God Bless you on your farm as I was born 1940 and yes I can remember storms like you just got as I got older.
When i was maybe 10 or eleven I was turned out on a Farmall M or a H with a V Plow to clean out drive ways and ours and neighbours.
Used to get many storms like you are showing. No snow blowers back then and I can remember many storms like you are showing.
Thanks for showing as it brings back many memories for sure.😊

Alan and Jen, boy the picture of the 830 case blowing snow would have made a beautiful Christmas card. But it was nice watching Alan deal with the snow, with the dim lights on the tractor it was beautiful. And then Jens over there pulling down snow with some type of a rake. You have so much more snow than what we have in Western PA. Please be safe. Skip, Western PA

We have a 3 point snowblower, one time I picked up a pebble on the driveway and put through the cinder block wall on the barn fortunately none of the cows were hurt but we never used it again. All bucket work after that. We do have a plow blade that is attached to the 3020 JD and we do use that once in awhile. Your 830 sounds great when it grunts.

I know the snow you are blowing was heavy, but I'm pretty sure your blower has a situation like mine, the paddles on the fan have a bit too much of a gap to the band. Weld something on to the ends of the paddles and you will see a remarkable difference :)

You get a lot of work out of your 30series Case tractors. We had a foot of snow right at Christmas, but it’s all gone now, and rained again today. The addition on my barn has a 4/12 pitch, and as you say, the wind can deliver snow off of the main barn, and make a pile 6 feet deep where it drops on the additions roof. So to allow for the extra snow load, the roof trusses in the addition are spaced at 8 inches apart for the first 10 feet, then 12 for the next 10 feet then increase gradually by 2 inch increments until they reach 3 feet apart at the end of the 60 foot long addition to accommodate the extra snow loading. We often get snow loads like you have this year, and we rarely see a roof with less than a 4/12 pitch. Most are much steeper. Many times barns with a truss roof collapse under snow load’s because the steel plates that hold the truss together rust and fall apart

  • @DonWelter

Your blower certainly works well. There is something so satisfying about watching snow removal while I am able to sit inside my warm house. I did actually enjoy helping to shovel out the driveway when I was younger, then to go inside and feel the warmth on your face as it thaws out. You certainly had your work cut out for you. That was some snow.
Sure have some lovely cows. Also, I have never seen the roof shovel/whatever you were using, but it certainly seems to work well if you can stand up. Such hard work you all do. Thanks for the video and take care. And may God richly Bless you.

So far, this is the 2nd snowiest December on record. Duluth, just north of us, almost beat their record. Typically, by February or March, we'll have a lot of snow on the ground. Starting off with this much snow in December is not typical, especially with 3 snow storms, one right after another.
