I thought the guy didn't actually lose that money. It was a mistake because the system was not configured to display negative numbers.
He did lose the money but due to the system error I believe they zeroed out his losses
What would happen if you were short of a futures oil contract, at say $20 (positive territory) and it went negative as we have recently seen. Would the short still be a profitable trade in negative territory?
I ask because in negative territory many sellers are having to pay buyers to take oil off their hands. Does this also apply to the futures' short; would we have to pay a buyer to take the contract off our hands?
The issue you're referring to was for people holding buy contracts in futures that settle with physical delivery of the oil. Usually they can get rid of the contract before expiry and not have to take delivery of the oil, but due to the current situation there was limited storage space and no one was wanting to take delivery of the oil. That meant it was difficult to find anyone to buy the futures contract and traders holding these contracts had to pay to have them taken off them instead - hence the price going negative. That's not something that's likely to happen again and would be for buyers rather than sellers.
You guys stopped answering me immediately after my first installment got expired. You kicked me out of the course, and completely stopped answering my mails. I don’t have enough money yet to complete the remaining installments, It's very expensive though. Kicking me out of the course, I understand, but stop answering my mail is bad. Feels so bad. I was asking about how to change payment method from dashboard. Is that fair for a course supposed to help traders become profitable?
