Hi can you please my message I just sent on this thread. I’m a brand new subscriber and you have the best information but my levels of B-12 are 3825 (I’m scared I’m going to die) and Ferritin is 367. Both dropped about 10% since 8/23/24 to 10/4/24. My WBC and RBC perfect. Basically my entire CBC is all normal. I’ve been researching for a week and am getting limited help other than you. I’m pounding water, stopping all alcohol 0 withdrawals but I was moderating drinking, my BMI is 22%, I weigh 130 pounds. I as of today getting results will discontinue ALL fast food and sodium. Please help me, I have 3 kids and don’t want to die of liver cancer or kidney disease. I’m so sad 😞. If you have time read my post on this thread it tells you vitamins I just started and completely STOPPED as of a few days ago.
My B12 was 1600. I have all the elevated B12 symptoms. Elevated B12 makes you feel horrible. All CBC normal. I take no supplements. I eat no poultry. I am on a strict liquid diet due to pancreatitis and chrons. I should have B12 deficiency. I am concerned. I barely eat at all. Thank you for the information.
Good day Doctor I started taking vitamin b complex injections and yesterday i took my 8th injection and now i am getting nausea and upset stomach issues and acne in my forehead , so does that mean i am overdosing , and if i stop taking it would the nausea symptoms go away, and what do you recommend thank you .
My son has MTHFR is ASD nonverbal with GDD and PICA his B12 assay and flit are both high but he also has very high ASO (219) and tested positive for ANA 1:640 titer I’ve had him on folinic acid but his levels were already high with B12 assay and folate before I started this I need to know what my next step is I feel like he may have an absorption issues since his amino acids levels are high some of them and his stools are always mushy and lighter colored sometimes with undigested food in them He also has slightly elevated liver enzymes HELP 🙏🏼
I'm 30 and have started experiencing burning and tingling of the legs my bilirubin is 1.8, cholesterol 228 and b12 1472. Do I have anything to worry about and what can I eat or avoid to lower them?
@@jessknotty Thank you for reply.I have had a burn 🔥 on my feet and hands ,after skin come out( I thought it was fungus).Doctor to exclude neuropathy send me for a blood test and B12 high.Good ,your normal now .Hope your burn will go away too 🙌
I have had B12 levels of 2,500 for over a year and my doctor has told me not to worry about it because it is a water soluble vitamin. I don’t take any supplements and I’m a vegetarian, I eat eggs, and some dairy. Should I be concerned?
Hi Lourdes, if it remains high, I would press the issues a little bit. The doctor may not be aware of all the implications. Seeing a blood specialist (hematologist) may be appropriate.
Thanks for yhis video Doc. I was just told today I have high b12. I recently stopped drinking two monsters a day but my liver levels are ok like the ALT and the other two. I don't have any signs of liver problems except pain sometimes.
I’m nervous and confused. The lab where my b12 was done had upper bound of 1245 and mine was 1265. My doctor wrote in the notes i have b12 deficiency. No real liver or kidney abnormal tests, same with CBC Concerned when I read solid cancers can cause b12 elevation. I just realized I was accidentally supplementing b vitamins because they’re in my water drink enhancer and I drink it all day…a lot of it..
Got last year b12 test and levels were 1180pg/ml Didnt realise at that time that i should be concerned as i wansrn supplementing. Retested a month ago it was 1267pg/ml and a week ago 1180pg /ml Also found out that in 2020 it was 1000. All Cbc liver tests normal. Serum electroforesis normal. Peripheral blood smear normal. No symptoms. Liver kidney splen ULTRASOUND NORMAL. BUT i am still worried although my diet is super high in greek yoghurt and high protein diet in general. Consuming liver propably around 10 times per year.
I have high B12 for a number of years and my GP wasn’t over concerned so I didn’t worry. Almost 2 years ago I was diagnosed with lung cancer and had half oh my left lung removed and saw on a video here on RUclips that high B12 can cause lung cancer. I am also suffering from crippling depression and anxiety and now think I have Mast Cell Activation syndrome. Can anyone give me any advice please.
never heard and very much doubt that that b12 causes any cancer. I do have some videos on MCAS and histamine intolerance. There is an overlap with that and high B12.
@@swintegrativeI’m 73 years old and need help to reduce my B12 levels as I’m convinced they are the cause of this MCAS I have had for almost 4 years now. I am willing to pay for a private consultation. Thank you. I truly believe it also caused the lung cancer. I am also suffering from crippling depression and anxiety.
My b12 is 1666 .i was worried i gone to doctor he done lots of blood test of my liver kidney and cancer also but everything came good. My doctor didn't know why is high because everything came good. Im comfused what to do and why is high even I didn't took any supplements or injection for this .can you help me please ?
My B 12 is very high 2000 pg, ferritin is 40 iron is low as well. I eat beef liver every day and beef as well, could it be because of diet( I am carnivore) or I have blood disorder? I developed itching in my face snd neck recently. Gosh I don't know what happened to me, never had that itching before and some days I am very fatigued. Can you direct me in the right direction of thoughts. Thanks
hey doctor so I did go get my levels checked and it has been brought up that my levels of b12 have been high, I did in the past take b12 vitamins more than too many and I have been experiencing such strong symptoms that I have never felt in my life and it does make me feel like im not myself and my body hasn't been functioning the right way as I searched up the symptoms of having a high level of b12 intake and I experience all of those brought up. It has been difficult for me and I hope I can manage through this.
Hi Doctor. I recently had a B12 test results that flagged high over 1000. But my iron count is on the low side. Usually about 11-12. In March of last year I had to have a blood transfusion, iron down to 7. I've had tests done on my stomach and a colonoscopy. All good, but sedimentation rate is high. Is there a correlation between these 3 factors? Looking for answers to why I had to have that transfusion. I'm also diabetic and have neuropathy and a lot of trouble sleeping.
thanks for this video, you're about the only youtube dr covering it. i wonder if many of the people here were symptom free then had ibs/sibo that led them to high b12 and paradoxical deficiency symptoms. my story is 2018 food poisoning, 2019 sibo onset, candida, dybiosis, and one finding of giardia, and then an onset of crepitus, then knee pain, tmj, knee atrophy, tendonitis, ankle pain, then pain and atrophy spreading to all limbs and hands. have a great deal of muscle wasting in distals, and now pins and burning sensations are setting in, after all other testing the one remainder is neuro. i'm still dealing with ch4 sibo, lipopolysacharides likely leeching into the blood for a long time, and other barcterial gases i've read can be neurotoxic. i've had serum b12 creeping up to 1500pgml last count, and bilirubin has also climbed 5 points over ref. it's hard to tell if my issue is overproduction of b12 at the illeum or mitochondrial shut down from the endotoxic stressors, the carriers inbetween or a wild mixture. other bloodwork is normal, homocystein came back within range on standard lab tests, i await mma via organic acid tests. in the meantime i battle to reverse sibo, because it all started 2 years ago.
Hi Johnline, thanks for the comment. Bacterial overgrowth or SIBO can increase serum B12 levels and yes it can be a struggle to get SIBO in check. I do have a few videos on SIBO you may find helpful. Good luck!
@johnline I’m wondering if any doctor ever resolved or explained any correlation between elevated high B-12 levels and neurological symptoms. (tingling/pins and needles sensations). I’ve ready many comments to this video, including yours detailing these symptoms. I’m struggling with something similar.
Hi, It's hard to say for sure. You should re-check the levels and make sure you are not taking any extra B12 when you do it again. If still as high, consider seeing a blood specialist, hematologist. Some people are genetically more prone to having, high B12 levels but you should rule out any other serious issues.
Hey doctor ! I have a question for you and I hope you see this… I have been having neurological symptoms since 2018 with no explanation.. I’ve seen a neurologist, hematologist, rheumatologist, etc and all of my testing is normal EXCEPT my b-12 is very elevated… and my bilirubin is elevated as well.. not all the time but sometimes it is elevated along with the b-12. I’ve had liver scans, liver functioning panels and have been told it’s Gilbert’s syndrome and nothing is wrong. Great… the only issue is that my neurological symtoms which are pins and needles in my feet, burning feet and hand, numbness and tingling in the right side of my face, oral sores, etc has not gone away. I am negative for any autoimmune disease at this time.. and my b-12 levels are usually about 1200-1500… I have a mma test done and a Homocysteine test done which was normal, but my b-22 binding capacity test was very very low, so low that it was marked as unreadable… less than the reference range. What do I do??? My family doctor said it could be Transcobalin deficiency causing a functional b-12 deficiency but I don’t know. My hematologist is stumped and said to self inject B-12 and see if my symtoms subside. With mma and homocysteine being normal I am confused why my b-12 binding would be so low. Please comment back if you can. Thank you so much.
Your symptoms are likely not from B12 deficiency with these results. There are other ting that can cause neuro sx. However , it would not hurt to try the B12. Also your might consider a urinary MMA as it is more accurate. You need MS/LC for MMA urine test.
Hi Skylar, I know someone with suspected GS ( not tested yet) and his b12 is above range. He has been advised to take molybdenum, b2, thiamine and selenium with iodine ( test those levels before you do) to bring it down. I believe it’s based on the b12 protocol as cofactors are required for b12 assimilation.
@skylarrodgers5629 Hi; I’m wondering if any doctor ever resolved or explained any correlation between elevated high B-12 levels and neurological symptoms. (tingling/pins and needles sensations). Hi! Thank you for caring enough about strangers, to post videos like this! Turns out I have elavated B12 (976) along with elavated S-CRP (11.7) and B-Leukocytes (9.0). I found out after going to the Dr, due to tingling and numbness in my legs. I feared it was MS, because my immune system is bonkers already (alopecia). Symptoms started in a right big toe and then went overnight into all right leg, then left - but lesser degree. Itching, tingling, numbness. I don't have the other typical MS symptoms. Now I'm hoping this is caused by something as silly as having overdosed on B vitamin (took supplements + was following the Keto diet with lots of beef and fish...!) I also have tendonitis in my hand, as of a few months... Trying to sort myself out and I'm in between UK and Swedish healthcare right now... Neurologists have 4-6 months queue to see them - private ones are not taking new patients. The GP said he couldn't help. I should go to the A&E or wait (6 months!) for the neurologist. I pasted the test results from the Dr I saw earlier if you have a sec (it's in Swedish but the words are very similar to English). I just hope my strange symptoms are something relatively harmless - not MS... I would be so grateful for some advice about what I should do with this!
B12 does not cause these symptoms or cause elevated CRP. Whatever is causing the elevated crp (not easy to say what that is) is the likely cause of your symptoms.
@@swintegrative Thank you! It's a bit better now, but I'll keep trying to figure out what it is, until I my appointment with a neurologist, in July (finally a private neurologist here in Sweden agreed to see me. Crazy shortage of appointments... I'll try all I can think of to lower the crp & inflammation - in terms of what I eat (anti-inflammatory diet) + I decided to take some diclofenac while I'm waiting.
@@yourneighbourhoodclownwith8490 Hi! No it's still going on... I've seen a neurologist who didn't know.. and took some more blood tests. Nothing that would be causing this was present. The one blood value that is missing, is B6. It can give neurological symptoms both if it is too low, or too high. I'm getting that tested - I just manage to organise it. The neurologist has set up for me to do a test of the nerves using electrical shocks. I'm doing that on 1 Aug. I'm beginning to realise I'm on my own here! I've done lots of research. The neurologist simply said "these things happen sometimes with no clear reason". The other doctor got hung up on me losing weight and doing Keto. I've had some terrible problems with autoimmune diseases - I just want to be sure that this condition is not progressive, or autoimmune, such as Multiple sclerosis. It flares up sometimes, and sometimes subsides to just the underside of the feet. I'm hoping it's something silly like vitamin shortage/overdose. It's very distracting and is constantly on my mind. My CRP, which SW Int. Medicine commented on, has reduced, but the SR (other inflammatory value) remains at 20 - too high. I plan to take antibiotics and maybe some cortisone for a short period - just to rule that out too.... Bought it online since the Dr won't approve of taking it just as an experiment.. It's a mystery and it just came on overnight - for no reason I can understand. Other than this problem, I'm feeling better than ever! I'm clearly not sick. Let me know how it goes for you! Good luck and God bless!
hi doctor! i am 28 yrs old, and have slightly elevated vitamin b12 at 1177..also a small stone in left kidney(4mm) that is being treated with Vit B6 supplement..However,last month, I had an USG that showed mildly enlarged liver with normal ecotexture..my liver function tests(includes albumin, globulin) are normal..urea,creatinine,cbc,hemoglobin normal...total wbc normal..only mildly raised eosinophils (6.20%)..and i am allergic for past 1 year..also i developed a long viral infection 5 months ago, that affected my lungs and also caused fever for 1 month. That is gone now, but even at night I often feel feverish with temp ranging between 98 F and 98.6 F. I feel very tired and no vit B12 supplements have been taken. But,I am beta thalassemia trait. My ESR is also normal. Can my high vit B12, kidney stone and slightly large liver be indications of chronic leukemia or MGUS (a condition before myeloma)?? i have afraid, because when i was diagnosed with high vit b12 last month,i was having symptoms of allergies, body itching, and dizziness. Can you please advice as to what I should do now?
another great video! if i have high b12 and folate, but normal iron / ferritin and normal RBC (maybe even slightly high) - would you think this is more of an issue of b12 getting inside the cells? i have a slow metabolism so i suspect my body cant process it quick enough, therefore building up in the blood but why is the metabolic function slow, cell membranes?
It is hard to say from the limited info I have about you. Supporting cell membranes with fatty acids and phospholipids and the latter being more important. Something like this could help geni.us/RhaqAz (affiliate link)

since there are a lot of important details here you might consider joining the membership ruclips.net/channel/UCyYt8bEdpNzXK8LyCNh6rugjoin It sounds like you have a high ferritin (you are spelling it different but I think it is the same) and you are taking iron. this is very inflammatory vitamin. Sometimes people need to take this and hard to know all the missing piece to your case but with extremely high ferritin it is certainly effecting your immune cells. Hope that helps. you might check out my other videos on high b12 and ferritin for more context.
My b12 is high my prolactin levels are high my cholesterol is high .. I just lost 70 pounds had Vsg 1-15-21 .. I have been taking 2 centrum multivitamins a day so my doctor said high b12 could come from that.. I have been extremely tired lately no energy at all no desire to do anything. I took too much B-12 a week ago.. like.. 5000mcg one day.. then i stopped.. left it alone.. had to stop B1 as well.. didn't realize i was gonna damage anything.. i just need to get it out of me before it does and permanent damage.

Hello, I am currently undergoing chemotherapy (breast cancer) and my blood values (leukos currently 2.6) are not that good. But Liver and kidney, vit d etc. values are normal. But I'm particularly worried about the vit b12 value. This is increasing more and more (>2000)-without supplements. The holo-tc test showed 26 - an absolute deficiency in the cells. The cause with cancer and chemo lit is also clear. However, I urgently need vitamin b12 for the next treatments (blood formation) and the chemo also affects my nerves. But how do I get vit b12 into the cells? What can I do to mitigate the impact? And do you know if it goes back to normal afterwards? none of the doctors noticed or knew about it. I'm really worried about the consequences. Thank you once again for your answer
There are a lot of contextual things that I do not know about you. So we his is not advice to you specifically. However a low holo-tc would mean you are lacking or low on the transporter. This could happen for genetic reasons or simple low wbc’s. Either case not sure there is a known solution. A high dose of b12 may diffuse into the cell.
@@swintegrative thank you so much. That helps me and i will discuss it with my dr. And Yes the wbcs are really low..also the chemotherapy is toxic for the liver and kidney…I wasn’t sure if the high dosage could be more toxic for that.
Hello! I’ve recently been tested for B12 and it came back pretty high :1700 ( max Lab level is 900). I’ve been suplimenting it with oral 500 mcg for three months before test and also tooked it the day before test. Can This cause high levels on the test! How long should i wait before repeating the test ?
Thank you for your replay and for all your content . I’ ve retestare after 3 weeks and it went down from 1700 to 1100. So, it’s probably the suplimentation effect

Many thanks again for your videos, very informative and nice follow up, i did really benefit from it as many doctors here never heard of the case high b12, it is for them always low b12. mine dropped on its own from 1470 to 1140 in a month so i think ill recheck after another month or so. thanks again.

Does he say somewhere in this video how to lower your b12 numbers? I don't have time or the desire to watch a 15 minute video with a lot of needless talk.
Dear doctor, How is it possible that an oral multivitamin can affect the levels of b12 ? I understand that the injections may have an impact however I don’t understand how the oral way can affect it since the body should excrete any excess. My result came back at 1490 and I have been taking 600 mcg of b12 since the last 5 months. Really appreciate your feedback.
It doesn’t excrete all of the excess some is stored. Also it takes time to excrete it. So if u take it at 6 am and you have your blood drawn at 8 or 9 am there is not enough time to excrete it.
@@swintegrative So just to update and help anybody facing the same situation. My level after stopping oral supplementation went from 1490 to 1024 in 3 weeks. I have retested now after 2 months of my 1490 mark and I am at 825. Best Regards
Oh hi Dr. I would love some feedback from a trusted source like yourself I recently got my blood work back and I tested high B 12 sitting around 798 and my red blood cell count was low sitting at 3.90. Is this normal? What steps would you take to fix this? My thyroid is also sitting at hypothyroid levels 2.12
Hi I would ask I did blood test back in March it was 1400 b12 I retested few months with Genova organic acid test and it was low and retested Again via blood it was 1200 what is the most accurate way to test test b12
Sounds interesting. The organic acid test typically looks at methylmalonic acid which is more sensitive way to check for B12. A high MMA indicated a deficiency. It is possible to have high serum b12 and low intracellular B12. You can get more details about this in my book amzn.to/3jVGvZf
I have problems with low ferritin and b12 high ...my last blood work results are ferritin 24 and B12 1580 ..my b12 has been up and down it can lower to 1200 then go up to 1500 again ..plus i have low vitamin d also ..i'm not taking no b12 supplements just iron everyday and vitamin d once a week

@@kathyrollings2474 You may want to consider having a blood donation or two to bring down your iron levels if they are high. You want to pay attention to the ferritin value. North of 150 ug/L is of concern.

hi! thank you for these videos. i’ve been watching them.. back in august they found that i had slightly low b12 (around 300) and slightly anemic. i never took any supplements for either issue. yesterday they did another blood test to see how everything was ( i did not eat or take anything 10+ hours before my draw) a doctor has not gotten back to me yet but my b12 has increased to 1,200. and also my lymphocytes have increased above “normal” ( i am not sick, and have no infections). when comparing my results from august to now i noticed that my RBC’s have all SLIGHTLY increased. WBC’s have all slightly decreased ( besides lymphocytes which are above average) and my platelets have increased a little. i haven’t had any symptoms that i’ve noticed besides been napping a little more often, some night sweats & the pst 2 weeks felt very full after a small amount of food.. but i figured this was nothing related. i have no pain or anything though. i’m only 21. so i feel like i’m fine. but my doctor has not gotten back to me and it’s causing me now to stress out.. what do you think about this?
Hi Keana, there are a lot of variables so it is hard to say from just this information what is going on with you. The main thing is I would not be too concerned about these results but I would not ignore them either. As a start, you should re-check your b12 level and wbc's. WBC's can fluctuate a lot from one test to the next.
Southwest Integrative Medicine okay thank you. my doctor has been out on materinity leave till january. the doctor filling in said it’s from “eating foods with b12” and that nothing else further needs to happen. i’m not comfortable with that since i don’t even eat foods with a lot of b12 hence why i’ve always been low. i requested he refer me to a hematologist just to be safe instead of brushing me to the side saying there’s nothing further to do.
I recent had gotten blood work & it’s damn near at 2000 from taking high dose supplements (about a month). I was told that I might have b12 deficiency by a pharmacist. How can I naturally reduce my b12 levels & how long will it take?
It's not that simple. Anything that is above your lab reference range should cause you to be suspicious (if you are not taking b12). I have a step by step process to follow in my book amzn.to/3upWGnd. The simplest thing is just re-check it. If stays high, see hematologist.
Hi there, my vitamin B12(active) is 172pmol/L should I worry? Because in the laboratory which I have done the test the normal range is 25-165 pmol/L. I have read many bad things, and worry. Should I retake next month to see is it decrease?
My b12 is 400. I never had a follow up . I’m located on United States. I do have fatty liver disease should I ask for another test to find out about any other test
Thx. I have been taking supplements of b12 1400mg per day since 1 year, today I tested b12 was 850 (around 250 elevated). Have done full regular blood work though was normal but b12 was 850 . Any suggestion to reduce it ? Can 1400 mg per day cause that ? Using it for nerve pain
No I don't see how high B12 will cause ongoing sleep disturbance. Sometimes when people take b vitamins it can interfere with sleep. This is temporary and not too common with B12.
My active b12 seems ok but I’ve had consistently high serum cobalamin for 4 years now at 1200-1500 ng/l. I have M.E/CFS and wonder if any tests should be done to explore my high serum cobalamin. Any ideas please?
First I assume you don't take extra B12? If the answer is no then yes it is a good idea to do some tests. Some of the same reasons people have a diagnosis of M.E. and CFS can cause high TCN -1 and TCN-3 (B12 carrying proteins). In coordiation with your health care provider you should do a MMA and homocysteine to see if intracellular b12 if low (along with liver, kidney and white blood cell tests).
Thank you very much for your informative videos on high B12. I have high B12 for over 2 years now. roughly about 2000. Got all liver tests done and seem ok. however, no other doctors would look into it why it's high. I also have several autoimmune illnesses and heart valve regurgitation. I continue to pursue researching and saw your video. It's surprising to find that it's an underestimated anomaly viewed by doctors. My doctors all said 'don't worry about it'. Based on my research, I initiated going to see a hematologist next. Through several blood tests, found out that I have MGUS: IgA kappa monoclonal protein. Since it's not high, i'm being monitored every six months. I'm still in search of the cause. I'm in the NY area. Would you be able to recommend someone I can see? or should I contact your office? Appreciate your help!
Hi there! Generally have ok blood tests excluding iron which is sometimes low. However My B12 came back as high in 2018 at 965ng/l and was told to stop taking supliments (they didn’t beleive me when I said I take no supliments and never have taken anything for b12 and usually don’t take any pills) . Just did a blood test recently (2022) and b12 is still high at 960ng/l - what do you advise as I don’t take any pills and my diet is moderate and don’t over eat certain foods
My B12 is 4750. I previously had high liver enzymes, high iron and pre diabetes. With a keto diet that is all better now. But B12 went up to 4750 from 1200 when liver enzymes and iron were high. I have numb feet Dr says its the B12, Naturopath says it was blood sugar of 113 but now that my blood sugar is 93 I still have numb feet. Naturopath wants me to take injections of B vitamin and I do on and off. I'm 70.
😂 I get a good laugh when I see someone make a statement like "my blood sugar was 113"... Normal is 80 to 120. I'm a type 1. My endocrinologist is quite happy if mine averages 150. If I could run a 150 without insulin I would never take another injection. I would be very happy with a 150. Whoever told you that 113 is high should lose their license if they have one. 113 is a great number.
My b12 level is 1590 I have been taking daily supplement of 2500 mcg for one month. Is it normal to be high since I took it the day before the blood work.
regarding the methylmalonic acid and homocysteine. do both need to be high in order to treat for B12 deficiency? what if one was high and one was normal? does it still mean B12 deficiency?
Hi Sorsara78, This is a good question. Either being high suggests B12 deficiency. Methylmalonic acid is more specific to B12 though. Nothing is absolute but a high MMA is almost always B12 deficiency. High homocysteine can be other things. Normal or low MMA does not mean normal B12 but means there is not severe longstanding deficiency. Hope that helps.
Sir I have interjected 500mcg b12 and now I'm facing stinging sensation all over my body and it has damaged my liver . Kindly help me how I cleanse my liver from b12
Thanks so much for this information. I just being diagnosed to have fatty liver after a blood test. Although, the iron levels in my bloodstream is said to be normal but my ferritin is high (452ug/L) and my B12 is also high (216pmol/L). Could my fatty liver be responsible for these?. Because I have never at any point taken vitamin B12 supplements. Thank you
Yes it can be. Although the B12 level you listed does not look high according to references ranges here in US. Maybe you made mistake on unit or something? Your liver may also be damaged from the high iron. Ask your doctor about this. You may also want to check out this video. ruclips.net/video/MKmq2wS7z5w/видео.html

My sister can't hardly walk to climb stairs he daughter picks up her legs. No one knows what she has on one test it says her b12 level is very low in another test it says her cpk is very high. But no Dr can tell her what she has.
Hi Elevated CPK may be unrelated to B12 deficiency. The issue with moving here legs is likely due to the elevated CPK. CPK is a muscle enzyme that spills into the blood when muscles are damaged creating weakness and pain in the muscles. The most common cause for this is statin medication, long distance training and hypothyroid. There are many other causes and specialist in rheumatology or neurology may be needed to identify the cause. While B12 deficiency is not typically associated with this it will not hurt either.
@@swintegrative can she take anything to lower her cpk and gain strength on her legs but she has never taking statin medication. She went to a neurologist he did not see anything. The did ct scan MRI and blood work.
What do you of different form of b12. I heard that our genes determine which form is mpre appropriate. My health store has hydroxycobalamin so I wonder if I should take it. My test was high a year ago and I dropped b12 but get about 333 mcg from my b complex.
Hi Rachidasister, this is a good question and I may do a separate video on this. From clinical experience most people do well methylcobalmin. If you are deficient in B12 any kind will work. There are a few genetic things that can make adenosyl and methylcobalamin more appropriate.
I took a multivitamin with a lot of b12, the next day I had a protein shake with a lot of b12. The next day I was tested and b12 as 1600. I wonder if the 1 vitamin pill and the 1 protein shake could have had any effect on the b12 test results. Thanks.

Hi There, thank you for this video, which I found very helpful. I am 55 year old male, living in London, UK. ı consistency have slightly elevated B12 (around 850s) and my GP both in UK and in Turkey (home country) are not much concerned about it. I am however a bit concerned and that is why I watched your video. My question is that I have also slightly high iron level around 250 and my white blood cells are also slightly high. Do I need to concern about these markers? What advice would you give me please?
I wold be a bit concerned but context is king. Check out my videos on high iron. If WBC are consistently high (more than 2 tests and depending on how high) you might see hematologist. There are just too many scenarios to go into what to do. All these things may be related too which is why a hematologist may be helpful.
@@swintegrative Thank you very much indeed. According to most recent blood test I had only two weeks ago, the iron come slightly normal level, but B12 is even higher. My GP thinks it is to do with my diet and supplements - apparently a supplement I tak has some B12 in it. I will double check this again soon. Thank you again.
Mine is 1489 pg/ml , i have been taking 500mcg supplements for 6 months ( i was anaemic before , the b12 level then was 62 ) Now , i have tingling in my legs and hands , i am not able to connect the dots and freaking out from when i have seen my results , has anybody else gone through something similar , or any advices doctor?

Hi. My levels are 1933. I was supplementing maybe for about a month between liquid b12 and b12 complex but at the time my labs were drawn I had stopped taking it at least I would say for two months. How long do supplements cause high b12. Should it still be high even though I stopped taking supplements a couple months ago.
Hello, Please can you help. I have raised b12 levels. I have been a vegetarian for years and I do not supplement or have injections. I have all of the symptoms of B12 levels and have felt very unwell for over 2 years. I am in the UK and doctors won't listen to me and blame the way I feel on being depressed but I know my body better than anyone. Is there anything I can do to make them listen or do you have any info I can send them? Thanks so much.
Hi Laura O'Reilly, I recommend following up with the doctors and doing repeat testing of the B12 levels to show it is high multiple times. You can also ask for urinary methylmalonic acid test and homocysteine tests. The B12 being high does not cause symptoms and there is not definitive treatment for it. The reason B12 levels are high (whatever it is in your case), does cause symptoms. To find this reason, you have to be persistent and patient and find a doctor that is as well. In other words its a clue not a diagnosis.
Good question, unfortunately the answer is not always simple. It could be folate deficiency. Check out my book Don't B12 Deficient for more nuanced answer.
Good morning doctor, so Ive been sick with weird symptoms that come and go like muscle weakness on arms and legs , tremors headaches and fatigue , for 10 years now and every time i get checked by doctors they do all this extensive lab work and my vitamin b12 always comes out high , sometimes it goes down a little and sometimes stays high but they tell Me is nothing to to be concerned about because all other lab work is good. It worries me because all the hidden issues like cancer or liver issues , i have taken in the past complex B injections but not regularly , just recently I got a lab work done and they said everything is great and my vitamin b12 was above 2000. Please advice what I can do .
Hi Fernando, I can't give you specific advice bc I don't know your whole story. I can say that if you are 2-3 months since the b complex injection then that should not be contributing much. You can ask to see a hematologist to rule out these other problems. If they can't find a problem this is good. You can also see a functional medicine doctor that has knowledge in this space.

What symptoms do you have?
Thank you. Greatly appreciate this very helpful and well-done presentation.

I ask my doctor and said not to concern about it
My son has MTHFR is ASD nonverbal with GDD and PICA his B12 assay and flit are both high but he also has very high ASO (219) and tested positive for ANA 1:640 titer
I’ve had him on folinic acid but his levels were already high with B12 assay and folate before I started this I need to know what my next step is I feel like he may have an absorption issues since his amino acids levels are high some of them and his stools are always mushy and lighter colored sometimes with undigested food in them

@@louphoenix9477 Hi did you find out what caused high b12?
Got last year b12 test and levels were 1180pg/ml
Didnt realise at that time that i should be concerned as i wansrn supplementing. Retested a month ago it was 1267pg/ml and a week ago 1180pg /ml
Also found out that in 2020 it was 1000.
Liver is very high in B12

I am also suffering from crippling depression and anxiety and now think I have Mast Cell Activation syndrome. Can anyone give me any advice please.

I'm also diabetic and have neuropathy and a lot of trouble sleeping.
yes there is. see videos on ferritin and other videos on high b12
thanks for this video, you're about the only youtube dr covering it.
i wonder if many of the people here were symptom free then had ibs/sibo that led them to high b12 and paradoxical deficiency symptoms.
my story is 2018 food poisoning, 2019 sibo onset, candida, dybiosis, and one finding of giardia, and then an onset of crepitus, then knee pain, tmj, knee atrophy, tendonitis, ankle pain, then pain and atrophy spreading to all limbs and hands. have a great deal of muscle wasting in distals, and now pins and burning sensations are setting in, after all other testing the one remainder is neuro. i'm still dealing with ch4 sibo, lipopolysacharides likely leeching into the blood for a long time, and other barcterial gases i've read can be neurotoxic. i've had serum b12 creeping up to 1500pgml last count, and bilirubin has also climbed 5 points over ref. it's hard to tell if my issue is overproduction of b12 at the illeum or mitochondrial shut down from the endotoxic stressors, the carriers inbetween or a wild mixture. other bloodwork is normal, homocystein came back within range on standard lab tests, i await mma via organic acid tests. in the meantime i battle to reverse sibo, because it all started 2 years ago.
Hi Johnline, thanks for the comment. Bacterial overgrowth or SIBO can increase serum B12 levels and yes it can be a struggle to get SIBO in check. I do have a few videos on SIBO you may find helpful. Good luck!

Hi, can low folate acid and high vitamin b12 related doctors say I have high vitamin b12 I don't eat dairy but have meat and fish
@@Hanna-yn5ou hey did you figure out what was wrong , i too have an elevated b12 level (1498) and the numbness and tingling in the legs
Good luck and God bless!

since there are a lot of important details here you might consider joining the membership ruclips.net/channel/UCyYt8bEdpNzXK8LyCNh6rugjoin It sounds like you have a high ferritin (you are spelling it different but I think it is the same) and you are taking iron. this is very inflammatory vitamin. Sometimes people need to take this and hard to know all the missing piece to your case but with extremely high ferritin it is certainly effecting your immune cells. Hope that helps. you might check out my other videos on high b12 and ferritin for more context.

As soon as I get out of bed I want to get back in it. I don’t like this at all and my hair has thinned out a lot. I don’t know what to do to help myself.
I took too much B-12 a week ago.. like.. 5000mcg one day.. then i stopped.. left it alone.. had to stop B1 as well.. didn't realize i was gonna damage anything.. i just need to get it out of me before it does and permanent damage.

Hi Stella, Yes it probably is related to mgus.

Hi Karen, Did you check out the suggestions in the video?
Does he say somewhere in this video how to lower your b12 numbers? I don't have time or the desire to watch a 15 minute video with a lot of needless talk.
Dear doctor,
How is it possible that an oral multivitamin can affect the levels of b12 ?

You can get more details about this in my book amzn.to/3jVGvZf

hi! thank you for these videos. i’ve been watching them.. back in august they found that i had slightly low b12 (around 300) and slightly anemic. i never took any supplements for either issue. yesterday they did another blood test to see how everything was ( i did not eat or take anything 10+ hours before my draw) a doctor has not gotten back to me yet but my b12 has increased to 1,200. and also my lymphocytes have increased above “normal” ( i am not sick, and have no infections). when comparing my results from august to now i noticed that my RBC’s have all SLIGHTLY increased.
They will probably be more likely to re-do the test then if still off send to hematologist. Either way though you should re-check.

Yep
regarding the methylmalonic acid and homocysteine. do both need to be high in order to treat for B12 deficiency? what if one was high and one was normal? does it still mean B12 deficiency?
Hi Sorsara78, This is a good question. Either being high suggests B12 deficiency. Methylmalonic acid is more specific to B12 though. Nothing is absolute but a high MMA is almost always B12 deficiency. High homocysteine can be other things. Normal or low MMA does not mean normal B12 but means there is not severe longstanding deficiency. Hope that helps.

So having high b12 really means nothing to worry about?
Well if it is high and stays high and you are taking B12 then it is something to be concerned over. One test being high is not worrisome.
If my B12 level in blood test is high and the homocysteine level is also high, what do I do to bring down the homocysteine levels? Doctor please help.
