Blacksmithing - Forging a bell

- Today I show how I make a bell inspired by bells made by Uri Hofi. Quite simple and not very scientific when it comes to sound... I made three of these and the first two that I didn't capture on video both sounded better than this one, so it's a bit of hit an miss... The geometry is probably really important and that both halves are tuned together for better resonance. Anyway a fun project.

LOL :)
I liked the juxtaposition of the ancient craft of forging to the ultra-modern lawn-mowing robot!
Love the pitch and resonance of the bell. And the lawn robot was a nice touch as well as the garden "fly-through".
this was so fun to see
you have a beatiful garden
This channel is just amazing. The product has a soul a very talented Thunder Bear made this from hot steel and a hammer. The most amazing part is the precision that you have with a hammer. I just enjoy watching watching not only the backsmithing but the total care put into everything.
Thank you so much Chuck!!

Hey Thunder Bear it's amazing watching you worK and I like your Garden
Love the gardening break. It's a nice contrast to the forging, but also creating.
Just what you needed! Now, MORE COWBELL!
Loved that episode on SNL. Epic
*Oh the times have come.*
Very cool vid. I've never seen a bell like this. Glad to see the hole punched not drilled and the clapper forged not fabricated!
Thanks Jeff!

Artfully forged, creatively documented. Another "saved" video in my growing TA archive.
It must say something about the person who can make such a functional item into artwork, thanks for posting!
Masterfully done, I enjoyed every minute.
I love your videos. So calming. The bell looks very nice.

I like your starting off with a growl, Thor BEAR! Love your style as well!
When you have the right tools you can make miracles. nice work
That has to be the most clever bell I’ve ever seen on YT.
Your garden and yard is beautiful! Oh and the bell came out cool too! 😂
Great video as usual. Love that power hammer and the linseed oil.
Not to throw us all back a few hundred years but life would be so much more meaningful if we all used objects made by hand like this. Bring it back!
Really lovely job on that Thunderbear, what a lush garden too! Laughed out loud when you took a flight through the flowers! Good job!
He he, thanks! Should have added some swooshing sound fx and possibly star wars music...
That was awesome you are a real Craftsmen thank you for uploading this video
Exquisite blacksmithing - a joy to watch!
As always, awesome video! Love your work!
Why is it so pleasing to watch someone hammering hot metal? :D
You are a wonderful craftsman and it's very soothing to watch you work, thank you
Beautiful forging and a robot lawnmower in the same video!? Pure genius.
Thank you for your channel and for showing it to people. Very interesting video, looking forward to new. Best regards from Russia.🤝
What a beautiful bell sir. loved it.
Very unique design of a bell, made to perfection.
Great detailing by the good craftsman !!!
And the bell sounds soo sweet!!
You are a great artist and your photography of flowers proves that you are an artist. Thank you, I liked your work
The garden scene turned surreal. I felt as though I was watching a scene from Star Wars or another sci fi film. Colonist guy on another planet out checking his crops as a robot trundles by tending to the more mundane task of trimming the verge! The mix of your old world knowledge and skills mingling with the use of advanced technology, performing a menial chore, is kind of a minor mind blow! I love your videos.
:) Thanks T B !
vous faites toujours de telles œuvres artistiques, cette cloche est le design le plus inhabituel que j’ai vu à ce jour, le plus impressionnant comme toujours M. Ahman.
Once again another piece of artwork well done
That is a very nice piece of work! I love it.. You have a nice property too..😉👍
Your videos are great cause of the variety of techniques and projects that you do. Keep up the good work.
Power hammers make everything look so easy!
Only when the smith has the *SKILL* to make it look easy... as Torbjörn surely does. But then again, he makes *EVERYTHING* look easy.
@@BrianDaleNeeley Almost what I was fixin' to say, talent goes a long way no matter what tools you're using.
Beautiful from start to finish and everything in between.
Some of the finest production I've ever seen
Thank you for a most enjoyably satisfying 20 mins of my day
Thanks Tommy!

New to your channel about 3 weeks ago and very slowly I'm working thru your archive, one at a time (sometimes over again before the next) like savoring the mashed potatoes and gravy part of my meal... being careful not to binge and miss out on the full flavor.
It's not the place But the journey... it's not the finished piece but the tap tap tap in between with the beauty being rooted in the process - watching how you think... so easily that comes across
Each and every piece emanates some bit of soul as well the videos do themselves.
You are leaving a fine library of work not just for your viewers but for your children and someday theirs as well.
Fortune be to those friends and loved ones with you in their life
@@tommypetraglia4688 Very kind, thank you!!
Excellent work. Your channel, your shop, your work, your family, your homestead honors our ancestors. You are an example for us all.

Waw it has 2 notes.. one quick high pitch, the other a prolonged deep hum. Never heard such a bell. Very cool!
la verdad me encantan ver esos tipos de videos muy buenos y el que lo realiza un verdadero maestro
I like the "flyover" over the flowers. It's the little things like that why I love your channel. Awesome bell
:) Thank you !!
Cool! Never seen that design before. Very interesting look.
5:55 I'm jealous. I can't do long division without a calculator. :D
New word: “hm” means the damn plug didn’t shear. Great bell... and good bow tie! Excellent Thunder Bear!
No it means you didn't align the punch. It was off by at least 1,8°... :) Perfection.... Thanks!!!
Got a nice ring to it, yea lol
Excellent work, sir
Wow what a beautiful and simple bell
Very nice Bell. You are a good gardener too!!
Such a keen eye for symmetry. Amazing!!! Ding Dong
Awesome! )
(also I amazed by an "ups!" sound on 10:00 - it is so.. natural, genuine)
:) Thanks!
I always love your work.👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely beautiful. You are a great artist.
That was lovely.....beautiful work.
"Boiled Linseed Oil: The Return"
What a beautiful piece. Congratulations my friend!
Thanks!!
Приятно посмотреть на мастера!
Еxcellent work of the master!
Pretty job. You always use boiled linseed oil, is there any reason why? When I was at school the metalwork teacher usually went for dirty engine oil to give the steel a semi weather-proof blue finish. May I suggest that when you produce these videos you them a difficulty rating. Your anvil really is a credit to you, simple measures to prevent unnecessary damage. Thanks for posting.
Thanks! Linseed oil is nice to work with, natural and smells good!
i like this person.
without talking, a lot of work.

Thank you very much!!!
@@torbjornahman keep creative and always sharing. This world needs people who inspire, like you.
Aside from your skill, your choice of interests are reasons for enjoying your posts.
I had to add two tons of compost to my garden beds to get them to look like your soil did BEFORE you amended it. Some people have all the luck!
Sounds like a tuning fork. wonderful!
would be interesting to see the difference between a hardened bell and this one. great work!
Yeahhh, always use the Legendary boiled linseed oil. 😂
