- This video shows Dr. Evan Matthews explaining how to perform a VO2max (aerobic capacity fitness test) using a Viasys Vmax Encore metabolic cart. While it does not assess anaerobic energy production or exercise economy, the VO2max test is the best test available for assessing aerobic energy production. This is the gold standard test for assessing aerobic fitness.

It would depend on where you go. Sorry I can't offer more guidance.
@@VivoPhys Thank you very much. Btw, why do you need the extra headgear on top of the mask?Can't you just connect the tubing straight onto the mask set up?
You do not need it, but I find that it makes it more comfortable on the participants mouth and decreases the chance of things coming apart as they move.

I work at Montclair State University, but we do not currently have a program for doing fitness tests on the public.
What is the price of this cart?
I would guess a new one would be $30,000-40,000. You can also get ParvoMedics metabolic cart for that price or even a little less. Their carts are a bit easier to use in my opinion.
