think this would be a total waste of money and time lol. Ty for the review, I really enjoyed it.
I beg to differ. With my Persian rugs, I shake them and then vacuum them and then I take them out side and blow them with a tornador and the dust clouds just keep forming.
Sorry for the late comment but you didn't even use the water feature lol I use mine without the water and it shoots air pops up all the dirt and vacuums right up it's absolutely amazing sorry you had a bad experience
Wait, you used tape on your vacuum connections, kinks and knots in your air hose, and you have loud air leak. Also, I saw you had some trouble setting it up, did you break it? Missing parts? Is it possible to fix these issues and then do fair review?

I highly recommend the Tornador Black -- just make sure you have enough air compressor for it. I like the california air tools compressor I use - though it is pretty beat up, it keeps on going!
You are totally right dude. I almost feel like I'm ripping AG off sometimes because they give me such badass deals. Tha double V is gangsta as hewl dawg.
Here's my thought -- the Tornador black is fantastic by itself. That and a vacuum in another hand seems to work better...or a drill brush...I don't know I guess I had high Hope's for this toy. Does it all work okay? Yeah but save your money on the velocity vac:)
To me it never made any sense to have compressed air flow pointing *out* inside the same tube that the vacuum flow is trying to draw into. It seems to me that using an air nozzle in one hand pointed mostly *toward* a vacuum nozzle you're holding in your other hand would provide better dirt extraction and also be a lot easier to fit in tight spaces. Even if someone wanted both air nozzle and vacuum nozzle in the same tool, it sure could be a lot less bulky than this kludgy rig.
Hawk Pro Detailing that’s a California it should definitely be doing better than that. I guess it’s just old you should rebuild it. Love how quiet those California’s run.
No your problem is your fittings aren’t are tight. Your hissing air all over the place. Add some Teflon tape get a 3/8 air fitting for all your tools and ramp that bitch up to 125 psi not only that but your adapter to your vacuum they sold you tapers off to a very small hole. Cut it to the size you need use some zip ties or automotive metal clamps to tighten the hose instead of tape. Fkexzilla and harbor freight sell a very powerful air gun for like 15-20 bucks. Check it out. You’ll fall in love with it. I have both and they are very similar. Also I think the tornador was made more for a carpet extracting type vacuum since they have some serious power on those. And most of not all detail shops have one. Ok after all my bullshitting I think I’m going to try the dam tornador out. I’m super curious now. Thanks for the video man good luck! I’ll subscribe.
I use the predator 3500 from harbor freight. I love it because as a mobile guy if you run too many tools off customer power, you're bound to trip a breaker. did that enough times before figuring out this set up:)
@@HawkProDetailing that's good to know. How many machines do you usually run before tripping customers breaker? Should create video content on that. I work from home and haven't experiment it myself
@@calvinwong365 lol I've tripped too many breakers. I almost always run my 3500 predator generator from harbor freight with one or two pieces of equipment and plug one thing into customers home
My point of this is that itll take to long and like you said best technique is to keep down flat like a vaccum and I think itll take to long as a detailer.
True but it’s not to wet but to help where you using the drill brush. as some people use a spray dilution of fabric softener to loosen the fibers .. on the website they show it better picking up with the control valve using liquid
@@HawkProDetailing I'm going to try adjusting the airflow first before I send it back. I bought the cheap one on Amazon also that is equal to the Torandor Black. I used it on headliner stains and it worked great. $45.00.
ok i think you have a major air leak also compressor is to weak you probably need to be running 140psi 17cfm for it to run efficiently. if tornador wants to send me a test unit let me know ill be willing to do a video because i have been hesitant on buying this due to the price and gimmicky nature. but i do see its potential. love your honesty BTW great video
bummed that it isn't the tool you envisioned...You looked really disappointed in it...like a kid with a defective christmas toy....And, the gyrations you had to do to connect the damn thing.......horrible. But, don't worry, you do an awesome job with whatever you're using, and that is the goal...caring about delivering great work. Looking forward to the next video (by the way, great to see you whip out the drill brush even if only as a supplement to this test)
I did, I found it too cumbersome. I detail on the weekends and evenings so I dont have a customer's car for longer than a few hours. A vaccuum works best for my needs

I think my method would be just blow, maybe vac, drill brush, then vacuum
Ok. Gracias desde Trujillo Perú
Your compressor isn’t high enough, I have mine set to 120 psi and it spanks
my compressor is an old Grandma..I'm surprised she even works😂
I’ll subscribe.
thank you for this !
You were so excited but thank you for being honest about it. This is how everyone should be doing reviews!
Lol I hear it can work great in a shop setting with a monster compressor
What generator do you use? And do I need one?
I use the predator 3500 from harbor freight. I love it because as a mobile guy if you run too many tools off customer power, you're bound to trip a breaker. did that enough times before figuring out this set up:)
@@HawkProDetailing that's good to know. How many machines do you usually run before tripping customers breaker? Should create video content on that. I work from home and haven't experiment it myself
@@calvinwong365 lol I've tripped too many breakers. I almost always run my 3500 predator generator from harbor freight with one or two pieces of equipment and plug one thing into customers home
Line up your equipment down the center of the driveway. Then when you're ready to switch sides, just pull the vehicle out and park on the other side.
My point of this is that itll take to long and like you said best technique is to keep down flat like a vaccum and I think itll take to long as a detailer.
I agree...
Works better in situation with the dial set using some liquid
That seems counter intuitive just cause when you vacuum out you want everything to be dry yeah?
True but it’s not to wet but to help where you using the drill brush. as some people use a spray dilution of fabric softener to loosen the fibers .. on the website they show it better picking up with the control valve using liquid
Thanks for the tips and thoughts. I was going to buy one now I won’t.
Some people love them...if you have a badass compressor i hear it's actually quite good...
Yes you need a badass compressor and you have to run liquid in it. I use straight tap water mostly. Work wonderfully
I do my carpet mats with my Rainbow and then wash and rinse really well. Try not to keep you air hose in a wad. ;-)
One of those things that’s better in theory. You should just get the Tornador Blow Gun.
Yeah I figure since it came with the Tornador Black and a gallon of APC...still $160 well spent lol
Hello how do I attach to vac ? Why was this not explained at all
I RIGGED MINE UP TO A HARBOR FRIEGHT STEAMER...ITS UNREAL
Explain more ?
Great review!
thanks!!
You should have just bought the white. I just bought it from Auto Geek with 30% off. I paid $110.00
you like it? I feel like it lacks "punch"
@@HawkProDetailing I'm going to try adjusting the airflow first before I send it back. I bought the cheap one on Amazon also that is equal to the Torandor Black. I used it on headliner stains and it worked great. $45.00.
as long as it works!!
Love the honesty
I will not buy the poor design vac
Some people like it obviously....I'm guessing it might be great in a shop with big boy compressor?
ok i think you have a major air leak also compressor is to weak you probably need to be running 140psi 17cfm for it to run efficiently. if tornador wants to send me a test unit let me know ill be willing to do a video because i have been hesitant on buying this due to the price and gimmicky nature. but i do see its potential. love your honesty BTW great video
Decaf Cuzz .... Decaf :) Thanks for the review !
😂
You are supposed to use water with it.
yeah I'm just not in love with the unit:)
bummed that it isn't the tool you envisioned...You looked really disappointed in it...like a kid with a defective christmas toy....And, the gyrations you had to do to connect the damn thing.......horrible. But, don't worry, you do an awesome job with whatever you're using, and that is the goal...caring about delivering great work. Looking forward to the next video (by the way, great to see you whip out the drill brush even if only as a supplement to this test)
Yeah man I'm loving the drill brush now!!!
Good deal I just spent like 350
Thanks
sometimes easy is the best this to complicated set up.think easy simple
exactly!
Thx man...
That’s not what it’s even made to do..it’s mean to be more of an extractor and shampoo your carpets
Beauty video
Yea Vaccuum for me.
do you have the tool?
I did, I found it too cumbersome. I detail on the weekends and evenings so I dont have a customer's car for longer than a few hours. A vaccuum works best for my needs
amen to that
Too much trouble and too bulky but a great review on your part.
agreed! thanks my man
