One of the best reels ever made by Zebco. Complete service of a 1978 Zebco Omega One. Details on the drag, anti reverse, and gears. I also show you how to repair the rubber line brake system.
Have you seen the Diamond version of this Zebco One, I just got one off of ebay, Looks at the sold listings if you see this... 3/20/23 looks very nice and and has diamond pattern stamped into the stainless caps from the inside out in place of the knurled caps. I am anxious to go through it and put it to work...Thanks for all the sharing of knowledge that you do and I am sure you realize how much easier it makes it on us when we have seen you do it once before !!! Tight Lines... Doug Doty, Bradenton Fl.
Yes I have.. They are basically the same on the inside. It should work nicely once all the old grease and oil is cleaned out. They are amazing reels.
It looks like a well made reel.
It is. Very smooth. This one and the Omega 33 are awesome.
Good video. The older zebco reals are some of the best spincast reals in the world. You can buy them super cheap on line and they are much better than the spincast reels made today. I'm partial to open face reels that are made today. But for a pushbutton spincast reel, the older zebco is built to last.
The Omega 33 and Omega 33 still bring a good price online. The 33s can be bought for a bargain. I have my Omega 33 on a nice vintage Zebco Mercury rod. Love the setup. The new Omega, Omega Pro and Bullet are very high quality. Check them out. You may be surprised by the quality. See my videos on them.
@@OutFishing13Matthew I have an omega on an old eagle claw denco super 2 spincast rod. It has the old white ceramic line guides. The rod is Yellow and orange, I think it used to be orange and red but it faded. 😂
Hi Matthew,
Zebco uses contact Cement to attach the rubber line break gasket to the line break ring. Have made same repair several times.
Enjoy your videos very much, the reel repair and the fishing trip ones too.
Thanks,
Raj
Raj, Thanks for watching and commenting. I have repairs a number of these older line brakes the same way. They work very well with contact cement. I fixed a couple old 808s the same way.
another great video mat
Thanks, Andrew. Glad you liked it.
Great stuff brother......Keep it up.
Thanks.
Great video. I just acquired an omega 181 and I was struggling with getting the brake bar off and you just showed me how. Thank you so much
Awesome. I have not worked on an 181. Is it basically the same as the Omega One or Omega 33?
From what I can see the only difference is the drag adjustment. The 181 has a dial like the 33
@@eldonwinternheimer2301 I also have a video on the zebco Omega 33. Thanks for you comments!
awesome job. well done. I started a collection of Zebco reels, enjoyed cleaning them and using them. thanks for the info.
You are welcome. These Omegas are great reels and build to last a lifetime!
Nice matt . I have the ultra lite model great reels
Thanks for watching and commenting. Is that the Omega 113? I sure like the little micro reels.
Geeez. You never cease to amaze me. That's a bit of a tedious one. How long have you been doing this if I may ask.
It has about 3 times as many parts as your typical Zeboc. So it was a little tedious, but not too bad. I have been repairing reels for over 30 years. I started with spinning reels and deep sea reels, like Penn. I got my first spincast about 20 years ago. A Daiwa SC120. Had to service that once in a while. I got some old Abu Ambassadeur level wind reels and restored those. Then about 10 years ago I started buying Zebcos and started doing videos as part of my fishing channel when I realized there were very few detailed service videos for these reels. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great Video, I was wondering where you get your parts, like the cover lock and screw. I have an 808 that needs new gears. Thanks Again, and Happy Fishing!
Try the Zebco Shop and Swap Facebook group for vintage parts.
I found one of these at my local lake the other day. It is in great shape except for one thing. I cleaned it out and now the line pegs that are supposed to spring out as seen at 27:46 one pop out until I reel a few times with some speed. They won't pop out right away. Springs are fine. One of the pegs wasn't seated correctly and I fixed that but it still won't pop out correctly. What is causing it? I can't seem to figure it out.,
Take the spinner cone off. Look at the back. Do the pins both have springs?
Hi Matthew, First off - Great Video. I am trying to service my Zebco Omega 191 similar to your video of the Omega One. I lost the little e-clip and spring cup on the spool shaft. Do you know where I can buy replacements? Also, do you know where to get a schematic drawing? Thank you. Dan
Hi Dan, The best place to go for that is Zebco Shop and Swap. I lost the little baby e-clip myself. I eventually found it. whew... those things can disappear fast!
Do you know where to buy a rubber ring for the line brake? If not have you found a replacement fix?
You will need to fabricate one to use, since there are no replacement parts. I have not yet had to replace the rubber brake ring yet, but I have heard of others who have. You can use a variety of different materials. For example: old innertube, rubber gasket material. Cut out the right size and glue it in with rubber cement.
I know this is an old video, but I was wondering what the gear ration on one of these is?
@@noweepersfinally9747 I think it is around 2.3:1.
I have a question. Upon super tuning my micro reels I am not able to reverse the handle on them. (Left side) . Do you have a cure?
Which micro do you have?
@@OutFishing13Matthew Hi Mathew. Thanks for answering. The t11 and the mck have that problem. Trigger micro is fine. When I snug the screw on the handle (not tighten) it is stiff. (On the left side). Right side is good. Just wondering if you have that problem. Thanks
@@rogerlamberth2969 I haven't. Are the bearing the same width as the bushings? There is a little spacer on the handle screw. Make sure that stays with the screw when you switch sides. The only thing I can think of is somehow when you switch the handle from the right to the left and screwing it tight something is binding up the bearings. It could be that little barrel spacer that is on the handle screw. Here is my Zebco 11 super tune video. Are 2:50 note the handle screw and the spacer. ruclips.net/video/5-9Qx4zdXyY/видео.html Hope you get it figured out.
If you don't own rubber cement, would super glue, or Gorilla glue, be ok?
Super glue would be fine. Not sure abou GG.
Matthew,
Guess who you know I'm watching my Friend, Ed PS Matt to many parts
Hey there, Ed. Yes, sir. This one has lots of little parts.
