@@flowrepins6663 I wouldn't say it's the best library, SNES and PS1 are some consoles that are full some of the best games of all time. But even consoles such as the PS3 and 3DS/DS have an underrated library that, IMO is some of the best there is, rivaling or even surpassing the PS2.

Recently got an RG cube to get some nostalgia from my old favourites. Def Jam: Fight for NY, Final Fantasy X, Tekken 5&6, Soul Calibur 2&3, the Metal Gear Solids, the smackdowns, tony hawks underground, GTA trilogy, it was the golden era
Sad to never see Syphon Filter games on a best or top 10 must play PlayStation games. Syphon Filter 1 & 2 were such a blast. Loved the stories. After Syphon Filter 3 is when I tapped out though. Definitely hold 1 & 2 in a special place in my heart. Such great games.
Jak 2/3, Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition, almost all the Maddens, Freedom Fighters, Almost every game from the Ratchet & Clank Series, Def Jam Fight for NY, of course GTA San Andreas. List really goes on,
Nice picks my guy! All of these are good though I'd personally play the multiplats like X-Men and The Simpsons on an og Xbox. They often run and look better than on the PS2, but I'd also tell anyone to play any of these games however way that they can. I would like to throw out Castlevania Lament of Innocence, Twisted Metal Black and Gradius V as must-play games on the PS2 even in 2024 and beyond. All of them are outstanding titles for completely different reasons and deserve a spot in anyones collection.

The problem with GodOfWae1+2 are the fetch puzzle quest and QTE cheese…. -Fetch quest= find the key for door,,find the key to the key. Rinse repeat. If they didn’t have that it woulda been a lot more fun…. Dude really drags out that last word in every sentence.
I guess probably because these lists are always personal opinions and we all kind of have different ones. I think it's a solid game though, I just don't own it
The only reason why the Switch will out sell the PS2 is because Nintendo includes sales from the Switch Lite. Honestly don't think they should because the Switch Lite is not a home console that hooks up to your TV but is a handheld. I also don't agree that Sony is counting the PlayStation Portal as PS5 sales. I think they're doing that because if Nintendo's doing it then why not them as well?
The Switch is a home console and a handheld console combined. PS2 is a dedicated home console. The fairer comparison would be the PS2 and the PSP sales combined vs. Switch. Just saying.
@@madfinntech I mean majority of Switch consoles are dockable. People who buy Switch are buying them to play videogames. PS2 sold quite a lot based on being the cheapest DVD player available.

Honestly, I think that Jak and Daxter : Lost World is something that can be skipped. It wasn't that great in my opinion, and Jak X wasn't really that good too, but it also was tainted by that one save corruption glitch.
@@thegamethrifter You liked them? I haven't played Jak X much, but I did finish Lost World, but I felt that it didn't reach to the level of the first two games, I guess it just wasn't for me. I don't remember much of Jak 3 either, I guess I should revisit. I have a sizeable backlog of ps2 titles in my shelf I need to go through, I'm currently in middle of Evergrace and Project Zero / Fatal Frame series, so Jak has to wait.
@thegamethrifter ambernic is a handheld emulator that runs Android and most devices emulate up to ps1 or n64 but the 405m model runs ps2 and GameCube pretty well but a few games suffer from frame rate issues
I agree with GT peaking in the PS2. 5 and 6 were good, but their GT modes felt kinda wonky, and 6 took forever to load. The campaign in GT Sport was effectively an afterthought, and that combined with the lackluster part modification makes it my least favorite GT. And I haven't even bothered with 7 since they decided to basically omit the GT mode in favor of the cafe menu garbage.
I can't believe you didn't list ICO and Shadow of Colossus. 👁️👄👁️ And also bunch of Rockstar games like Bully. RE4, Metal Gear, SSX Tricky, NBA Street, Midnight Club, NFS underground.....
Yea, the problem with PS2 is there's so many years of content. I actually did put Shadow Of The Colossus in my PS3 list. Looking back maybe I should have reversed it? I enjoyed the original, the remaster and the remake honestly.
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are definetly overrated, i don't get at all the appeal with these games now-a-days. And those were some of the games i played the most in my childhood.

I LOVE kingdom hearts 1 & 2 but saying 1 is good to play today is not a good entry on the list. A VERY slow start up spending forever on the island and 'goofy' slow jumping and fighting mechanics until you start levelling up and equipping things. 2 is a bit quicker of a start up and better jump fight mechanics. Revenge of the Sith was fun! 👌 Jak 1 is in my top 5 games on ps2. I never ended up playing the others😢 but i have the HD collection on ps3 now. Just need a ps3 controller that works!

Definetly not, although it's debatable, i don't consider NFSU the even best racing game on the system, let alone the best game there is. The same goes for SSX Tricky, SSX 3 is better in almost every way there is.
I never understood why people think Sony/PlayStation too SEGA out of the console market. I think it's Nintendo's fault because if they didn't stab Sony in the back the PlayStation would never have come out.
Well Sony had a part to play, they had built up a lot of trust with the PS1 and had a DVD player with the PS2 which was the cheapest DVD player on the market. Sega however really hurt their own brand by coming out with too many pieces of hardware, losing 3rd party support an losing consumer trust and confidence.
@@thegamethrifter But really, what was the effect on the Gameplay side of things? The Current Spider-man game for instance, Isn't the leap from Spider-man 2 (Ps2) that Spider-man 2 (PS2) was from the Playstation Spider-man. The same core gameplay dominates The Devil May Cry games, which simply were impossible to make on PSX level hardware. The High definition did change gaming, but not nearly as much as Ninja Gaiden, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and Halo: Combat Evolved (just giving one example per console) changed what games could be from the PSX/N64 era.
@@Skyfighter64 I mean the immersion is pretty significant. Halo 1-2 were great, but most people point to Halo 3 as the claim to fame. The reason (IMO) why people aren't quick to upgrade to newer consoles is because there's not that stark difference that we saw from Xbox/PS2 to Xbox 360/PS3. That was such a massive improvement that everyone wanted to see that for themselves. Right now we get games that pretty much look like Xbox One/PS4 games even though we're 4 years into new hardware.
@@thegamethrifter My point was going from Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark as being the absolute pinnacle of what First Person shooters could be on consoles to Halo: Combat Evolved as an Xbox launch title is a gap that cannot be compared to going from Halo:CE to Halo 3. I'm not saying the bump from 480i to 720P wasn't a big deal, it just didn't change gaming the way that the Playstation 2 and XBox did.
Most these games are wack. Play silent hill games, the mark of Kri, the suffering, shadow of the colossus, prince of Persia games, and so many more better than what you said. I think timesplitters was one of the only good ones you mentioned.
Ps2 have nothing to do with Sega going out of business. Games like Shenmue bankrupted them because they were far too expensive to make. Dreamcast bankrupted themselves to bring its fans the best games they could. At least show appreciation for what they did, making shenmue cost them everything.
Nah, Sony played a part in it. The PS2 had a DVD player and coming off the PS1 Sony told people next generation started with them. People waited for the PS2 rather than buying a Dreamcast.
X-men legends can be played on Xbox why would anyone get the ps2 version over the xbox when both systems are around £40 to buy these days,especially if they have both consoles? Definitely not a game to buy the ps2 for.Unless you're talking about games locked to ps2 no 3rd party title in your list is worth getting a ps2 over an xbox. You should of stuck with games that weren't on other systems. Games like forbidden siren, forbidden siren 2, extermination,killzone,rise to honor,dogs life,silent hill 3(only OG version),Scarface (better uncensored version)knock out kings 2001,getaway,getaway black Monday,rule of rose, haunted ground, clock tower 3 would all of been games that would of made for a better list since they are games that can't be played anywhere else or they are the best versions.
You went the lazy way and picked the most known games that's in everyone's TOP 10 and throwed some games that aren't even good in the mix. You didn't search enough and those random games are probably the ones you remember playing in your childhood and thought they were decent. But i respect you picking the first KH instead of it's sequel.
My childhood? I was already an adult when the PS2 came out and bought it day 1. We all have different tastes and likes, universally loved games are loved for a reason, which is why so many people put them on their lists.

But you can't name your own video "The Best PS2 games" and not even make an attempt to rate them objectively nor expect people to not judge this video as if these are the best on the system. Also, you can clearly tell some games are better than others. You talk about how these are universally loved for a reason when you choose to put bad games in the video instead of gems such as MGS, Bully, GTA, DQVIII and many more which are way more aclaimed. Also also, that's not the only reason, nostalgia bends how you view some clearly trash games, an example would be Shadow of the Colossus, which when compared to DMC3 or RE4, it definetly falls short, but some people still like to debate like the game doesn't suck in story and content.

I see lots of "Best of" videos and I don't leave comments that they aren't the best....because to the people doing the videos they might be. It's all just different opinions. My favorite Call Of Duty game is COD 4 Modern Warfare on Xbox 360, and I'd consider it the best COD. But many would say Black Ops 2 which I didn't like...and that's perfectly fine!

What really matters is what your opinion is based upon, and in your case, It's pure subjectivity and bias while claiming that you rated them objectively or at least attempted to do so. Also, just because you have a favorite doesn't mean that you can't look at the facts and see that some games are way better. For example, If you ask which game is objectively better to Breath of Fire fans, most of them will say that their favorite is Breath of Fire is Y, but that they understand that Breath of Fire III is objectively the better game. Compare Bully and that Star Wars Game, which is objectively better? Even with either as your favorite you can clearly see Bully is way better in every single way.

It can and probably is a combination of both things. Sega also hurt the trust of fans by releasing hardware and not supporting it very quickly. Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn, Sega Nomad, Sega Game Gear. Was honestly too much.

I put Bully in my Xbox 360 video. I try to use different games for each video but it can be difficult in choices like this. So I enjoy both those games and hundreds of others. I tend to go with what I've been playing lately or remembered sinking a lot of time into originally. @@ExecutiveMeeting

How do you youtubers get so much wrong in your videos when you are trying to do this as a professional. You say God of war 2 is your all time favorite, but still get details wrong, it doesn't not take place right after part 1 time has definitely passed and then you say it came out after the PS2 launched? I think every PS2 game came out after the PS2 launched. I think you mean It came out after the PS3 launched. Also gta 4 is not nearly as good as gt7.
RUclipsrs aren't professionals by any means, I'm just a guy who collects games and likes to talk about them. I was actually pretty sick while recording the video, obviously meant it came out after the PS3 launch. I'm not going to hold is against you for a typo where you say GTA4 is not nearly as good as GTA7 because there is no GTA7. Outside of that, I do videos to entertain and talk about gaming and it's free for people to watch and talk about gaming. Perhaps you're being too hard on people just trying to have fun talking about their hobby?

I loved playing all 3 of the ace combat games. Hopefully, some news will come out about Ace Combat 8. I know you don't like this game, but I do.

Syphon Filter 1 and 2 were awesome PS1 games, I never got that same feeling from 3.

I have them both on my OG Xbox as well, but I was recently playing PS2 with family and those games were ones I played there.

That's probably right, certainly wasn't a knock on the PS2 as it's a classic and the console that brought many into gaming in the first place.

I agree with GT peaking in the PS2. 5 and 6 were good, but their GT modes felt kinda wonky, and 6 took forever to load. The campaign in GT Sport was effectively an afterthought, and that combined with the lackluster part modification makes it my least favorite GT. And I haven't even bothered with 7 since they decided to basically omit the GT mode in favor of the cafe menu garbage.
I like 7 strictly for the PSVR2 aspects!

Yea, the problem with PS2 is there's so many years of content. I actually did put Shadow Of The Colossus in my PS3 list. Looking back maybe I should have reversed it? I enjoyed the original, the remaster and the remake honestly.
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are definetly overrated, i don't get at all the appeal with these games now-a-days. And those were some of the games i played the most in my childhood.

I LOVE kingdom hearts 1 & 2 but saying 1 is good to play today is not a good entry on the list. A VERY slow start up spending forever on the island and 'goofy' slow jumping and fighting mechanics until you start levelling up and equipping things. 2 is a bit quicker of a start up and better jump fight mechanics. Revenge of the Sith was fun! 👌 Jak 1 is in my top 5 games on ps2. I never ended up playing the others😢 but i have the HD collection on ps3 now. Just need a ps3 controller that works!
I feel like you need to play Kingdom Hearts 1 if you want any clue on what's going on. Because the stories get jumbled up a lot later on.

I never understood why people think Sony/PlayStation too SEGA out of the console market. I think it's Nintendo's fault because if they didn't stab Sony in the back the PlayStation would never have come out.
Well Sony had a part to play, they had built up a lot of trust with the PS1 and had a DVD player with the PS2 which was the cheapest DVD player on the market. Sega however really hurt their own brand by coming out with too many pieces of hardware, losing 3rd party support an losing consumer trust and confidence.
Eh, the jump from SD to HD is meaningless compared to the jump from Cd sized media to DVD class media size.
I don't know about that! It's really preference, but seeing things in HD and widescreen was a revelation.

The Current Spider-man game for instance, Isn't the leap from Spider-man 2 (Ps2) that Spider-man 2 (PS2) was from the Playstation Spider-man. The same core gameplay dominates The Devil May Cry games, which simply were impossible to make on PSX level hardware.
The High definition did change gaming, but not nearly as much as Ninja Gaiden, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and Halo: Combat Evolved (just giving one example per console) changed what games could be from the PSX/N64 era.
@@Skyfighter64 I mean the immersion is pretty significant. Halo 1-2 were great, but most people point to Halo 3 as the claim to fame. The reason (IMO) why people aren't quick to upgrade to newer consoles is because there's not that stark difference that we saw from Xbox/PS2 to Xbox 360/PS3. That was such a massive improvement that everyone wanted to see that for themselves. Right now we get games that pretty much look like Xbox One/PS4 games even though we're 4 years into new hardware.
@@thegamethrifter My point was going from Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark as being the absolute pinnacle of what First Person shooters could be on consoles to Halo: Combat Evolved as an Xbox launch title is a gap that cannot be compared to going from Halo:CE to Halo 3.
I'm not saying the bump from 480i to 720P wasn't a big deal, it just didn't change gaming the way that the Playstation 2 and XBox did.

Ps2 have nothing to do with Sega going out of business. Games like Shenmue bankrupted them because they were far too expensive to make. Dreamcast bankrupted themselves to bring its fans the best games they could. At least show appreciation for what they did, making shenmue cost them everything.
Nah, Sony played a part in it. The PS2 had a DVD player and coming off the PS1 Sony told people next generation started with them. People waited for the PS2 rather than buying a Dreamcast.

Games like forbidden siren, forbidden siren 2, extermination,killzone,rise to honor,dogs life,silent hill 3(only OG version),Scarface (better uncensored version)knock out kings 2001,getaway,getaway black Monday,rule of rose, haunted ground, clock tower 3 would all of been games that would of made for a better list since they are games that can't be played anywhere else or they are the best versions.
More people own a PS2, some people just prefer PlayStation and some prefer Xbox.

You didn't search enough and those random games are probably the ones you remember playing in your childhood and thought they were decent. My childhood? I was already an adult when the PS2 came out and bought it day 1. We all have different tastes and likes, universally loved games are loved for a reason, which is why so many people put them on their lists.

But you can't name your own video "The Best PS2 games" and not even make an attempt to rate them objectively nor expect people to not judge this video as if these are the best on the system. Also, you can clearly tell some games are better than others. You talk about how these are universally loved for a reason when you choose to put bad games in the video instead of gems such as MGS, Bully, GTA, DQVIII and many more which are way more aclaimed. Also also, that's not the only reason, nostalgia bends how you view some clearly trash games, an example would be Shadow of the Colossus, which when compared to DMC3 or RE4, it definetly falls short, but some people still like to debate like the game doesn't suck in story and content.

I see lots of "Best of" videos and I don't leave comments that they aren't the best....because to the people doing the videos they might be. It's all just different opinions. My favorite Call Of Duty game is COD 4 Modern Warfare on Xbox 360, and I'd consider it the best COD. But many would say Black Ops 2 which I didn't like...and that's perfectly fine!

What really matters is what your opinion is based upon, and in your case, It's pure subjectivity and bias while claiming that you rated them objectively or at least attempted to do so. Also, just because you have a favorite doesn't mean that you can't look at the facts and see that some games are way better. For example, If you ask which game is objectively better to Breath of Fire fans, most of them will say that their favorite is Breath of Fire is Y, but that they understand that Breath of Fire III is objectively the better game. Compare Bully and that Star Wars Game, which is objectively better? Even with either as your favorite you can clearly see Bully is way better in every single way.

It can and probably is a combination of both things. Sega also hurt the trust of fans by releasing hardware and not supporting it very quickly. Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn, Sega Nomad, Sega Game Gear. Was honestly too much.

I think every PS2 game came out after the PS2 launched. I think you mean It came out after the PS3 launched. Also gta 4 is not nearly as good as gt7.
RUclipsrs aren't professionals by any means, I'm just a guy who collects games and likes to talk about them. I was actually pretty sick while recording the video, obviously meant it came out after the PS3 launch.
I'm not going to hold is against you for a typo where you say GTA4 is not nearly as good as GTA7 because there is no GTA7.
Outside of that, I do videos to entertain and talk about gaming and it's free for people to watch and talk about gaming.
