Synopsis: Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Terry Noonan returns home after a ten-year absence. He soon reconnects with Jackie, a childhood friend and member of the Irish mob, and rekindles his love affair with Jackie’s sister Kathleen.
State of Grace was unfortunate enough to be released in the same year as Goodfellas, The Godfather Part III, Miller’s Crossing and King of New York. Had it been a year earlier or later, I’m sure it would have found a much bigger audience and commercial success. Starring Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Ed Harris, and Robin Wright, shot by Jordan Cronenweth and with music by Ennio Morricone, this one truly is a hidden gem.
