    Jason, thanks for all that you and the members in your department do to protect the folks of your community. Especially times like these, as we see in the video, being out there in the field can be dangerous. Thanks from all the way out here in Hawaii.

    Jason is there is an award for firefighter of the year in Kentucky, you and your department deserve it. IDK how you stayed calm and cool over the radio with a tornado bearing down on you like that...

      We all had to try and stay calm, panic only makes the outcome worse.

    my friend here in East Tennessee last april we had several tornado's touch down , one split into 2 funnels about 1000 yards behind my home , and went about 500 yards by me on each side , very scary , but after it came through , I left in my tow truck to check on family , and friends , the next tornado I encountered I was running from like you were , very scary in a 10,000 lb truck on curvy roads , I am glad you also had an angel along for the ride to protect you ! best of luck getting rebuilt !

    Watching these videos makes it seem that we're right there with you. Being new into the law enforcement field I dread the day I have to venture out in this kind of weather. Stay safe out there.!

    towrecker sent me over. I thank God you guys are ok. My family and I will do what we can to help. Our town was battered by a huge long track tornado last year as well. It left a path of destruction somewhere around 50-60 miles long. Somewhere around 20 ppl dead and thousands of homes and business damaged and even swept completely away. It takes the hand of God to protect one from a force like that. That tornado skated by about a mile from my house. I will never forget that devastation.

    While hunkered down here in Louisville, I was watching our local TV coverage from WAVE 3, heard them say that the twin twisters where now across the Ohio river. Just a few minutes after that, we heard the say that that a fire station had been destroyed. Guess that was you guy. Great work spotting man! You guys efforts save many lives I'm sure.

    Great series. Awesome light setup, too. I am sorry about what happened to Engine 8563, the '83 Spartan. Spartan now has some awesome new engines, and they also recently invented a 138' Articulated Latter. 138 FEET! Here in Irondequoit, NY, there are 5 fire districts, and I can tell you about them in a Personal Message.

    Jason -- have to give you and your colleagues credit for keeping you calm during this worst case scenario. If this happened in another part of the country, the officers would be screaming on the radio. Professional volunteers -- that's what y'all are! Lou

    Jason, You're awesome. I would shit my pants if I knew that a tornado would hit one of my stations and destroy equipment, especially if I'm a chief in a non-taxing area. Keep going strong guys!

    As far as I'm concerned, you, sir earned your entire years pay by this part of the video. You earned my respect, sir. Not that I know, or anything, but you can't chase these puppies when you're high. You could end up naked at a Shoney's, or something.

    So do fire departments usually go out during tornados? Usually I think ours summon all volunteers before the storm and just sit in the station until it's done.

    • @charliewood1680
      @charliewood1680 5 лет назад

      Mainly our local police departments do but alot of volunteer firefighters have to make that decision them selves I always do since I signed up to protect and serve the public you don't get to pick and choose how you serve them if you are free at that time you respond to any calls that come through

    Amazing video and coverage of the tornado and it's nice that everyone had there eye to the sky while it touched Down and lifted. I'm not no storm chaser but it looks like to me that storm was a Super Cell which means it can constantly put down tornadoes.. Again (8501) excellent coverage

    But . . but . . but . . you're not supposed to run away from a tornado.
    Yeah right.
    There is no way this gentleman was going to get out of his car/truck and lie in a ditch, when he's in a vehicle that could possibly get away from the tornado.
    I know it's his job to be a storm spotter in this situation, but even if he wasn't emergency personnel, he was NOT getting out of that car/truck.
