My unsolicited opinion is to avoid individual blame and institute daily clean up routines for all along with clear and consistent consequences. Basically, everyone in your house should be responsible for cleaning up daily, not weekly, because the mess will build up and it becomes too much to tackle at once vs doing a little each day.

Consequences for the boys for not doing their chores?!?!? This might alleviate a lot of yalls stress. 3 of the 4 are old enough to have responsibilities and consequences for not fulfilling those responsibilities. Will help prepare them for the real world.
The boys lose privileges ALL OF THE TIME. They get lectured by both of us at different times. They, however, are still absent minded boys that need constant reminders. Even from their father.

The clutter happens when there's are no consistent, enforced organizational habits. Leaving shoes downstairs for a week or unboxing without flattening and disposing of the box immediately would drive me Crazy! Angel really needs an office with a sofa and floor mirror specific for her where all mail, shoes, and a solid door to close. All of that in an open room like the dining is madding to Tank. The living room blankets need a storage ottoman. My kids knew if I found something that was out of place it was out of the house. Period.

Living room ottomans are awesome! Maybe a bin for Angel's shoes would help to. It would get the shoes out of the way. Then she can take the bin upstairs when it gets full.
Happy New Year Angel & Tank!!! So constructive criticism: 1) If I'm not mistaken Angel, I believe you've mentioned before that you suspect that you have ADHD. It would help a lot if you developed and implemented a routine around DAILY cleaning tasks as a fam and COMMITTED to it. Before heads hit beds, "Are the dishes clean? Has the hallway been cleared? Is the living room neat? Have the garbage cans been checked?". There are too many ppl, young men at that, in the house for everything to be falling on your shoulders now that they're older. I would be very specific. Assign the particular tasks and set a timer as a daily reminder. For ex., timer goes off at 7:30 daily, chores should be done by 8:00. 2) You treat those kids WELL! There's no reason you should be repeating yourself multiple times. I wouldn't even raise my voice to them. I would just tell them, "Run me those electronics. If chores aren't getting done, no screen time. No exception." Good luck y'all! 😅
I totally agree with this. If everyone has responsibilities, it makes life so much better. I have OCD, REAL BAD! So much so, when it got too overwhelming for me, when the kids were little, there was 1 hr of screen time a day, no TV though during the week. If they didn't listen, they would lose TV time on Saturday, then Sunday. After a month, everyone was with the plan, lol, worked perfectly for all of us. Gotta teach them young small responsibilities, or they will run all through the house boundaries with little concept of what it truly means to be a team player.
FYI, I divorced a whole husband because of this. I felt like he dismissed my need for cleanliness and took it as a joke. I was suffocating, out in the open, and he thought nothing of it. There was more, but I say this to say, you and others are spot on. For someone who has OCD, not having things in order trickles in other aspects of life.
My sister has ADHD as well, so we have to reign her in sometimes with a pep talk and the constant assistance of asking her to focus.

I'm glad y'all brought this topic up. I'm OCD and I recognise that in Marcus. I don't mean this in no disrespectful way, but I had to stop watching most of your home vlogs because the messiness in the background would bother me. It seems like the kids know Angel let's most things slide so they don't care to do things immediately, while they do the opposite to Marcus. Angel... you laughing at his fustration is like someone laughing at you feeling a way about someone chewing or breathing out loud.
Advice... don't let things pile up for a week. Cleaning up after oneself should be a daily routine.

This is the most gifts I’ve seen these boys receive for Christmas…..They are all big enough including AMAR to pick up behind themselves to help their parents who work hard and sacrifice for them to have decent lifestyle. You two are old enough to be my children and I think about how I would react to my grandsons if they didn’t help their parents around the house. It’s not that hard but it can be hard when everyone especially the children are not held accountable…… Praying for you all Never stopped…I see a blessing on a more positive manner that will bless the issue that dwells among this Family. Had to come from listening on Spotify to drop a line here - I may potentially be ADHD so I EASILY create and maintain clutter but I also struggle with anxiety and that clutter makes me feel AWFUL. In that I’ve learned that I need to design my home around my ADHD habits to mease my anxiety-so for the Tanksley family (not just Angel or Marcus because like all the other commenters said, these kids are old enough to pull their weight) I would recommend rethinking how your home is design to accommodate. Maybe the downstairs closet becomes a “common shoes” closet so that the shoes everyone wears most often have a home downstairs instead of always being left on the side somewhere waiting to get taken up. Also 1) some kind of chore tracker that holds the kids accountable with incentives AND consequences based on their fulfillment of responsibilities and 2) an admin day where once a month Marcus and Angel come together to go through and filter mail + assess where their organization systems may be failing to correct them.
They aren't doing their chores because you don't MAKE them! That's your fault. The saying 'love your sons and raise daughter's came about because of this kind of ish.

Tank reminds me of Julius on Everybody Hates Chris: he held it down and did everything great when Rochelle went to work, and she hated it.
Did I detect some passive aggression from Angel during this podcast? I thought she hated passive aggression in people.😕I see both of their sides, but what I think would help is if Tank would get on the boys about not following their mother's instructions. (That's something my Dad would not have tolerated.) If the boys ignore/forget Angel's instructions, there should be consequences. Lovely family.

The reason why they are nonchalant about cleaning and chores is because she is nonchalant about cleaning chores. I remember watching the vlogs while she was on tour. Those boys cleaned up.
I agree with the previous poster who said that all mail should go into the office so that she can sort through them at her leisure, especially packages. Shoes can go at the bottom of the stairs but by the end of the night they need to be upstairs in the bedrooms, The boys can do more than garbage.

It's hard watching couples argue, I usually don't watch! But I get both sides, Angel has said several times, ALL the responsibility falls on her and she has said she's not the most organized person! A schedule is need because my good sis has a lot on her. Now for the Aquarian, besides him being a clean person, we witnessed him shutting down. When we, Aquarians said we DON'T want to talk about something, Believe us. If you force it, you will get the shut down, annoyed, just hurry up. And if you tell us we have an attitude when we don't, we are just annoyed, we will then get an attitude!

I'm with Marcus on clutter. Tanksley Tiff was very good and the first time I've seen that segment. I go through similar situations but I only have one child in the house and a infant granddaughter who is here a lot because her mama is back to work. Talk about clutter, my living room and dining room looks like a daycare center.

I know for me that my parents took away my phone once and after that they never had to ask me again to do chores. I literally still cooked for my mom and made her lunch until I was 25 years old. When you enforce rules and start taking things away and making consequences, kids will listen.

Ooooo Angel, love you sis but....yeah. If the boys don't do the chore properly the first time go GET them & make them do it again. They are well old enough to to it properly. Children will do whatever they can get away with. You are actually modeling the behavior that you DON'T want. If you start putting YOUR things away same day they will listen to you when you tell them to do it. Right now its not a priority to them because you don't even do it. Now Tank you gotta do better about the mail. Whomever gets the mail out the box take it to the office, take 15-20 minutes to sort it according to importance. Packages should go to the office as well.
If you concentrate on keeping the living spaces decluttered that will help.
There is a lot of pressure on moms to keep the physical household in order. My husband and I have this conversation frequently. What/how our kid eats, wears, acts + the cleanliness of our home, are all more often seen by the public as a reflection of me and my parenting versus him.
For me and most of my girlfriends, the division of labor in our homes are not equal. As moms, we often take on more mentally and physically than our counterparts. Illness, appointments, mental wellness, appearance, nutrition, education - all this and more are constantly at the forefront of our minds. Good moms are most often the heart of our homes and keep so much of it together. This can feel like an honor and a burden.
And this doesn't take away from the fact that Father's and husbands pulls their weight but ours is just heavier and certainly different in the grand scheme of things.
For me and mine, whenever things get a bit out of sync, we come together to make adjustments so that each of us feels safe, cared for and content at home. So it's less about who is doing what and more about what is needed, what systems make sense, and whatever is decided doesn't leave both or one of us feeling overwhelmed.
I see the frustration in both Angel and Marcus around this topic and y'all definitely ain't alone. With love, understanding and leaning into each other's strengths and committing to rituals and systems that positively impact how your home flows, y'all can have more harmony in this area.

Angel, yall need a housekeeper. The kids aren't going to do it all the time. A family of 6, everyone gotta pitch in. And when something is not done, you just have to do it so the place is not a mess.
We had one but they weren’t good. We have been wanting to get new ones though DESPERATELY 😫😫😫
A housekeeper should supplement not supplant. Everyone should still be responsible for cleaning and tidying. It will instill responsibility in the boys because those are basic life habits and skills that they need to have.
I agree with Tank, clutter gives me bad anxiety. I can't function in it at all. I couldn't imagine living in it and the people that you live with are lackadaisical about it. I don't think Angel should have laughed when he was clearly trying to choose his words wisely and not attack her. I agree that daily tidying and cleaning should definitely take place daily. Having a big family means that things will accumulate quicker just from daily life but if you do a little each day it makes it easier to handle instead of letting it build up.
@SanayasMommie yes that's true. My statement was based on the fact that both parents are very busy and one parent is a little more un tity than the other. So where one adult is inconsistent with cleaning and the other isn't. It also gives children an inconsistent impression of maintaining cleanliness. Therefore, a housekeeper is necessary. Someone to come in 2-3x per week to help out. Which will give the parents more time to do other things and allow time for them to get the children in a consistent habit. And believe me, I'm not judging. I HATE cleaning after people. Especially able body people. So I will walk past trash like "yall clean up behind yourself." My family size is smaller, so we can manage a little better. And sometimes I feel like hiring a housekeeper. And the place isn't dirty. I just don't want to do it.

I think a lot of good ideas fir how to organize the home have been given. Let's also keep in mind that while cleaning up is important, other things are important as well. Angel is the main one who cooks, she is in charge of the "elf family" on a shelf, she did the Kwanzaa activities, as she mentioned, she is in charge of the ads for the podcast, she appears to be in charge of making sure the boys have the right size clothing. She admitted to not being organized. But she is also asking for help in some areas.
It sounds like it's time to give the boys weekly chores and reward them with screen time, since that's what they like to do. It also sounds like it's time to do some purging from everyone in the house.
Maybe calling in an organizer might be a good segment for the fam and podcast. I know that Angel is the draw to the podcast, but all of the family is participating in the vlogs, so they should also participate in the cleaning and organizing of the house.

First, thank you for all the engagement because you are all up and through these comments. I think what you are missing is that he is claiming ALL OF THE MESS is mine. It’s mostly the children’s (outside of our room) but I get blamed for all of it. I get blamed for the mail, their purged clothes, their clean clothes, the dishes, ON TOP OF my stuff. And the fact is, I clean a different area everyday. I can’t do it all by myself. 🤷🏾♀️

This is sad. There seems to be no consequences for the boys not doing what is expected or told to them. They are following an example of noncompliance to what is cleanliness and order. Putting your items away should be a no brainer.
