gotta be honest he is kinda lucky with his opponents, Temari, Tayuya and Hidan were chatty and with a big mouth so when they scream how good their techniques are, it makes Shikamaru's work easier

My only issue is they waited until NOW to talk about the elemental advantages between one another. Sure, there was a little bit of that going on before now, but it wasn't as "written in stone" or whatever. It was always more about skill level between the users and less about "oh I have lightning, you're done for." Also, Kakashi, my dude, you're supposed to be one of few handfuls with affinity for each element. Sure, I understand not being able to use powerful water jutsu without a good source of water, but bust out some things other than lightning. What's funny is, this whole concept eventually dies out later one, mostly after Sasuke vs. Deidara, and it goes back to skill between ninja rather than just their elemental affinities.

To be fair, I'm not against the concept of one element being strong against another, but the series didn't really stress that point. Moreso, it was always implied or left to the imagination. Like "yeah, it makes sense to use a water jutsu to counter fire" just like Tobirama did against Hiruzen back in the invasion arc. But now all of a sudden, there's a level of importance in it, then it disappears (or moreso takes a step back again) almost right after. Like I'm fine with Sasuke beating Deidara, but it really should have been "Sasuke beat him DESPITE Deidara's strength, not because he was the natural counter to Deidara's jutsu." Really, it would have been better to just not have this full circle stuff and keep it at a skill level. Like yeah, Tobirama's water jutsu would be good against Hiruzen's fire, but someone like Mitzuki (I think that's his name) would fail.

When it comes to the main characters, the Akatsuki are obviously nerfed. Even Naruto fans know that. Imagine being immortal, lived through ninja wars, encountered powerful shinobis, has multiple skills, had taken down two tails and seven tails, and lost to a Rasenshuriken.
