    Let me just say this. I have been watching natural hair videos for over 10 years. You absolutely are the most consistently thorough person I watch. The way you walk through several days, give your honest opinions, and even show a second wash day is truly amazing content! You stand out and not blend in with the community. I know as your channel grows this may change but I really hope you stay true to this type of content. Shine honey shine!!!

    I’m a product mixer!! I don’t have time for all the layering! I mix 3 gels in a bowl before applying…then one application and done! Definitely worth trying. Then you can control the amount of the one you use for moisture, the one for hold, the one for smoothing because you add various amounts. At least that’s how I approach it.

    HI Brittany!
    I noticed you were using the Denman to detangle. When detangling using a brush tool (paddle/Denman) I consitently get the best detangle from holding the brush vertically, then switching to horizontal to clump/define the curls when styling. Hope that can make it easier for you also!

    I’ve tried the Pattern Curl Gel, Styling Cream and Strong Hold Gel. They are ALL very hydrating and my curls were defined with each of them. The question to ask is, “For How Long Did I Have those Curls?”. Curl gel: Soft, defined curls that didn’t last more than 3 days. Styling Cream: Great curls that were soft and seemed to last apx 4 days. The Strong Hold Gel: Definitely provides a Strong Hold! Curls last 7 days!! But initially produced that stiff ‘cast’ feeling on my strands which can be easily remedied with normal daily moisturizing (something I have to do). My curls became soft pliable and very flexible (easily moves in a breeze). I got the best results when I used leave-in followed with Strong Hold Gel. My strands were overwhelmed when I layered leave-in then styling cream/cream moisturizer followed with strong hold gel. Too much moisture!!!!!! Pattern really is a fabulous brand for keeping strands moisturized while giving curl definition that rocks!!

      @@staciegreene2262 Sorry for the delay in responding to your question! YES!!! My Pattern curl product experiences are all with Wash-n-go. I have not used Pattern curl products on twist outs. On twist outs I use a leave-in or TGIN Daily Moisturizing Cream followed with TGIN Honey Curls Custard. My hair just doesn’t’t keep that twist out definition. It reverts to a hybrid form of Wash-n-go with super curled ends bec of that twirling thing we do to keep the twist from coming unraveled. Definitely Pateern is my ‘go to’ for Wash-n-go’s. Strong Hold Gel over Pattern Leave-in for hot humid weather. Definition rocks for 7 days WITH volume!!! Good Luck!! 🥰

    July 28th 2023, I used the pattern leave in conditioner then applied the mousse then the curl gel on top. I was scared it wouldn’t work and give me nothing but frizz but babeeee when it dried all I got was awesome definition and defined curls that would snap back when I would finger stretch them out! Soft pillowy curls!!! I’m in love and I will be stock piling this mousse!! It will be on auto delivery❤️❤️❤️ the curl gel caused it to take longer to dry I believe so I’m purchasing the Pattern hair dryer as well should arrive in 5 days so I will have it for my next wash n go.

    0:26 whenever you find you need a thorough shampoo just use clarifying shampoo once and follow up with a moisture shampoo or just use it twice. good clarifyiers: giovanni 50/50, carol's daughter wash day delight, melenin's black soap, or paul Mitchell's shampoo two/ three(depending on if you have hard water or swim), kinky curly come clean.

    i think the trick to mousse is using a styling brush to clump your curls. i watched yar sudani’s mousse only wng and they used a tangle teezer to kinda do the shingling for them. she has tighter coils than you so a tangle teezer might not be the brush for you. but i noticed the same thing with mousse and clumping my coils into big chunks. i HATE shingling so that was super annoying. my hair’s super short so a tangle teezer isn’t an option rn but i plan on trying to use a 3 row comb to separate & clump my coils for my mousse wng’s.

  • @cflo8451
    @cflo8451 Год назад +5

    1st of all, I ❤ your videos!!! One suggestion if I may, when mixing products together try to put less creme or leave-in and more gel. When a creme or leave-in is very moisturizing it overpowers the gel and the hold it should have and messes with the application process which I think it’s why you didn’t like it at first. I wanted to have a one product wash and go once so I’ve mix in a bowl Carol’s Daughter coco creme which is EXTREMELY moisturizing with some olive oil Echo Styler and went with a ratio of 1:3. My best wash and go ever. The hold, the shine, the definition, the drying time… everything was on point!!! It even lasted a good 4-5 days if I remember correctly.. With Patterns products it might even be better since they use better ingredients than Echo Styler

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад +3

      Thank you! That’s true, I used the same amount of each so that probably didn’t help with moisture to gel ratio! I’ll keep that in mind for the future, thank you for sharing 🖤.

    Have you watched Rosie amalia’s recent videos about curly cuts? I feel like you recently got a cut so your ends should be doing well. And for styling, I use two products so I apply them one after the other, then shingle. So when I’ve gone through my whole head, I’m done. That could also be another method for you. This came out bomb!

    • @BrittanyMia

      I have. I’m privy to all the conversation going on about curly cuts and I plan on getting my hair blown out for my next trim/haircut. I did just get a haircut, but it wasn’t a trim. It was mostly a shaping haircut. I thought she would take off more hair for the shape, but didn’t really need to so I was still left with split ends. (Still loved the shape, just needed more taken off)
      Now that I’ve experimented with getting curly cuts for a year, I’m learning that it’s best to get the hair blown out and trimmed. Once that’s done if shape needs to be addressed, then it can be addressed once it’s properly trimmed.
      I go back-and-forth with product application lol but thank you for sharing what you do!

I like to use Olaplex No.5 as my main cowash but I’m also looking for some other alternatives. I don’t like cowashing with cowashing products because many of them feel like moisturizing shampoos. I make sure not to add the conditioner to my scalp to avoid inflammation. Once I get a thorough trim when my hair is blown out, I’m going to test out daily cowashing, but every other day is my sweet spot for now.

      @@BrittanyMia Love it! It’s something I’m also toying with and was planning on making a series on. Btw, I just tried Anthony Dickeys Non-Sudsing Cream Wash and it didn’t feel like normal shampoo at all. But I followed it with a sudsing shampoo because it was my first shampoo in 7 days. 😅 I’m really curious on how you’re handling the drying time each time you cowash/wash your hair? I think that’s the hardest part to me. 😅
      Also, you mentioned your upcoming cut. I recently got my hair cut on blown out hair. I was getting routine curly cuts but they weren’t addressing all of my split ends. So my hair started being harder to detangle & style. Now it’s a breeze and no longer feels like Velcro on the ends. 🙌🏽

      I was curious about that shampoo and I plan on giving it a try in the future. Although it's a shampoo, it visually reminds me of a co-wash or cleansing conditioners. Yeeeeah, the dry time is the most annoying part of the process for me. It takes like an hour, and i'm not a fan of air-drying.
      I saw Rosies video on curly cuts that you were in, and Narada's lives on curly cuts, and it really solidified some concerns i'd been having. I've been getting fairly routine cuts for a year now (the longest I went was 5 months) and the detangling is never a breeze even after the trims. Do you use a dryer everyday when you do a wash and go? I follow this method too. And I subscribed.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад

      Only on the days when I wet my hair. So if I could wash every other day and then shampoo on the weekends, those are the days that I use a dryer. I may use my blow dryer to stretch some pieces on the other days but this past week or so I’ve just not been stretching my hair because it’s too much to maintain.

    You mentioned your ends are you do for a trim?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад +2

      Yes, they are. My last haircut was just for shape and I really needed a thorough trim. I thought the shaping would take off more hair, but it did not so I’m still left with some split ends that I believe will only be mitigated by getting a proper blow out to thoroughly assess my end at this point.

    I've tried the curl gel from Pattern and it flaked so badly for me. I think other less expensive gels work better or maybe I need to use mousse with it.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад +3

      If it flaked then I wouldn’t reuse it. Of course you can try again, but usually when a product flakes on me it’s going to do that no matter what I combine it with. And there’s no need to make it work since you have other products that work for you. Just my opinion 🖤.

    Do you believe that rinse out conditioners work the same as formulated co-washes as far as “cleansing”. I’m not a co wash girl, actually the opposite 😂. Give me the sulfates chile. But I want to know because I have one or two conditioners I want to use up .

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад +1

      No, I don’t believe that rinse out conditioners work the same as formulated cowashes because they are conditioners and not cleansers. Cowashes are literally very gentle cleansing agents. And sulfates are useful. I also use sulfates in my shampoo products when necessary. I hope this helps 💖.

    i've never seen you use the uncle funkys with the kinky curly custard...do you think they would wok well together or at least not flake?

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад +1

      It reminds me of when I use the curl maker with the kinky curly Custard. They’re too similar and would give a weighed down or heavy look. There is potential for the combination took like depending on your hair. It’s just different for everyone.

    Yooo, I thought I was the only natural on Planet Earth who despises the Tangle Teezer! I tried the one designed for thick, curly hair a couple times, and it was flaming hot garbage for me. Way too much tugging, and it felt as though the bristles weren’t even gliding through my hair all the way. I really hate throwing things away, but after a couple of detangling attempts, that thing was basura.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад

      😭 I swear I’ve purchased that brush at least three different times and each time I ended up giving it away to my nieces. With really short TWA curls I absolutely loved it, but as my hair got longer, it just felt like I was working really hard to make it work.

      This comment is funny because I bought a TT back in like 2011 and loved it. Bought one again this year and it DID NOT WORK AT ALL.
      Like you pointed out, there was too much tugging and very little flexibility in the bristles. They ruined it.

      I wanted to love it, but I ended up tossing my tangle teezer. It felt like it was ripping out so much hair. The Kiss Colors Wet/Dry detangling brush glides through like butter. The only thing I hate is that getting to my scalp in small sections is difficult because of how big it is.

    Your curls looked better after the cowash. The moisture left your hair pretty fast the next day. I think those products might be for finer / silky hair. Pattern thick cream is better than that gel cream. The last two videos you did with pattern were good for your hair not these products

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Год назад

      I agree. I thought I could get away with making a gel cream work, but it’s definitely for silkier textures. I believe the leave-in and the buttercream paired with the custard are more for my type of hair. Even paired with the Mousse. The gel cream isn’t moisturizing enough. Tfs!
