The 3DS is not only capable of emulating the GBA: just like the WiiU and the Gamecube, it's outright hardware-compatible. Nintendo's GBA VC program is essentially the equivalent of Nintendont.

Using the Wii here is an unfair metric. Nintendo used GameSpy for the Wii's servers, and GameSpy is what shutdown in 2014. That was out of Nintendo's hands, there's no telling how long the Wii's servers would ACTUALLY have stayed online given the chance. The 3DS and Wii U are the first time Nintendo ran their own infrastructure for online games, and even then they didn't make the software themselves (it was licensed from another company called Quazal). It took until later into the Switch's life for Nintendo to actually make their own multiplayer infrastructure and software themselves
On March 27th,2024 I was wondering happened a year ago but I couldn’t remember. Then I saw this and now I’m depressed that these amazing digital shops are now dead.
I am known Nintendo Stan, but what do you mean by overpriced and underfeatured referring to the 3DS? Are you one of those people who don't like 3D? That's fine. It's not our fault your eyes don't work, Some of us like 3D. Some of us don't think it was overpriced. Some of us enjoyed most of the software Released for it, in fact, I'm still playing mine, 3D on 100% of the time. It's unfortunate we'll probably never get a successor to the 3ds sadly, because switch.
