- The Fuji X-mount system is becoming more open and Tokina is one of the first companies to license the design. Fujifilm users have a variety of choices when it comes to 50mm lenses, which are around 80mm equivalent on aps-c. Considered by many to be the ideal portrait length, let's take a quick overview of the Tokina atx-m 56mm f1.4 and see if it's worth the time and money.

As usual, your videos are on another level in terms of quality and productions values. Those drone shots are superb, editing on-point, and dialogue well delivered. It was awesome seeing the lens in action, and in comparison. Also, those dolls definitely creeped me out 😂. Outstanding video again man!
Thank you so much! Yeah, I'm happy I was able to make it out if there in once piece.
This a really really really good review 🔥🔥🔥 covered all the points and was fun to watch too. Now i am going to wait for your video comparing the Tokina 33mm f1.4 and the new Fujifilm xf 33mm f1.4 😛 lets go
Haha, that's a review I would love to do. That Fuji lens is pretty pricy for me still.
I bought the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 and 33mm f1.4, got a lot of CA and vignetting with both, so both were sent back to the retailer. After I saw your video on Tokina ATX-m 33mm f1.4, I bought one and love it. None of the issues I saw on the Viltrox lenses. After watching this video, I ordered the ATX-m 56mm f1.4, arriving in a day or two.
You're one of the first I've heard of trying both back to back, very interesting finding. I got to play around with a Viltrox 56mm 1.4 and I could tell the build wasn't as good, but I didn't get a chance to really look at the images.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo I actually tried the Viltrox lenses when I had an X-Pro2 as a backup to my Leica M9 and decided to get a couple of autofocus lenses. I think the Viltrox lenses were fairly new then and all of the talking heads were raving over how fantastic they were. The ATX-m 56mm arrived this morning and I got in a couple of test shots just to be sure it works. Now, I'm waiting for your ATX-m 23mm review to see if it's worth getting since I have the ATX-m 33mm. Hopefully Tokina will send you one.
This Is great Quality and INFO. I respect what you have done !!!!!!!! Congratz on building a great channel !!!! HANDZ PRODUCTIONZ CERTIFIED !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you sir for the honor! Very happy that you enjoyed!
Great review, love the effort put in the information provided in this video
Really glad you appreciated it!
Good review and great photos. In comparing the photo taken with the Tokina 56mm f1.4 and the Fujinon 16-80 f4 (which I also have), I preferred the image captured using Tokina.
After the 33mm and the excellent experience I've had, I'm also seriously considering buying the 56mm.
They are really very good lenses and very well built. They just need to be WR to be perfect.
WR would really complete the package, though I'm sure it would impact the price. What I would really like to see is an updated XF 56mm f1.2. I just got the Tokina 23mm in to look at, so I feel another photo trip coming on.
Love your honesty. I hope you grow to upto 100k subscribers :-)
Thank you, I appreciate that. Hopefully will be back soon
Nice video! Have you tried the Sigma 56mm f1.4, how does it compare to this Tokina? Thanks
Great comparison and review. Yeah the 56 seems to really bring a lot more out of the picture for me, just because of the zoom frame. The auto focus was really interesting that it could pick out the specific items so well. What would be cool is to see how well it takes photos in bad lighting, like on a rainy day, etc. to see how much detail it can bring out with minimal natural light.
That's actually a great point that I should have looked a bit deeper into. The f1.4 aperture is good for low light photos. I actually just got sent their 23mm f1.4 too, so I might make that more of a focus for that lens.
Something about the click-less aperture ring feels both futuristic & unsatisfying, lol.
Haha, yeah. If it was linked directly then I would like it, but as it it I prefer the clicks.
Congrats on the FAA 107 as well!
Thanks! Even though it was only a few seconds of footage in this video I think it added value to it.
Nice review...seems to be a good option in terms of price and performance. What I have seen so far in forums and reviews, viltrox 56mm is more popular and people are happy with the results. For me it's a difficult choice between viltrox and tokina.
Yeah. If all that matters is the cost then the Viltrox is the way to go, but I don't mind spending a bit more for the 3 year warranty with service in the US vs 1 year and having to send back to China
@@AdultsHaveToysTooI agree. 3 year warranty really matters a lot especially for the third party lens..
Nice review.
Thank you! I'm happy you liked it.
I really like the Fuji ecosystem but it's pricey and not as much second hand as other popular brands.
Yeah, but it's all pretty high quality. Kinda like buying a Mac vs PC. More money, but they don't really make anything low end.
Wow fuji looks so nice but looking at the prices you could go full frame with other manufacturers.
You absolutely could. I was looking at the Canon EOS R and the Sony A7III before deciding on the X-T4. The x-trans sensor and their film simulations are hard to replicate anywhere else, and getting 10 bit 4k 60fps video internally is something the others can't match. I haven't felt limited at all by having a high end APS-C camera vs a mid-range full frame camera.
Sure
Dissapointing lens...I prefer much cheaper Viltrox. Great review, thank you!
How bout crhomatic abreberation buddy?
Overall good, but as I was going though a few photos after this video it was noticeable in a couple of shots with a strong backlight. Nothing dealbreaking to me.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo thanks for your answer.
so whats the other lens , i want to get the a 56mm?
Been really behind. Taking a look at the 23mm f1.4 now.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo which make
This is the third lens in the Tokina fast prime series for Fujifilm. 23, 33, and 56mm all 1.4. Viltrox has all of the same lenses as well. Did that answer the question or was it another lens you were asking about.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo I just bought the fujifilm 23mm f2 Back in in the day I used to buy tokinia n know it was gd brand , the question is is the 56 tok Better optically and faster than the Fuji 56mm 1.4 ?
I have not tried the Fuji 56mm but I would imagine that the Tokina is not as good optically since the Fuji is supposed to be amazing, but for speed the Tokina wins. The Fuji 56 is still using the old motor.
Fujifilm 50mm f1,not worth it.Optically it is meh wide open, stopped down comparatively is also meh and the autofocus isn't great, actually it is bad. That lens is way too pricy for what you are getting, get yourself a thierd party manual lens it will end up getting more use than the fujinon 50mm f1.
you entered your instagram wrong under the description
Would you look at that, you're totally right. Fixed now. Thanks!
