Everyone who is mad I didn’t know these actors are probably new here... I’m sorry honey bees. I learn on the job. 😅 I don’t research before I film.
could I? Yes. Will I?
…No 🥸
Can you do the Lucifer musical episode?
Running home to you is an OG song 👍
Really surprised you didn't recognize Jesse L. Martin (he plays Joe West). Martin was in Rent.
You should do buffy the vampire slayer musical episode
Do yourself a favour. Watch the movie Rent! Jesse Martin as Tom Collins is one of the most wonderful singers. Truly worth watching. As a singer interested in Musical Theatre it is a must see.
The fact that Darren, Melissa and Grant were all in Glee and are in this multiverse episode together is my favourite thing.
that i love it
the way Naya was doing a voice in a Batman animated film.. seems like everyone in Glee is destined to work for Marvel/DC someday
And the guy who played Dave Karofski was in flash.
it's a gleeunion!
@@nativenewyorker3144 I just watched that episode a few weeks ago lol it made me so happy!
When you realize you've accidentally cast your entire superhero universe with musical theatre icons already so you can do a musical episode without having to pay for vocal coaches.
yup
😂😂 yeah they must’ve been like oooohh shittt
The funny thing is they asked and they said yes
😂😂
Honestly, I was waiting for this episode from the moment I knew Barrowman was involved with the Arrowverse, but every new addition to the cast was like an added promise that the musical episode was coming. I'm still sad they didn't utilize everyone they could have though
"Running Home to You" is a running theme between Iris and Flash. The song was perfect for the moment. One of the best proposal scenes on TV. I think they did the entire musical episode just to have a reason to have Barry sing to Iris and propose.
Too bad the incest kind of ruins it 😐
@@TheMaestro1275 incest? Barrys dad went to prison and his mom died so joe took barry in. Iris and Barry are not related at all lmao. Maybe you should do the research or watch the show without making claims you have no clue about.
@@bonkey12 I know that they're not related, and I have watched most of the show (I stopped at around season 5-6), but for some reason it's always made me uncomfortable how the love of siblings "blooms" (I can't think of a better word rn) into romantic love. It also made me uncomfortable how jealous Barry got in the earlier seasons whenever iris got with someone else although it's none of his damn business.
I don't know, It's just a personal gripe of mines.
@@TheMaestro1275 they were best friends who were LIKE siblings, they never said "she's my sister" or "he's my brother" The fact is they were raised from the age of 10 onwards so realistically for 8 years and he was in love with her before her dad adopted him

Grant does actually know how to tap dance. He started taking lessons when he was a child. There’s actually a great video of him dancing to Good Morning from Singing in the Rain which really shows off his talent.
yes he tap dances in glee!
Hannah's total lack of awareness of how 90% of the cast are actual professional singers and dancers and thats why they did a musical episode in the first place, is so endeering :')
They did have to comb through four Arrowverse shows for this cast
I concur! 😂❤️ She is the cutest.
she literally mentions that in the video lmao

Yeah the arrowverse with this episode was like “look we just so happened to hire all of these Broadway actors to play our superhero it would be a shame to not do something with that”
Truly
It's a Broadway talent showcase mixed up with a Glee reunion, since the main characters and villain were on Glee
It really woulda been a shame. I wish they let both of them sing a lot more in each of their shows. Like, please, gimme more!
And even a lot of the actors not in this episode have some sort of musical theatre experienxe
@@lukemccord2690 really? Like who? Aside from passing characters that were only seen a few times
Fun fact: Carlos (guy with long hair) and Darren went to college together! For Starkid fans, Carlos was in the original band in AVPM and co-wrote MAMD with Darren as well as was also being in the band for that as well.
and was the singer for one of the songs in twisted (not in show, but in the closing credits and on the soundtrack album)
Not only that, but they went to college with and graduated 3 years behind Pasek and Paul, which is part of how they got involved in this episode. Breaks my heart as a Buckeye that it was that school up north, but I can make an exception because they are all awesome.
I’m so glad someone put this because it’s so sad that others don’t know it!!!
THATS SO COOL!!
Yes, and Chris and Grant were also classmates at Elon University, a great performing arts school. They’ve remained friends since those early years. Chris has an amazing voice.

I know
“Mon-el” (Christopher wood) and “kara” (Melissa benoist) actually got married in real life and have a baby and it’s completely irrelevant to this video but it’s kinda adorable
It saddens me so much that their characters can't be together in the show, but the fact that they're married in real life makes it slightly better. Haha.
@@Kelociraptor7 Yesss and they seem so great together. I’m absolutely in love with Melissa Benoist so seeing her truly happy makes me happy. 😭
@@typiper they had SO much chemistry!
@@Kelociraptor7 yeah I love that they are together and have a cute family! I love that they are happy! Though in my opinion I do feel like their characters weren't great for each other. Their chemistry is amazing, that's a given but with Mon-el's tendency (before going into the future) of not listening to Kara and not treating her in the way that respects her individuality and the need of her not fully needing to be saved all the time (this episode excluded), made me think that Mon-el and Kara had too many things counteracting each other with their personalitlies and what they need/wanted in a relationship. If that makes sense.
Yes
that fact that she knows that Darren has singing experience but doesn’t know that Grant Gustin (Barry) and Melissa Bonneit (Kara) are professional and were in glee with Darren just makes me question life.

Also Jessie L Martin (played the original Tom Collins in Rent) and John Borrowman played multiple roles on broadway. This entire cast is just musically talented 👌👌👌

This proposal ending scene is one of the most iconic moments to Flash literally because of these two characters, as Barry and Iris, are just as important as their superhero and news reporter selves. And it's just one of the most important scenes to the show when you understand the context of what's happened before and coming after this. I've watched and cried over this scene so many times over the years haha
I literally remember crying during the scene the first time I saw it.
I love when she sees Barry the first time and recognizes him, she changes the line to “My HuckleBARRY Friend” 😄
I never caught that the first time I saw this episode ... I just thought it was a nod to Barry being the Scarlet Speedster and Kara the Girl of Steel (huckleberry is a fruit, but it's also a shade of red that is mixed with blue, more of a reddish purple).
She said "when a show does a musical episode, not every single person has singing experience but they all sound great"....they basically did this episode BECAUSE so many members of each cast have musical theater experience. 😉
There are so many Arrowverse actors that have musical theater backgrounds! There's another episode where Barry and Kaitlin sing, and Joe is a singer in an alternate universe that Barry visited.

My favourite tidbit of trivia for this episode is that every single person who sings in the episode has been on Broadway at some point. That's why they're all so amazing. Also, Victor Garber, who was actually written off his own cw superhero crossover show, was brought back for this one episode only, just so he could sing. He was, at the time, on Broadway with Bernadette Peters in Hello Dolly (Which I had the absolute *pleasure* to be able to see live) but was brought back for this one episode purely because he has been, and at the time actually was, on Broadway. Anyways, just a little fun fact for you!
actually Victor Garber was written off the following season
This is the first musical episode since Buffy's Once More With Feeling that felt like it really captured the spirit of what a musical episode should be. Easily one of my favorite episodes in the entire Arrowverse.
OMWF was easily one of the greatest musical episodes in history. Still listen to some of the songs from that to this day.
when you said Barry is a feminist he so is, in another episode with him a Kara he literally went "Let's step away from the nice lady and settle this like women" and when Kara looked at him he just went "what, there are more of you guys here then me" I loved it.
My favorite is when they introduce the two characters to each other. Kara is on fire and Barry goes to pay the fire and then goes “oop! Nope, not touching without consent”
@@Kat006Kitty He doesn't say not without consent, he just doesn't want to touch the fire lol

Darren's playing the part of a comic character who literally teaches lessons, that's why his hair's like that. A decent chunk of these people were on Glee at some point or another, like Kara and Barry, or have experience with singing at some point in the past.

It's a little sad Chyler Leigh (who plays Supergirl's sister) wasn't involved in this episode. I know Hannah really loved her rendition of "Breathe" from the Grey's Anatomy musical episode.

@@samwich288 If i'm not mistaken, it is on Supergirl 3x08.
That is Broadway, Movie, TV & London stage star John Barrowman with the knife! And yes, he can sing!!! Grant can tap dance and actually was a dancer in West Side Story. He went from there to Glee.
So this episode happened because the flash show and the supergirl show (which were on competing networks) had annual crossover episodes, and realised that the casts of both shows were full of glee and broadway stars. Victor Garber (who you know as Warbucks) was also the original jesus in Godspell and the original Booth in Assasins. Jesse Martin was the original Tom Collins in Rent. John Barrowman (the other dad) was in a lot of west end show, but was in this show because he was a musical guy on arrow. Barry and Kara were botb in later seasons of glee. Cisco’s actor was Darren’s college roommate, and played in the band of “very potter musical”.

Then again she may just not watch glee or doctor who (which is where I was originally introduced to John Barrow man) so cant really get mad
How did she not know who John Barrowman is?
The TALENT in this episode. Dear god. You have Jeremy Jordan, John barrowman, Darren Criss, FREAKING Jessie L martin( Collins from rent im shocked she didnt call him out) , Victor Garber. im sure theres plenty im not naming just wow..
John Barrowman (Cutter) was nominated the Laurence Olivier Awarrd for best Actor in a Musical in 1998. He's also released several albulms.
Jesse Martin (one of the dads) originated the role of Tom Collins in Rent on Broadway.
Victor Garber has a prolific Broadway career and has won 4 Tony awards.
As for the younger cast you seem to know their history with singing exvept for Carlos and someone else already pointed it out. But the older generation in the episode all have extensive histories working on Broadway and the East End.
“Jeremy you charming bastard”
That point about how not everyone in musical episodes can sing is a good observation.
If I’m not mistaken, every single person who sings in this episode has had theatre experience or some kind of singing background. The reason why this all takes place in this weird dream sequence is because about half the actors in this episode are not from this show but rather from spin off shows where they all exist in the same universe. Except some of the other shows dont fit the tone of having a musical episode.
So they used that story telling tool to specifically bring in (either all or almost all) cast members who can actually sing!

Yes great explanation
"True Love's Kiss" You kinda have to know the story of Barry Allen and Iris West to get this. She is his lodestar. Her super power is to be his rock when he rolls. Wherever Barry goes in the world, the universe, the multiverse, the Speed Force, you name it. She's his ticket home. Always has been. Always will be. It's a weird super power and she don't get a cape but in some ways Iris West puts Lois Lane to shame. Since day one I've loved seeing Candace Patton in this role. She exemplifies the heart of Iris West. The writers sometimes forget this, but Candace Patton never has. Love conquers all.

@@guillemmartinez9958 Yeah, at least one crossover between flash and supergirl to say goodbye to seeing them together as a team 💔
@@karlaquintana9143 it is heartbreaking to think they won't get to say goodbye😭😭😭
@@guillemmartinez9958 well flash is having like a 5 part crossover starting season 8 premieres in November so maybe they will
I love Jeremy!! Like his performance in Newsies just omg. He will always be one of my favorite singers
I’m surprised that with all the Jeremy Jordan love that she hasn’t reacted to any performances of his from “Smash” season 2. He’s got so many amazing songs there and his high note in Under Pressure is just unbelievable!!!
Or his performance of “Moving Too Fast” from Last 5 Years. He’s great as always but his version of that song is my favorite.
“Are they talking about H.R. at work?”
Yes, but also no.
Why was this so funny to me LMAOO
BAHHA
What's H.R. , other than the cool wells

Runnin' Home To You is a GORGEOUS song. I cry every time.
ME TOO. I want to play the song at my wedding.
Kara's version is really good
@@adrianarango8320 I agree. I wish we had a full version of the song from her
@@adrianarango8320
I like her version as well but it was definitely sped up but I just slow it down
Omg me too!
Honesty, this episode listed lots of the reasons I love the Flash. I've followed DC series for years and I never get tired of itm
Something that makes the final song even better is that in a later episode, Barry has Kara sing the proposal song at their wedding. I love both scenes they are so cute and the song is so fitting.
My favorite thing about this musical episode over any other is that the directors are like "We have enough cast members with musical backgrounds. We just won't make the others sing."
In Barry’s defence, he’s used to running into the line of fire and just being fast enough to avoid the bullets
And along those lines, most of the time bullets just bounce off of Kara.
and supergirl is used to being bulletproof
Thank you for watching the complete episode and I would love to tell your everything about the flash and supergirl.
But I just wanna thank you for how you did this and your music expertise 😍 you are really helping me even tho I'm not really learning
It was lovely seeing your reactions to the singing and dancing and to the actors and actresses in general! ☺️❤️
Why did I spend this entire video yelling "HONEY PLEASE JUST LOOK GRANT UP. THAT'S WHY HIS TAP DANCING AND PROPOSAL SONG WERE ABSOLUTELY STELLAR. HE GLEE'D"
IKR.
he’s a professional dancer before glee
Yes, "Running Home to You" shows off Grant Gustin's vocals that made him so popular during his Glee stint and his run on Broadway
i love that this episode probably just came from the fact the cw DC shows had soooo many theatre and musical actors that they figured they'd just build a plot that allowed all of them to sing
It just hit me all over again what a RIDICULOUS number of talented people were in these CW shows…
I was waiting for her to realize that Iris' Dad is played by Jesse Martin who is in Rent
I was surprised she didn't recognize John Barrowman, too...
@@ladycampion agreed he is so iconic. Guess she isnt a whovian
@@skylarramsay1389 Her loss! But maybe I'm just old... I only knew the names of the actors who played the dads. 😊
Also all of the characters who are singing in this have had a Broadway career.( John barrowman, Jesse l Martin, Carlos Valdez, grant gustin, victor garbor, etc
Edit: Jeremy jordan as well.
and grant and Melissa were both on glee at different points with Daren Chris
Melissa too!! She was in beautiful the carole king musical for a limited run,
I didn't know grant was on broadway. time to go look him up on broadway.
@@hazelfilene964 yeah I think it was west side story but i could be wrong
@@hazelfilene964 I think he was in the tour cast of West Side Story.
@@CareylovesNY yeah I just looked him up. I believed y’all when you said he was ok Broadway I just hasn’t heard that/didn’t remember 😊
I have never seen the flash but I recognized so many actors in this
You’ve got Grant, Darren and Melissa from Glee
Jeremy Jordan our king
I’m pretty sure that one guy who says “I run this town” is Collins in Rent
The guys whose Daddy Warbucks in Annie
These people are all seriously trained singers, no wonder this sounds incredible
Never got into Arrowverse content but i love seeing Hannah reacting to the surprisingly good vocals of people like John Barrowman, Victor Garber, and Jesse L. Martin. All Broadway vets who have just as much fame off stage as on. Jesse is the original Collins in Rent and Garber i believe was in the OG Godspell. And john barrowman is just amazing. He's done a ton of musical theatre and is also a gay icon on and off screen. I kind of think of him as the UKs Neil Patrick Harris.
I also noticed how they put Jeremy on the piano in the big “put a little love in your heart” number because he can’t dance
I WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO SAY THAT LIKE OF COURSE EVERYONE IS IN THE DANCE NUMBER WHILE JEREMY JUST HAPPENS TO BE PRE OCCUPIED
Well Jeremy is an accomplished piano player. Even when he starred in the series Smash, his role was the song composer for the musical that was being written within the show.
YESS omg lmao
LMAO UR RIGHT I DIDNT NOTICE
I’m sure he could have done that choreography.
“Wasn’t he in vampire diaries.” Kai is the truth and he’s married to Supergirl IRL. This was an amazing episode
Not anymore. They are divorced
