    Miche Beauty is the line I use most. My favorite combo is Detox (shampoo), Cleansed(moisture shampoo FAV), Lavish (leave in), Sculpt (gel) & Set (mousse). They also have a seasonal deep conditioner I absolutely Love, the Sweet Pumpkin Spice (She is that Girl). I try to follow their instructions by using a small amount of leave in (‘cause they say you really don’t need it (but I do) and it may flake if you use too much. I use in shower 4 sections to put it in and so as not to put too much and then comb through with my Pattern wet brush. Place a plastic cap on for about 3-5 minutes. Them apply Sculpt (instructions say to use lots of water with this product. I use a spray bottle) and only use about a quarter size amount before I go in with Set. I only need 2-3 pumps per section. Sit under the dryer for 30 minutes then diffuse. Perfect every time. (Except that one time I was in a hurry and had to go somewhere and I didn’t get to sit under the dryer and had to let it air dry. The curls were cute but it didn’t last. For me sitting under the dryer for at least 30 minutes works fine. My hair is thick but medium density. I Love Miche products.

      Thanks for this. I just got my order of Miche DC, leave in and Set mousse. Good to know it's good to use the leave in with it, since they say the mousse alone is enough, but my hair is kind of dry after having applied henna recently. I don't have the sculpt gel, so might need to either skip that or use something else. Any recommendation for something you find to be similar to the sculpt gel?

    Okay….So, I’m sitting here watching you explain how you band your hair (which I do as well, but I use two scrunches….one at the root and one about 2” from the ends) and you rolled right into showing how you leave your side edges out of the scrunchies so the curls don’t get destroyed (stretched out)!! WOW!!!! AMAZING!!!! 11:23 I immediately pulled up my bonnet and released the curls from the scrunchies on either side of my head, like you demonstrated!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! It’s all the little things you do in your videos that have really helped me!! Thanks again!!!!!

    I felt the same way about the material of the buff. I personally didnt like how my hair felt after sleeping in one so now I put a satin scarf on first as a barrier between my hair and the buff. That has worked for me to help keeping my wash n gos lasting longer and not waking up with irreparable bed head in the morning.
    Also just want to say I appreciate how thorough and detailed you are when explaining your experience with these foams. It gives a really good picture of what to expect in terms of look, feel, and application experience. You're doing a great job with the series. Thank you for your videos, I really learn a lot. With my nighttime routine, I find that when I take out the scrunchies, I don't like how my hair looks. So, I used to try to manipulate and fluff it with my hands. But now I find that if I take out the bands and let gravity get the hair/let the hair fall into place while I get other things done for like 10 mins, i manipulate it less. Or maybe I just get used to what it looks like, lol.

    So now that I'm going to the gym 3 - 4 times per week, I've reinstituted co-washing after each gym session and only shampoo once a week. This was inspired by you even though I had bad experiences with cowashing in the past (inflamed scalp). Since I'm working out so much, I mainly use foams/mousse as a styler since i need it to dry fast and i don't need my hair to last more than a couple days. I didn't think my hair would agree, but cowashing is making this journey really easy. Currently using the Ouidad Cleansing Conditioner and its lovely.

      @@rozzie1569 YASSSS you are so right because the children now aren’t getting relaxers and parents are more aware how to take care of natural hair . The kids now only wear natural styles. Taking care of their natural hair will be the norm for them . Not viewed as a burden or “nappy”. It will be the norm for a black child to have Afro textured hair mid back and waist length 😍. Best believe others will copy . If you go look at pictures from the 70’s there were plenty of white people with “Afros” 🙃
      Im 27 and I’ve been natural since I was 12 , but I was the natural that kept my hair put away in braids, then sew-ins, then wigs . Never fully embraced the natural, I didnt know how to care for it . At the age of 25 I became a conscious natural. Been loving the journey every since .

    I was going to recommend the paddle brush, I'm glad you're finding success with it now! I would like to add what I do for my routine if you feel like reading lol. I wash twice a week atm because I swim in a chlorinated professional pool. I have been natural just about my whole life and I just dyed my hair for the first time about 9 months ago- I am 34 lol.
    I have recently fallen in love with The Doux products. It was a long time coming because I was so skeptical about the one product claims, but the kicker has been the simplicity and consistent results. I diffuse, but using warm air and do not flip and move and such while I am doing that. I do that until like I can tell my hair is starting to absorb the water and product ( like 25-50 % if i have time to airdry the rest or 75 - 85% if I am short on time). Then, once completely dry and ONLY once COMPLETELY dry, do I break the cast. Even having been natural for 24 or so years, I still spend a good chunk of time learning more and more about my own natural hair and witnessing other's journeys. It's so beautiful!

I use reflex serum as a primer, then I use their soothe and restore foam throughout and brush through my sections. For extra hold I glaze on their high definition gel. I've really gotten into glazing a mousse or gel on my hair last. I always thought that was for a different hair type than I have. But I can really make my mousse work to give me more volume if I use it this way. Or I can get my gel to lock my hair in place. I also get some great clumping when I glaze.

    Are you still doing co washes now? I’ve done cowashes before, but I tend to do it more so if I want to rejuvenate or if I’m tired.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  3 месяца назад +1

      Not really. I’ve just been shampooing almost every day. I found that co washing with a regular conditioner was just adding buildup to my hair, which was turn adding buildup to my scalp, making it itch and irritating my dermatitis. Now, I use moisturizing shampoo or even co wash cleansers in the morning to clean my scalp and then do a double shampoo on the weekend and deep condition. I still condition my hair after I shampoo it during the week as well. I’m just style with a cream or just a leave in conditioner.

      @@BrittanyMia do you see any benefits of washing your hair every day? Or often during the week?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  3 месяца назад +1

      @@nickiawalker645 I do. at first I thought it would dry my hair out, but I’m finding that it’s helping me keep my hair detangled and moisturized. But most importantly, it’s keeping my scalp clean. I haven’t been doing this for very long so I can’t say for sure what it is, but all I know is that my dermatitis isn’t flaring up and the sensitivity that I felt on my scalp is going away.
      To dry it quickly I plop my hair while I get dressed for work and then I diffuse it for 15 minutes. I always use a leave in product with heat protectant in it since I diffuse my hair. I can’t air dry because I need my scalp to dry so I don’t get a flareup. I need to make a video on this but only time will tell how this goes.

    Hi! Great content. Really appreciate you. You mentioned the Dickey method yesterday , ive been doing research every since. Makes sense. Dickey mentions to heat stretch hair after was n go but doesnt explain why. His video that shows method is private also. Do you know why he recommends to heat stretch hair? Wondering if this also damaging to hair if Im washing it wvwry 1 to 2 days.. thanks

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад

      I believe he recommends stretching the hair because our hair coils up once it’s highly conditioned and styled. It can begin to tangle on itself again easily just because that’s the nature of our hair, but if we stretch our hair with heat, we are avoiding that and the damage would be nil due to the highly conditioned state of our hair. With a good balance of bond builders/proteins/and moisturizing products such as deep conditioners and conditioners that coat our strands (and the heat protectant if you want to implement one) using a blow dryer on medium high heat to stretch the hair would not be damaging. I’ve been stretching my hair with heat and I’ve watched many naturals over the years stretch their washing goes with heat on a consistent basis and they did not experience heat damage. However, I cannot attest to everyone’s hair.
      This is also why I band at night so that I don’t have to heat stretch every single day. If I decide to make my wash and go last for two or three days instead of cowashing every day, the banding helps to maintain that stretch. Hope this helps! 💖

    Why do you shampoo twice a week? Does your hair get really oily and dirty that fast? Isn’t that drying for your hair?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад +3

      Most recently I was shampooing twice a week so that I could try multiple mousse products without them interfering with each. I think it depends on the shampoo that you use because some people can shampoo twice a week and their hair isn’t dried out, but I’ve noticed, as my hair gets longer shampooing more than once a week is starting to dry out the ends of my hair a lot quicker than it used to. My scalp gets sweaty and dirty because I workout hard and spend a lot of time walking around the downtown area and there’s a lot of stuff in the air. I have sensitive skin, however, water washing has been working well to get the debris out of my scalp and just cowashing my hair is helping my hair, maintain its moisture and hydration in between my weekly shampoos.
      Sidenote, I was shampooing twice a week for a while when my hair was shorter too and it worked out okay, but I was also using uncle funky’s daughter curly magic each wash day. Even with the double shampooing, my hair started to feel over conditioned, which is why I was shampooing twice a week back then as well. UFD has a lot of moisture in it, and I was using a good amount each wash day, which I think helped lead to the over conditioning of my hair. Now that I am more balanced, and I don’t really use it my hair dries quicker and it feels stronger. Not saying that UFD was the issue, but highly moisturizing gels such as that one can take a long time to dry because of the amount of water it was holding in my hair, and it was basically a gel that could be used as a leave in conditioner. It defined my curls so well, but since I like bigger hair, and the UFD gives me more defined flat hair I’ve been moving away from that product.

NO SCRUNCHIES!! You're doing a wonderful job on your beautiful hair. I love your hair it's beautiful.
