Also, if you remember cyberpunk 2077 being pulled from PlayStation store due to buggy launch? You think Sony will put up with the same as what we have since expansion release? They spent ~$250,000 on the SGF trailer to attract new/console players, and the only people viewing New World content yesterday were existing New World players. And yet you can go back through Forged in Aeternum videos and hear Scot Lane continue to use the phrase "return on investment" like he coined it.
ive heard the idea that this a "FFXIV ARR Relaunch" thing, it IS NOT , mainly b/c a large part of that FF Re Launch was replacing Nobuaki Komoto with Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi P) as Game Director . And well, i still see Mr. "Chestruns and Fishing are Endgame" Scot Lane. You have to "change the head of the Statue for the Body to make sense". I just hope Console players do their research first rather than be made in to cattle to be milked.
I mean they stated most of the stuff in the longer form video. Just had to read between the lines. Pretty much all of it was data mined prior. I am not sure why everyone is so upset? Cross platform, server and sharding is big. New audience potential is big. Trashing them isnt helping, its going to drive people away when they are searching RUclips. Is the end goal from the current community to make the game fail?
This was the only way to relaunch. Current base is gone, potential as a "new" game for console is in the millions. Positioning as a solo focussed MMO makes sense as most MMO players play solo. Communicating it as a "relaunch" of a bad game would be worse for new players than positioning it as something new. IMHO this is tough for die hard fans but I personally will ABSOLUTELY give the new launch a try.
I think going to console is the best decision they could have done and it'll add allot more players into the game. In my opinion, PC players are never satisfied with content because they play like 8 hours a day and run through it all so fast. I don't have a gaming PC anymore so I'm just happy to be able to play it again
Personally, I felt like a similar (though nowhere near as bad) communication issue happened with the expansion. I know that you, Brian, always said that the expansion essentially included the next year of updates in the price, but I never felt that was the developer's intention that they communicated. I dropped off after the expansion released for this reason, and I got interested seeing there was a new announcement, but I am left scratching my head about this and feel they squandered their opportunity to get me re-invested into the game. I'll definitely keep an eye out for what they have to announce later this week, but they've gotta dig themselves out of this hole.

If this is the best AGS can do, then i have 0 hopes for the game in the future... What we wanted is brimstone level update, maybe a bit more with crossplay console update, new weapon, OPR map... what we got? A swimming without diving i guess or any other progression, 1 raid, another rework zone and FFA PVP zone, that will be dead in 2 months, because they will forget about updating rewards or create any meaningful ways to play... same like PvE arenas or portals... All this for another 4 months of wait...
Almost a year ago I was sure they were trying to kill the game when they increased the price from the base game and DLC by more than 100% in SA (from $70 to $150), NW was so massive in SA, bigger in popularity than FF14, but they choose to kill the SA community making the DLC price almost the Baldur's Gate 3 price ($199), for comparison FF14 complete pack is $158, world of warrcraft full pack is $169, new world full pack is $352!! This is crazy and I'll never ever play any AGS game again in my entire life, they don't deserve any trust...
Been playing since release, 1900 hours. Tried to play Season 5 update 5.0.2, and now game is crashing hard lockup everything login to Valhalla. Posts on Discord seem to indicate I'm not alone.
This is what ags is doing- they are using new world as a beta for LOTR. It will have the same engine/animations/gameplay. They have no intention of new world future. It's just a way to make money off play testers. They will copy and paste LOTR over new world.
MMORPGs are one of the least played genres on consoles, there is almost no games to this audience in these plataforms. Or new world will be a massive sucess on xbox/ps5 or will be just another failure in a sea of closed console MMOs. I really hope they suceed on consoles because on PC looks like they have already fucked up.
Been playing since Brimstone patch, and finally ran Forge for the first time last night. Still have a couple expeditions and trials I haven't set foot in or exhausted. Paced myself with other games because I learned that AGS content deployment is glacial.

The game is dead, example on the server I am on the orange faction always defends every fort and no one in a different faction can take forts without being harass by orange its making alot of ppl just not even try due to the lack of players willing to fight over a fort it's boring tbh 😴

I expect to be new things in next season, for current players. Also there is ton of content for new players to experience when they start to play on consoles, we on PC were beta testers for greater money income with consoles.

Nah, The launch of angry earth killed this game for me. Being a marauder it screwed my progression yet they did not care that it made the pvp unfair and pretty much told us we can wait for the next patch like they didn't give a damn about players they just go by deadlines and nothing else now with this whole we cant tell you shit cock tease for months...nope this game is dead to me atleast.

I have well over 4k hours in this game and I finally called it quits. All they do is the same crap over and over, recycle content, make FALLs promises and make the game worse. They killed this game and their fans base I don't care what they do next but from my experiences with this game it's just going to be another Disappointment.
Glad new world didn't learn from ESO. Consoles WILL hold back content since they will have to make it for multiple devices. Don't be surprised if there are two schedules and releases now. ESO has a schedule for PC and basically the same for Consoles but 2 weeks later. The worst part is performance! For the longest time ZoS has been telling players "we can't add new skills/classes because the consoles are maxed out" You need to have it playable on all devices now, so you will have to make it for the lowest common denominator aka consoles
ZOS problem is they're still supporting old gen console the Xbox One and PS4. That's why they can't do the new skills and crap. If they dropped old gen and only focused on the next gens then they wouldn't have that problem.
@@kevinarnold8634 they did for Necrom. Before that, they kept feeding the player base the line of not adding new skills, weapons, guildlines or new classes because of lack of memory on the consoles. When they added the arcanist, it did share some animations from skills already in the game

Since those that own the game and expansion will get the new one at no additional cost it is not as though they are trying to replace players. If that was their genuine goal it would have made more sense for them to make everyone buy the new game with no credit for purchase of the current one.

Still one of the biggest disappointments, New World is a mmo I waited for, for a while and enjoyed playing it and it fell on its face and was hoping for more so I could come back. But as of right now there’s no coming back. So I’ll just go and play EverQuest 2 or gw2 even black desert.
I see new world as a game with a lot of potential but i lost interest over the years. Played brimstone sands and the expansion. That said, this reveal was only for consoleros and they marketed it as a new game, explaining who the lost are and so on. Really disappointing. A revamp and console release could bring me back but i got the feeling that they just want more sells and the players that already paid are not important to them. Just can recommend path of exile 2 to you. Thats a great game with devs that are in touch with the community and communication is on point. So sad to watch these new world videos after a poe2 interview. They could learn a lot from jonathan. I dont like the react hypocrite bs that is common these days (because its easy money) but new world devs earned it this time.

We don't know yet what we'll be getting precisely, as we are just at initial announcement. More details will be provided between now and when it comes out so people have a better sense of the full extent of that being changed and how it may impact their future enjoyment of the game. It seems quite major though, so is understandably concerning for those that just wanted more content for the current game. I can't help getting some "bait and switch" feeling over it, but if the switch is pleasing enough I won't overly mind it.
Take a break, is break for 1 year. It will take console players at least 6 months to get to GS725 and make a build to be decent enough at it. PC players will farm them in to oblivion if they don't take a year off

I can't help getting some "bait and switch" feeling over it, but if the switch is pleasing enough I won't overly mind it.

Take a break, is break for 1 year. It will take console players at least 6 months to get to GS725 and make a build to be decent enough at it. PC players will farm them in to oblivion if they don't take a year off
