On my canon I use the Faithful colour profile as that is the easiest to process and that is what gives the best image quality!

I use DxO Photolab, which has DeepPrime noise reduction. It's way better than any other editing program.

Luminar Neo‘s AI noise reduction is also very good, and Neat video is also a very capable plugin (but mostly for video work)

Could you not have applied a linear mask to the sky and then applied noise reduction that way?

    Hey Serge,
I'm also using DXO Photolab (Deep Prime XD) for that kind of images. It's really amazing. (DXO PureRaw has the same technology)
I took some photos in the Paris Opera with my Canon R7 (APS-C sensor) and had to go up to ISO 12800. The resulting images are so clean and still have so much detail - I am very impressed.
No need to do some sort of crazy tricks in Photoshop. Just run it through DeepPrime with the standard settings and it's done :)

I have to admit that this was precisely my issue, because I don't carry my tripod everywhere I go. But if this works...

I use a M43 camera, and when shooting from a boat I got a lot of noise. DXO Deep prime handles it very well. Still haven't found anything that can beat it, but Adobe are working on it too.

Hey good job, I tried out your method and it worked well. I want you to know that back in the 80's I used the median filter to filter through the frames of a video to remove noise from a satellite receiver. My graduate student wrote the code in the C programming language. I am also glad to see photoshop pick up the method. I am not sure exactly if they are doing it the same way however. Theoretically the median should be better than doing the average. I am wondering if you come from a technical image processing background. I am so happy to see you using something similar on these stacked still images. I have retaken up my photography hobby after stopping for a few years and am so glad to see your videos to help me bet back up to speed. Again good job!

I've been doing handheld long exposure with my 1" sensor pocket camera for some years now. I just put it into 1/3 sec exposure and do burst shooting. Some shots in the burst usually are tact sharp. Noisy skies now can also be mitigated with AI masking in Lightroom

Can this be done with different exposed images too? So you'll get noise reduction and hdr in one step?

How did you use the trick with the boat on the water. Why did not the boat get removed when doing the median?
