Gosh, the number of penfluencers they have sent this to! 😮 Glad you weakened and decided to review it.

Yea for the grammar/ vocabulary lesson! Seriously: more please.
I’d also be worried about the scales wearing on a pen. And, honestly, I’d also be nervous about thrusting anything down the throat of that thing.
Be careful, David! And thanks for the review.

Always appreciate your honest reviews. I’ve seen other reviews of this and no one mentioned the potential to harm the pen. Maybe they could polish down where the pen rests but id be hesitant to use it with any pen that would justify and $80 holder

Absolutely stunning, but yeah I would also be scared of it scratching up my pen. I've never liked the idea of pen stands but something about having that on a desk is really appealing. If I was still considering a carer in teaching I might actually consider this. I'd be that one teacher who has a ridiculous amount of cool stuff on their desk, kids would waste time in class by asking me about stuff like this and I wouldn't be able to help myself from responding.

I feel like it belongs on display itself, not displaying a pen. I would love looking at the detail, but you’re right about potential scratches.

This company is certainly using penfluencers to get the word out -- this thing is everywhere lately. I"d love to see them make a dragon (with smooth areas where the pen rests). I realize it wouldn't be the same shape, but I prefer dragons over snakes (not triggered by snakes though).

This thing has been around for a while and it was not originally sold as a pen stand, but lots of things can become fine pen stands that weren't made for that purpose. It may help explain though, why they haven't smoothed the area where the pen sits.

I ordered one after seeing the review from The Wet Pen and am waiting eagerly for its arrival. Good to see another mainly positive review! I don't know how much I will use it as a pen stand (my crabbie is rarely in use), but it'll look great on the desk either way. I love snakes.

Beautiful stand. Like many have said I would be worried if it would scratch the finish and material of my pens. As an incense stand, it would be very cool.
I noticed the Rubik's Cubes with all the colors the same. I think I have seen it in different colors. Am I imagining this?

Great review on what looks to be a very well crafted product!
I agree about potential scratches, but I have a LOT of "workhorse" pens that would look great perched atop this little guy. (More than just picking up and replacing a pen, all houses shake a little when a large truck rumbles down the street or when the washer and dryer are tumbling.) Two small "saddles" that could be clipped over the snake in appropriate places might work well without distracting from either the pen or the snake.

Great review, appreciate the thorough analysis and insight. Question about one remark you made about being extra cautious using an urushi pen with it. Isn't urushi purported to be extremely durable on pens? While the cost of an urushi pen certainly warrants giving it extra care, I was under the impression (based on the many pen-related videos I have watched) that urushi is quite tough....?

Scratching your pen?? Ahh, take the risk. I've thought about buying one of these, but having bought the Octopus from them, I had mixed feelings about the Wu's products. The Octopus looks cool but using it out of the box was like trying to balance a plate on a stick. Fortunately I was able to manipulate the tentacles position so they could accommodate a decent size pen. The ever popular Crabs (not from Wu) are, for anything broader than a pencil [or feather] pointless. If it doesn't work it doesn't work, put it back, forget it and move on. I think the Crabs are made in the same factory as the Children's game 'Operation'!! Though I have nothing but praise for the Benu skull rest. Functional, cool, reasonably priced.

@@user-br3sl9go3b Hello, I just found I had to position the pen, line it up so to speak. I want to place my pen on a rest without having to watch myself doing it, but I'm glad you have success with them. I might give the little fellas another try, it could be the surface they sit on (outside chance).

“[The rattle-snake’s] eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids. She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance. She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage. As if anxious to prevent all pretensions of quarrelling with her, the weapons with which nature has furnished her, she conceals in the roof of her mouth, so that, to those who are unacquainted with her, she appears to be a most defenseless animal; and even when those weapons are shewn and extended for her defence, they appear weak and contemptible; but their wounds however small, are decisive and fatal. Conscious of this, she never wounds till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of treading on her.
Was I wrong, Sir, in thinking this a strong picture of the temper and conduct of America? The poison of her teeth is the necessary means of digesting her food, and at the same time is certain destruction to her enemies. This may be understood to intimate that those things which are destructive to our enemies, may be to us not only harmless, but absolutely necessary to our existence …
‘Tis curious and amazing to observe how distinct and independent of each other the rattles of this animal are, and yet how firmly they are united together, so as never to be separated but by breaking them to pieces. One of those rattles singly, is incapable of producing sound, but the ringing of thirteen together, is sufficient to alarm the boldest man living.”
    -Benjamin Franklin

Couldn’t there be snakes with venom that won’t harm humans, but they’re still venomous? If so, wouldn’t we still need to distinguish it as non-poisonous…?

    • @The_Ossifrage
      @The_Ossifrage Год назад

Snake venom is a cocktail of proteins and other toxic compounds that affect animal tissue, and while its true that certain venoms are more or less potent or different animal species, all of them will have at least some negative effect - think of how an acid will always cause some kind of burn, even if it reacts weakly. Occasionally you may find snakes which physically can't bite humans, but they may still have a venom that could cause an injury. So you wouldn't really have a snake venom that doesn't harm humans, unless the human individual has built up a tolerance through exposure.
