    Sunderland fan here - We have had a great start to the season. New manager is a breathe of fresh air. Dennis Cirkin and Aji Alese are like new signings now they are fit. Jobe has had a rocket up his backside he has been brilliant and we now have a very in form patrick roberts who has been phenominal! And there are no words to describe 17 year old Riggy, just wow. I am very interested to see how we respond when we go a goal down, as this seemed to be one of our downfalls last season, we would concede then the teams head would drop. HAWAY THE LADS 🔴⚪️

    The amount of pundits who predicted Sunderland to do poorly this season just shows their lack of understanding and knowledge of football. Clarke leaves but we still have Patterson, Hume, Cirkin, Ballard, Neil, Rigg, Bellingham all wanted by big clubs in the premier league and Europe, we have plenty still here and looks like we might be getting a couple of strikers before the deadline which was our main issue

    The thing that has always been the case with these Sunderland players is that when things are going well and they express their raw youthful energy, then they are a force. However, when things would begin to go against them, sloppiness on the ball would massively increase, as well losing their heart, leading to woeful performances. It does help that this season we have a manager who is grounded, only celebrating a very small amount when winning or doing well, while barely reacting when there is a tough spot. Le Bris has a system that uses their young energy while keeping them focussed and grounded. It's a long season ahead and there will be a lot of tough moments, but positivity is rightly felt on Wearside right now.

    Sunderland lad here,Yeah the pressing play is impessive and i'm ower the moon BUT.we have to have a plan B and C because we will be sussed like the jack clarke thing,Other teams sussed that and it was our achilles heel and we had no plan B.I'm sure reggie will have it sorted though Haway the lads.

    Hi Ryan & Justin - Enjoyed your comments - it was great to get impartial views on SAFC performances. We've a very good squad. RLB is an astute manager/coach and very focussed + he's good on strategy and tactics. Players are buying into his team style and will get better at it over time. Mundle was succession planning for Clarke - could be as good/better in time. Ballard hasn't been missed as Alese is playing really well. Cirkin is back at LB. so with O9 & Trai Hume, we must have one of best back fours in league + Holy Trinity in midfield. We're seeing peak Patrick Roberts as well (noticed he was in great shape coming into pre-season). Mayenda is showing promise and depending on incomings, we might struggle to fit all our strikers in team. Early days yet, but RLB has been very impressive so far. Cheers. Jim

    Plymouth put up a good fight but it did result in 2 red cards, and also they had very little going forward. Morgan Whittaker will score 6-8 more of those long range goals this season, but its not gonna be enough, unless they manage to create some sort of attacking structures in their play.

    The Sheffield United points deduction relates to 2 years ago. There was a takeover about to be finalised, so the old owner temporarily stopped paying bills. Think it was Liverpool who reported us to the EFL because we stopped sending them the Brewster monthly instalment. The rules at the time were auto applied to SUFC who went onto an instant transfer embargo. They didn't need any players so the transfer embargo was no effective punishment, 2 months later the takeover fell through and the EFL threatened to issue a longer embargo if the debt was cleared, so before the end of that month SUFC cleared all their debts and transfer instalments. SUFC ended up being promoted at the end of the season. However now we're back in the EFL the league wanted to revisit their previous punishment by giving us a 2 point slap on the wrist for delaying payments. SUFC were warned that if they decided to appeal it or take legal action then the EFL would increase the points deduction.

    Scissor kick is horizontal and bicycle kick is overhead in the style of riding a bike. Think it was scissors.

    • @GGMatt
      @GGMatt 23 дня назад +1

      This myth in football never ceases to perplex me. This is the wrong way around, and 99% of football fans get it wrong.
      An overhead kick is the SCISSOR kick, named as such because when pulled off correctly your legs form the shape of an open pair of scissors.
      A bicycle kick is the upright volley in which both feet leave the floor (the classic Di Canio goal), and is named as such because it looks like you are riding an invisible bike when pulled off correctly.
      So many people get these two wrong that they've seemingly just swapped meanings now, but it is still wrong. Why would a bicycle kick involve you being upside down? Why would a scissor kick look nothing like scissors? 😂
      I'm not having a go. I just do not understand why everyone gets these wrong and the two have seemingly flipped meanings in football fans minds.

    I hope Whittaker moves to a struggling Serie A team to prove himself at that level. Many teams in that league that need a player like him to secure survival. He was linked with Lazio, but it may be a bridge too far. The safer option would be joining a team like Empoli or Udinese. Teams that play well but just don't have enough goalscorers in their side; Enough service, yet manageable expectations.
