This is excellent. I live in the tropics and I am chasing fungus all the time. Previously I have been taking all the lenses for cleaning to a technician in the city 4 hours away. Now I feel confident about handling the less complex lenses myself. Thanks to You.
Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful! I had lubricated my Helios 44 last year following your other video and this week i wanted to clean the internal lenses, cause there was some extra dust. I got stuck at the fist back element and i could not unscrew it, no matter how hard i tried! I heard that you say in the video that some lenses are more difficult to unscrew than others,so i took the flash light of the phone and checked better. I saw there was a very tiny screw on the barel, that stops the last element unscrew... it's very small, like the screws of the black ring on the helicoid barer. Once i unscrewed it, i managed to open it. So, i hope this information is useful for other owners! 👍
Your videos are very informative; I especially appreciate that you do them in English (which is quite good). I would really like to see one on the Meteor 5-1. I need to reattach the zoom gear to the optical block; the screws seem to have loosened in transit from Russia so I lost the zoom control after a couple of days use.
johnschaaf Hello! Thank you very much for your feedback. If meteor will come in my hands one day i will record tutorial with it! But actually i do not have it....
I would like to see completely remove the glass from the black rings or its not possible ?That way you would put in in alcohol to the next day,The glass its not glued to the rings are they?
Great Job Roman, I have this lens, but the M39 version and the Iris blades are very greasy. Is the service for the iris the same as the Jupiter 9 f2-85. Many Thanks.
Excellant video. I have an older Zenith M39 version of this lens & can not get it to focus to infinity on my Nikon DSLR even with using the M39-M43/M42-Nkon adaptors. Is it possible to modify this lens?
+Virginia Hoffman Yes, but it requires turning lathe work. There are people who modify inter-optical element distance to achieve infinity, but in this case image quality drops down i would say considerably.
Just bought one of these and focus ring is extremely hard to turn and the middle clickless aperture lens is really loose where if you move the camera from side to side, you can here metal to metal clanging.. Doesnt seem right to me but the person i bought it from said this is normal.. What are your thoughts on this sir?? Thank You!!
Hi folks, I need help, I have a beautiful Heliso44 from 1965. When it was delivered a few days ago, it was of course very stiff and also a bit rickety. Thanks to the ingenious RUclips videos Retro Foto House, it was no problem to restore it. Now the problem, when assembling, I probably put too much strain on the aperture setting ring, it can no longer be stretched and the grid is stuck on aperture 1.5. the panels themselves are movable, nothing has jammed, it must be the click function on the ring that has jammed. I have now loosened the screws on the quick-release ring to remove it, but nothing happens, I can't get to the locking mechanism. Has anyone of you ever disassembled this part and can help me further. Thank you very much. Greetings Peter

the iris control is not working well on my lens i think it just needs to be taken apart and put back together any videos on this subject?
Thank you for this! 😀

good work man
Thank you!
I wonder...can you strip costings by cleaning the elements with alcohol (or some other substance normally used for lens cleaning)?
Excellent video. How does the MC version of the lens compare in terms of repair? Is the disassembly/reassembly different in any way?
It does not exist MC version of this lens. If somebody tells you a contrary, it is just not really honest marketing move

No, it is not the same
Is the 40.2 the same. Looks like a lock screw in side. Under aperture ring.
I still have to bend the filter thread back into a round shape.
Yes, it is. Thank you for your input :)

Hi! Bra
I bought the same lens, but sharpness is not there? Why? Infinity problem or do I need to clean or refix it? Pls?

Hi! It is not normal, there is an old 60 years grease inside and that's why focus is stiff. Lens needs to be re-lubricated

Hi Peter! if you could record a little video showing a problem, it would help me a lot to understand wha't going on
Sadly my helios had fungus on the front element which has etched itself into the coating or glass. Shame really.
yes, it happens, unfortunately....
Also you are doing a little of camera we can not see.T Y
