This year, my cousins and I got an air bnb for Christmas. All of us with our significant others and children stayed at the house, but the elders came for breakfast, gift opening and then again for Christmas dinner. All families were there. It was perfect. We are doing it again this year. I love my family. It was the best.

I went into labor in Target 4 days before Christmas with my 5 year old. Instead of leaving I told my husband we had to get snacks because the hospital will not let me eat once I check in. Lines all the way down the aisles. The Target manager opened a a whole new line for me to checkout because my contractions were about 5 mins apart.
Well Praise Jesus! Talk about Favor, CONGRATULATIONS on your Bundle of Joy and to getting them SNACKS!

Hey Melissa, for your family holiday idea maybe you could consider getting a really nice Airbnb down south. I'm sure Atlanta has some nice luxury spots that you can look into (probalby Houston too). That way you still have control over your gatherings but you can choose how big or small you want the home/venue to be...plus it doubles as your hotel 🙂. Start looking now before everything is booked.

There is definitely something to be said about not being able to have your entire family together for the holidays AND people don't understand that regardless of what's going on or what happened to the family dynamic, does not mean you cannot long for the fellowship of everyone being together. I am all for wanting to be with everyone during the holidays. Don't worry about getting over it Liss, if you're like me you'll find a way to make it work so that you get to enjoy everyone at the same time! Do you my love, you deserve it!

Another thought on the fractured family thing- even though it’s an extra planning burden it’s still a blessing to have two living parents. My husband and I both only have our mothers and it’s nice and simple and then also sad ☹️

I feel the same way Liss does about families and Holidays and one of my solutions were to have 1 big Christmas get together before christmas, but also that I can just randomly have get togethers or go visit. May not match your lifestyle since you would have to fly but once a quarter can be done.

I used to blame the government for the student loan crisis, I blame the greedy colleges that keep raising tuition waaaay before inflation took hold.
Also, college is not for everyone. I have lost count of my friends who have not even graduated and have thousands of debt for nothing.
56:57 that’s a bit of a Catch-22, if a relationship doesn’t have purpose & substance, then it will be surface. It feels like Melissa is referring to surface. The season of life is a big part of it because, at the end of the day, you won’t make a surface friend a priority because your time is precious.

Speaking of stealing... this one time at Costco I put two cases of wine in my cart and when I went to checkout the cashier asked if the cases were alcohol and I said yes. So later at home I reviewed the receipt and noticed the alcohol wasn't charged...so really it's not my fault bc he asked and didn't do what he was supposed to do 😂
I would have taken it back and paid for it!

Every time I'm in line for too long, I consider just putting some cash down and walking out. And don't let it be something I don't need and the line is long, everything will get abandoned IMMEDIATELY. 😂
Two choices you can take when saving for your kids. 1. Get an online savings account (they're fdic insured) because they tend to have a higher interest rate, mine currently is 4, almost 5 percent... Or you can open an UGMA/UTMA investing account and get that money in the stock market for them and you can't take it out and also you have to transfer the account to them once they're of age. It's their money to do what they want with.
