The GR Yaris is Toyota’s halo product. It’s purely Japanese. Purely Toyota. No American or European car can touch the Yaris’s DNA. It’s a singular automobile. Kirk, you must lobby to bring the GR Yaris to U.S. soil. Just do it! Stay awesome.

@@AbrahamArthemius I’d love to see this transmission paired to the V35 and squeezed into an IS or RC. The 6AT and 8AT were good enough for 2014 and 2017, but it’s crazy that those cars haven’t really received any powertrain upgrades since then (I don’t count the IS500 as a powertrain upgrade since that powertrain has more-or-less been around since 2015).

There had been hints that Toyota was testing an eight-speed automatic on the GR Yaris at least a couple of years ago. Many people hoped for significant price drop of old model, but pricing policy for the new one will keep value of mark 1 on quite high level. I've ordered mine wit VIP package (forged rims and some extras) and auto transmission, and it will cost me above 240.000 PLN (60.000 USD with taxes). I was a huge Toyota fan for decades, but it has been difficult to be a fan since about 2000, when they started cost-cutting and creating lazy, ugly designs with low quality interiors. But I'm very excited to see them finally taking customers seriously again and responding to what we want, or at least trying hard to. This transmission could be a game changer if it's as good as it sounds...even if it only matches the ZF8 in real world performance it will unlock potential we've not seen yet from Toyota. I'm really excited to see some passion coming back to the brand. I keep wondering why they don't offer the Corolla sedan with the GR power train - think Corolla Apex with GR engine/trans. I think there would be a lot of takers, there's always a market for a practical, sporty car that hauls passengers and can do grocery duty while still being discreet and very entertaining to drive. The GR Corolla is cool but it's a very niche car with polarizing looks that you love or hate (I'm in the latter group) and offering the same power train in the sedan would open a whole new market.

    • @ArthaxtaDaVince777

Well they had the camry trd which was just a sporty sedan, nobody bought it. So they got rid of all the performance sedans as other companies like bmw do that way better. Toyota can really take the hothatch market in US and Europe if it makes a GRC with automatic that can compete with a Golf R stock. So I think that'd what they are going for and I thinks it's working, I'm seeing way more grc than golfr in the US.
