Welcome to the Life of Nene Leakes! I will Never shy away from telling you how it is. I am the "Original Housewife" of Atlanta, author, actor, and entrepreneur but I'm also a mom, friend and human being.
My life was turned upside down after losing my husband Gregg, now I'm forced to navigate life alone after sharing it with my partner of 27 years. I have taken time to reflect and now look forward to new beginnings. I'm hopeful for what life will bring and welcome you to witness my journey.

Love you Nene! Bethany had her Skinnygirl product and sold it for $120million. Then invested and started her podcast.
Nene stop giving power to stating that they are holding you back from work. When you stop giving them power and stop moving it into the atmosphere then your riches will come!
But housewives helped her product thrive cos she was allowed to use that platform to introduce it and plug it. Nene said she wasn't allowed to do the same!
We can see that from Kenyas interview. Khandi gets shown but hers get removed.
Nene, it has nothing to do with you being “allowed”. Betheny was building her product and brand with or without the show. She’s a business person and chef. She spent her time working on her passion. And the show captured it. That’s how she got to promote it. You said you’re an actress. That’s your passion. You used your time on the show to promote your skills. And that got you other acting roles. Many of you ladies wanted to use the show to diversify. And I believe that they didn’t let you do that (without taking a cut of the profits)
Being blackballed and having contracts that control someone's ability to grow professionally and financially are real things and need to be exposed like every other injustice. It was Bethany's business success that made Bravo put a clause in their contracts that controlled the housewives' business ventures. People who don't believe that these corporations have a lot of power are delusional and ignorant.

I remember when Bethenny was in an apartment w her little dog and rollerskates. Bethenny really has made phenominal business moves. I liked the interview with you two.

Why Bethenny is ahead of Nene and probably ahead of most housewives is because Bethenny would not allow Bravo to take a percentage (which is in the housewives contracts) of any future business deals which is now known as the "The Bethenny Clause". She then created "Skinnygirl" and eventually sold the cocktail portion of it for $100 MILLION DOLLARS! ow yes. Bravo got NONE of it. The fact that Bethenny knew in her gut to take that out of her contract says a lot about her business sense. She's one amazing lady. ❤

She only did Manhattan Moms to help launch her "foods brand." Unbeknownst to her, it was those low calorie alcohol recipes that allowed her to break into the foods industry & generate wealth. There's an old adage: "it's not fair to compare" and in this case I agree.
Bethenny came on the RHONY or "Manhattan Moms" in a VERY different season of life than Nene. Bethenny literally could not pay her rent! She had her heart set on launching her culinary business. It's wrong to compare her success w/nene's success. Both women are successful but both came to their shows with VERY different goals & during VERY different seasons of life.
I think it's a mistake for Nene not to educate herself by watching the first 4-5 seasons of RHONY. I only purchased seasons 1-3 bc bc they literally document how the "Skinny Girl" brand was launched:

Despite being a dog mom, Bethenny was the perfect fit for the pilot NYC Manhattan Moms (trying to get their kids into private schools) reality TV show which became RHONY.
Americans related to this unmarried female entrepreneur who was grinding 24 hours/day to launch her brand.
Many people aspire to be on reality TV because of the skinnygirl brand but are they actually willing to walk in Bethenny's shoes? A woman who didn't own a car or a home? No husband or kids and constant on cameras REJECTION.
What do they say? Be careful what you wish for...

Bethany is not just a reality Star , she’s a world renowned entrepreneur! Almost every single one of my family members has a bag of skinny pop in their home . She also seems to be very frugal and leverages the hand and connections that are dealt to her. You can do it too Nene think smarter not harder and let go of the past love you don’t live there anymore .

Yes , @@nkeiru26 my thing was that Nene kept referring back to the narrative that they both started out the same on Bravo , like OKAY Monique we get it Netflix ( bravo ) didn’t want pay you what you were owed and didn’t respect you as the hbic of the franchise but l ma’am the value had depreciated . Instead of trying to keep up with all the trips and the fashions , you should have too a business trip over to Bangladesh to get you some fashions to sell and write off at the same time , if anything you should have teamed up with Bethany back then or told her how much you admired how she operated and asked her to be a mentor or just a sounding board of how to handle the bravo bag . Moral of the story her reads are iconic, but if she can learn to listen more than she speaks she’ll be in good position .
It’s time for you to write a book Nene. About your life, upbringing, becoming a single mom, meeting Greg, your friendship with Andy and the ladies from RHOP, etc. You have a story to tell and fans who would love to support you.
She wrote a book 10 years ago.
I like the idea but I would want her to stop at the RHOA story since it's still being written. That can be a follow-up book. I feel like WE REALLY don’t know HER story so it would be great to hear how she was raised to how she got started in the business. Love the idea!
This would be a short & boring book if the only thing she can talk about is a job she was fired from, Andy & the ladies from RHOP are all part of the same package, as a viewer I'd love to hear something new from Nene, something unrelated to ANYTHING associated to the franchise cuz she's stuck on it like a leech, she can't ever do an interview and not discuss RHOA, Andy or Bravo. Of u strip away the Real Housewives franchise, everyone & everything associated from Nene's life story to date what would she have to write about?

But I agree, Bethany was busy building a brand and expanding towards bigger things, Nene had businesses when she was on the show, she didn't promote it, Bethany did, look at Kandi, she came on the show and she was promoting her TAGS boutiques since day 1, she started her RUclips channel, her Online Store and everything grew into successes within their own right.
Porsha started after Nene & Go Naked Hair is a viable business, Kenya started after Nene and Kenya More Hair Care products are in over 5000 CVS locations and Sally Beauty locations in the USA, Nene talks about what others have but does she put in the work to accumulate the same level of success, NOPE

Bethenny was very lucky with her Skinny Girl brand. You are talented in different was. I think you would be an amazing talk show it radio personality. Keep using this platform. Bring in guests. I will support and I know others will too. Review the shows on a lot of networks not just Bravo
I don't think Bethany was lucky, I think she was smart and focused on building a brand/product. Nene and Bethany may have started on the same platform but not the same place. Bethany is a privileged woman whose parents paid for her schooling and had access to very smart and wealthy business people to learn from. I would reccomend Nene read Outliers. But I do agree Nene is talented, she just needs the right team and people tp tell her the truth and the sky is the limit.

@Beea Bingo! People bash Yvette Carnell (and I feel she has her ways) but she has always talked about the significance of REAL wealth and social capital none of which black folks as a group have. I just Wikipedia Bethenny and she went to a boarding school. If her parents paid cash for college she went to NYU which ain't cheap. The boarding school costs $33k (kindergarten) to $44k. Wealth + social capital.
Bethany was a strict business woman and never stopped her hustle. She tried "NOT TO" burn bridges. She took every opportunity given and gave back to the less fortunate such as Hurricane victims. You can do it as well BUT, PRIDE can deter your outcome. KEEP GRINDING NeNe.
She did not donate her own money. Bethany started a charity. The money that the charity receives is used to help pay for her big big house and travels. People start charities as partial piggybanks. Plus it is very god public relations.

Bethany didn’t have wealth. She had an education, but was abandoned by her father as a toddler & her mother was a heavy drinker etc.. she had to hustle for money to survive.. She simply had the fire 🔥 to fight & believed in herself that she could be success.. That’s why she is where she is today. That’s why Nene is reflecting. It comes down to the choices u make & the paths u choose.

I'm glad NeNe spoke about her perception of where Bethenny is and where she is seeing as they started at the same place. Bethenny has always been about her business. Though there have been far more popular housewives than Bethenny, success is so much more than popularity. NeNe has been so popular for so long but I've noticed how few platforms she built for herself outside of housewives. Even when she would be fighting with Bravo, I just felt like with NeNe's kind of star power, she should have built her own platform a long time ago. Hopefully, she's moving in that direction now that the lightbulb seems to have gone off in her mind.

If you think about it non of the black women ok housewives have made it huge like that. I think NeNe's issue is she thinks other people are being handed things they are working for. Most of the housewives, black or white, are not on the level of Bethenny, Kandi and Vanderpump. These women have spent years, like a decade plus building these brands and businesses. NeNe could be there too if she would leave the illusion that other people are keeping her from having things and just build her own.

Bethenny used her reality platform to build something bigger. She's a savvy business woman that took it to the next level. Amazing and relentless hustler with a fierce attitude is what helped propel Bethenny to the next level. She is self built and definitely inspirational. You can do it too Nene!! Just want to add, that you were my fave housewife on ATL...the show is def not the same with you.

I do think is time for Nene take front and be a show runner, start making her own content or even her own talk show where she is conecting with regular people doing great things not relying in famous people just like everyone else. I think it would be a great spin on a talk show idea. KEEPING IT REAL With Nene, bringing real people for us to get to know, day to day people doing great things, maybe interviewing other regular people that also became memes, or people that have been cancelled reopening doors and healing.

As far as Bethany, she acquired tons of success with ‘Skinny Girl’ and even more success when she sold the brand of Skinny Girl! Bethany was the struggling ‘single’ housewife when she began. The other housewives looked down on her and she worked her way up. We all have our own paths to follow. Super proud of you NeNe…I’ve just subscribed. Excited to see future videos… ❤❤❤❤

Yes. She was catering in the Hamptons. I think it's a mistake for Nene not to watch Bethenny's origin story from "Manhattan Moms" which became RHNOY. Bethenny was an Apprentice contestant for Martha Stewart. Her life goal was always create a multi-million dollar natural foods brand. She only did Manhattan Moms to help launch her "foods brand." Unbeknownst to her, it was those low calorie alcohol recipes that allowed her to break into the foods industry & generate wealth. There's an old adage: "it's not fair to compare" and in this case I agree.
Bethenny came on the RHONY or "Manhattan Moms" in a VERY different season of life than Nene. Bethenny literally could not pay her rent! She had her heart set on launching her culinary business. It's wrong to compare her success w/nene's success. Both women are successful but both came to their shows with VERY different goals & during VERY different seasons of life.
I think it's a mistake for Nene not to educate herself by watching the first 4-5 seasons of RHONY. I only purchased seasons 1-3 bc bc they literally document how the "Skinny Girl" brand was launched:
We see Bethenny:
>working on the graphic design w/Alex
>B explain the margarita recipe over & over again when she's out w/the girls, 1 time w/LuAnn that is quite memorable
>borrowing dresses from Hilfiger's sister
>pitching her brand to beverage companies.
>Dumped by another boyfriend who didn't want to marry and
all in that little apartment with 1 assistant and sleepless determination.
Although Bethenny was disappointed at being rejected as Martha's Apprentice, it's obvious she wasn't the right fit for that brand.
Despite being a dog mom, Bethenny was the perfect fit for the pilot NYC Manhattan Moms (trying to get their kids into private schools) reality TV show which became RHONY.
Americans related to this unmarried female entrepreneur who was grinding 24 hours/day to launch her brand.
Many people aspire to be on reality TV because of the skinnygirl brand but are they actually willing to walk in Bethenny's shoes? A woman who didn't own a car or a home? No husband or kids and constant on cameras REJECTION.
What do they say? Be careful what you wish for...
