My question with wands and them choosing their owner. "What happens if a wand chooses someone who can't afford the price tag or do wands all have a base price?"
As Nevile and others show. They can win or use wands owned by others, gifted or won in conquest. Plus hogwarts hands Tom Riddle a fund to purchase his needed items. They are not always ernough for new but ernough for the basics you require. There not as powerful, atuned or successful but they work. It's like a off the peg suit will still look ok but never match one tailored to you in the case of a wand that you did not choose however.
Hogwarts gives funds for kids to get a ward if needed.... they would have handled a muggle born orphans costs. Wands likely have a standard cost. ... but wait. If Hogwarts has funding, why didnt they help Ron replace his wand when it was obviously broken and his family was poor?
I actually had a thought about this recently. Fawkes and phoenixes, in general, are meant to be symbols of healing and rebirth, not necessarily the concept of 'good', and when you think of the fact that the wand chooses the wizard, you can see why two wands with phoenix core would choose two abused little boys. Both abused, both raised in the muggle world, and both given the chance to be reborn into the wizarding one. More often than not, we hear of wands who are exactly like their owners, but there are also references to wands that choose someone with complementary characteristics instead of matching ones. A child who needs to find peace and healing finding a wand of that nature does not necessarily have that characteristic to begin with, only the knowledge that its something they need. It's probably JKs way of making the boy's even in opportunity (even though I strongly disagree that their situations were equitable), but my argument stands. Children are innocent, and when one is in need of healing a phoenix will not discriminate.
This makes a lot of sense. I think more it would be because of the loyalty characteristic of the wand however as that's what's emphasized and special about a phoenix feather core. The children needed stability and something that would never abandon them
@@fightingmedialounge519 I think you misunderstood in which aspect the original post compares Voldemort and Harry. Their situations are different, however, they are both abandoned and abused boys who have nobody in their lives who actually deeply cares for them. That is where they are comparable and that is exactly the reason the original post gives for a phoenix feather core choosing a young child.
I thought the whole point was that Tom Riddle and Harry were very similar, but it was the choices they made that made them different (both abused as children, could be in Slytherin, have great potential for either good or evil). So the feather is just another bond between them, and a way to show that Voldemort is Harry's literary shadow.
@@swzslm1741 that might be true, but feels like a cop out in the complexity department if he was literally born evil, and the difference between him and Harry isn't their choices, but just whether you were born evil/unable to love or not.
That sounds similar to the sociopath nature vs nurture argument. Just because someone is born a sociopath (incapable of feeling empathy) doesn’t mean they’ll be a serial killer. Or just because someone is abused doesn’t mean that they’ll go on to abuse someone else. But if a sociopath is abused, then it’s often a recipe for a potential serial killer. Regardless, everyone still has a choice.
Both Harry and Tom represent death and rebirth, Voldemort reviving in book 4, and Potter at the end of book 7. It isn't about the alignment of good or bad, but how they were similar to a phoenix.
So I always assumed Tom wasn’t destined to be evil. As he had the potential for great evil, so did he have the potential for great good. We see this with Harry. That’s why the cores chose them. Tom could have been good. Instead, he chose evil. Also, J, be nice to Mr. Bob.
In many fantasy stories I've read children that were conceived under the effects of a love spell/potion can never truly experience love. Even though Rowling never confirmed this thats always the idea I was operating under.
Please read the books.....The books say because he was conceived while his father was under the influence of a love potion, he was not capable of feeling or knowing love. So he really had no choice at all.
Elizabeth Forbes Yeah. I've always assumed it was because love potions aren't really love in of itself. Its effects just makes someone really, really obsessed with you. I wonder how it must've been for Tom's dad after being basically magically drugged for years to found out he spent half his life with a woman he didn't know or care about. Pfft, and people try and make her out to be the victim.
@@SwordInc. But like they said, that doesn't effect him choosing whether to be evil or not. Love typically represents good, yes, but that doesn't mean that someone who can't love is going to be evil and there's no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Love isn't the only good thing out there.
A more direct explanation might be that Dumbledore and Voldemort (and Harry) could all be related through the Peverell family. We know for certain that Harry is related to the brother who had the cloak (hence, why his family has it) and we know for certain that Voldemort is related to the brother who had the stone (Marvolo says so when he's waving the ring in the ministry wizard's face). Wouldn't it make sense that Dumbledore is also related to a Peverell brother - which is why he was able to defeat Grindelwald when it was Grindelwald who had the Elder Wand? I think that's why their three lives are so intertwined - because they're all the current descendants of the three Peverell brothers. When Dumbledore's family tries to escape their scandal, they move to Godric's Hollow. Wouldn't it make sense that they chose that particular place because that's where a part of their family comes from? I think the Deathly Hallows ended up with who they ended up with because of that familial tie.
Harry and Voldemort were definitely related to the Peverell family. But I dont think Dumbledore was. The Peverell with the Elder wand had his throat sliced so was he able to produce children before that?? And isnt Voldemort, Snape and Harry supposed to be the Three Peverells. and Dumbledore is the Death above them all.
That would sort of tie the story nicely, as in the original Hallows story, the invisible cape brother survives and lives a long life, while the other two die early/miserably. Voldemort and Dumbledore/Snape die violently + without next of kin, while Harry lives a long life and has family. Right?
@@ankitdas6620 Dumbledoor was most definitely the embodiment of death, Voldemort being Antioch Peverell died because of his hunger for power, Snape as Cadmus Peverell eventually died and finally be with the love oh his life in the afterworld, and Harry meeting death(dumbledoor) like an old friend when he was ready to die just like Ignotus Peverell did.
I honestly think that Creedence is the embodiment not of Dumbledore’s Obscurus but of his deceased sister’s surviving Obscurus. That would make sense how he’s a Dumbledore.
Hey brothers! I’ve been going through a lot recently (I’ve been really lonely, basically) but you guys have been keeping me company! Thank you so much for being my friends these past few years when I had none ❤️💙
So, does that mean that Fawkes is just evil? That he always aligned with the dark side but was just consigned to listen to Albus because he was a Dumbledore?
@@davidburris2420 Fawkes seems to follow great leaders or Wizards with potential above the norm. I think voldermort as a child had a lot of potential but he chose the evil path.
"I remember every wand I've ever sold, Mr. Potter. Every single wand. It so happens that the phoenix whose tail feather is in your wand, gave another feather -- just one other. It is very curious indeed that you should be destined for this wand when its brother why, its brother gave you that scar." Well, Olivander calls the wands "brothers", so...
Yes! He didn’t say twin he said brother! (Yes I am aware just how much of this is splitting hairs as twins are very much still brothers. I am 100% on board with this theory since I am 100% certain that Ollivender would have used twin if they were donated at the same time).
Yes, he is the same Fawkes. The soul of the bird is the same, and by being reborn of its own ashes, it is the same substance molecularly that comprised the previous Fawkes.
@@beccag2758 one of the interviews I saw with the directors said baby Groot was the equivalent of big Groot son not clone. That that was how they reproduced.
I think JK Rowling recognized that it would be ridiculous for Harry to win multiple duels against the 2nd greatest wizard ever so she threw this in to make him seem lucky and keep his self confidence low until he learned more about truly finishing Voldemort
Treed if you interpret “being flung across the room at the same time” and “barely escaping with his life” as “winning”, then yes, that’s probably why it was written that way.
Did u finish the video before u commented? He mentioned that it is very much possible that the wands were *not* made at the same time. We usually assume that’s the case, but it’s not necessarily so
@@MerkhVision Yes he said "...could have been donated at different times." The possibility that Harry's wand was sitting there for 50 years is why I commented.
Awethan EX12 that’s my opinion too... and it’s probably the right one! My guess is that Fawkes knew that giving a feather to Voldemort and Harry would not only just save Harry, but also be the only way Voldemort could be defeated.
That's a really good point. I mean - CLEARLY Fawkes knows a LOT more than he lets on, like when he knew to follow Harry into the Chamber. I mean - we don't know for 100% certain Dumbledore did that, so Fawkes could have future abilities. Plus, Phoenixes are associated with flames, and Pyromancy comes from Pyro (Fire) and Mancy (Divination), which literally means The Divination of Fire, and since Divination is the art of reading the future, it's entirely possible that Fawkes was able to predict the future, because Phoenixes are so deeply linked to fire. ...Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.
@@critical_failure Press X to doubt on that one. Pyromancy has meant not just fire divination but fire-based magic in general for at least a good few decades at this point, probably even longer than JK Rowling has been alive and while it's certainly not implausible that she knew the word's original meaning before writing Harry Potter you shouldn't go around putting words in her mouth.
Or, Dumbledore intentionally gave those two feathers as per some kind of grand plan? Like he was able to see the future... time turner? And engineer just the right set of events to lead to the outcome he wanted?
@@AmyraCarter And I’ll be the one to go out on a limb here (maybe); they both fly. Harry on a broom, Voldy by... weird edginess. ALSO! When Harry and Voldy kinda... meld together in the last book/movie while *flying,* that could also symbolize the fact that you can’t have life without death and vice versa.
I think it just shows that Voldemort also had the potential to become a good wizard. The books are very much about the choices we make to become who we are, instead of people being inherently evil.
Voldemort, at the time of receiving his wand has already demonstrated the qualities that would define him as an adult, not to mention fully matured wizard. I believe Tom has already made up boss mind about the kind of person he wanted to be. Gaining access to magic allowed him to justify his beliefs and actions in his own twisted way.
The books say because he was conceived while his father was under the influence of a love potion, he was not capable of feeling or knowing love. So he really had no choice at all.
Oh, I'm a sociopath who cant feel love. So I will be mean to people, but I will NOT start a cult of muggle hating murderers and split my seal. I cant feel love, but at least I have commen sence
Stan Beyani I want to tell myself you're wrong but it's hard to argue with how evil Tom is. It's not even the things he's done, it's that he's such a unrealistic, immature type of evil. I think that's actually one of the things I most dislike about the franchise. Tom is so one dimensional. I feel like Rowling, as good of a writer as she is, did not give Tom enough time to grow. She didn't explore why he had the beliefs he did or why he felt so self righteous about wizard supremacy. It's like she didn't know how to balance out Tom from Voldemort. Honestly, Voldemort was at his most terrifying when he wasn't present imo. Because people not calling him by his actual name sort of transformed him into this superstition of sorts. A literal dead man walking.
Can we just appreciate that the 2 most powerful dark wizards (Grindelwald and Voldemort) were both afraid of Albus Dumbledore and saw him as a threat?!?!
I am from the Department Against Mistreatment of Magical Creatures! I am here on the behalf of Mr. Bob and I am here to inform you that a formal investigation against J. Carlin has been opened.
@@silverkyre I remember when I first found out that Harry had a part of Voldemort in him the entire time, I thought about the parselmouth, the twin cores, and maybe even the raw power.
I have another theory: So J said that the phoenix represents rebirth. And Ollivander said that Voldemort did great things (terrible, yes, but great) and implies that Harry will do great things. Harry and Voldemort are very special: Harry survives the Killing Curse twice (first time he was saved by love and second he sacrificed himself out of love) and Voldemort is the first wizard to create more than 1 Horcrux. Voldemort has been "rebirthed" because he underwent such a great transformation. Harry is "rebirthed" because he, well, didn't die when he was killed two times in his life. Also, Voldemort HAS done great things: he pushed the boundaries of magic further than anyone else had ever attempted. Obviously, Harry has also done lots of great things. Maybe Harry and Voldemort both perfectly represented the Phoenix and were an equal match for each other (like the prophecy said, Voldemort created his enemy). And why Fawkes? Clearly Dumbledore is strongly connected to both characters. He was the one to bring Tom Riddle into the Wizarding World. Dumbledore was the one who gave Harry his quest. And Fawkes is loyal to Dumbledore. Fawkes was so close to him that the feathers Fawkes gave were ~infused~ with Dumbledore-ness... Just another possible theory????

I always just imagined Fawkes laying two feathers in front of Dumbledore and Olivander. As the Phoenix magestically takes flight, bird poop falls directly onto one feather. "I guess that one is going to the dark Lord"
Dumbledore’s patronus is a Phoenix. He taught both of them, he played a part in the raising of both of them - a sort’ve parent to two orphans - it makes perfect sense they both have Phoenix feathers in their wands.
Yea or maybe 2 fell off at some point (whether during a fight or regeneration) and Dumbledore gave them to olivander because they are rare cores and he already won the elder wand. He could have been experimenting to see how powerful the wands from them would be.
Maybe Dumbledore contacted Olivander to have him make a phoenix feather wand for Credence, one that was powerful enough to destroy the blood pact. But knowing the power and danger of making a wand more powerful than most others, from being obsessed with the elder wand together with Grindelwald in his youth, Dumbledore asked Olivander to make a second wand that would equal the power of the first one. That would mean that Dumbledore unknowingly enabled the crimes of Voldemort in the future by providing Credence with a powerful wand so that they could stop the crimes of Grindelwald. This would have made an even greater burden of guilt on Dumbledore for the rise of Voldemort, but it would also mean that he knew about the potential of the second wand to eventually defeat Voldemort all along. Dumbledore might have been waiting many years for the second wand to choose its master. When it finally choose Harry, the boy who survived Voldemort’s killing curse, there was hope that his plan to make a second rivallary wand to safeguard against the first one might work.
Yea I was thinking along those lines too, the needing a power balance part. (Esp. if he has the elder wand and was worried about temptation) But that's just a Theory!.... A film Theory... oh wrong channel lol
Can we keep in mind that Dumbledore himself wasn't always necessarily aligned with good? After all, he and Grindlewald (Grinedelwald?) once worked toward the same goals then parted ways.
A Phoenix giving two feathers might symbolise it’s comtribution to a great balance between the power of opposites . The Phoenix represents both opposites creation and destruction. Two feathers symbolise that the nature of the Phoenix is tied to the ultimate fate of balance between good and evil . Harry and voldy getting their respective wands was appropriate . The pheonix wand given to voldy was appropriate as he truly could perform a large range of magic , the wand found an appropriate master . Harry was meant to have the other wand as he was meant to destroy Voldemort and Priori incantatum would be part of the destiny of chosen one ,or else harry would be dead and goblet of fire would be the last movie . Both the twin Wands were loyal to voldy and harry but their true loyalty was to balance between opposites the legacy of the Phoenix . The twin Wands worked together to prevent Voldemort from destroying his horcrux harry and they both worked to help Harry survive Voldemort . Harry’s wand was loyal to him and voldy wand was loyal to him , but above this they were loyal to balance between good and evil . One of the feathers contributed to Voldemort’s power , Voldemort’s creation but also to the creation of his horcrux harry . The other wand also contributed to the creation of harry in the context it brought up the boy who lived and played a crucial role in his life which was essential to destroy Voldemort . Conclusion of the effect of the twin Wands 1) creating Voldemort 2)creating horcrux harry 3) protecting Voldemort from destroying his own horcrux 4) creating the chosen one 5) protecting the chosen one 6) destroying Voldemort It appears each of their wand was loyal to them but by doing so loyal to their true and higher cause : the legacy of balance of opposites , the legacy of the pheonix
I have a question. How did Lucious get away with attempting the killing curse, on a student, in the middle of hogwarts, right outside Dumbledore's office
@@dianagolac6079 I didn't think so at first either. But the more I watched that scene Lucious is clearly mouthing "avada....." right before dobbys "force push"
I think it is interesting that both people the Phoenix feathers cores both chose people who came back from the dead. Voldemort through his horcruxes and Harry through the Deathly Hallows.
didn't harry came back due to Horcruxes too? I mean the fact that he willingly allowed himself to be killed by Voldemort, so he instead killed the horcrux inside him.
francargeric1 no Harry came back because of the deathly hallows, which gave the possessor of all 3 mastery over death, and thus the power to come back after dying. He did die to get rid of Voldemort’s horcrux within himself, but he did not have any horcruxes.
Theres a difference between replacing parts of an axe and a Phoenix being reborn, because with a phoenix it's being remade from its own ashes, and with the axe, your replacing all the parts with pieces that werent originally a part of it.
3:50 "Dumbledore knows that Fawkes gave the feather to Tom's wand => he owned Fawkes at that time" the implication does not stand. he might have learned that the feather is from that particular bird, thrack it down, and then buy it from the previous owner (or tame it, or whatever). He is certainly capable of acquiring objects he deems necessary or interesting. Also, using the Occam's razor, I completely agree with what Mary Vallas said somewhere in this comment section

One thing that has me asking a lot more questions is "how did Voldemort get his old wand back?" He clearly states to his death eaters "I was less than a spirit" and we know that he was unable to actually hold a wand without his body, he also states this. We know that he went to the Potter's household alone that night, because if he had been with some death eaters, they would have been able to perform the spell needed to restore him, and wouldn't have needed to "seek him out" as he states in the graveyard. We also know that the order of the phoenix gets to the potter household relatively fast afterwards, as Hagrid states he pulled Harry from the rubble himself. That means that Voldemort's wand must have been in the rubble at the time the order of the phoenix came to inspect, and assuming the killing curse didn't obliterate Voldemort's body (which would either have destroyed the items he was wearing/carrying, or left them all in the rubble still), the wand should be there, and I'm sure the Auroras and/or the order of the phoenix would have searched the place pretty thoroughly, not least to extract the bodies of the potters, they should have found it. Considering they didn't find the wand, and it would be a death eater who went and searched later, that would mean it had to be Peter who went and searched, and found the wand, then holding on to the wand of his Master without using it, and without expecting Voldemort to be alive. So how does Voldemort get his own wand back?
Right! And where did Peter keep it, the whole time he was a rat living with the Weasleys? Safe deposit box at Gringott's? What about his own wand when he turned into a rat and ran away? Did he Pizza Rat it down into the sewer with him?
Maybe Dumbledore tried to give on his legacy with the hallows and everything. Voldemort and Harry are both decendants of the Pevrell Brothers. Maybe that's why Dumbledore went to Riddle himself because of that connection. And the phoenix is a conquerer of death
2:49 HR? Human Resources? Not PR - Phoenix Resources? That might be confusing. BR - Bird Resources? MCR - Magical Creature Resources? I don't know, but it's sure not human.
There's more to a wand's "choosing" then the core the wood also plays a part what's more keep in mind that wands tend to figuratively grow along with the witch or wizard they chose.
I think the explanation is simple. We know that Dumbledore went around tracing Voldemort's past. Since Olivander remembers every wand he ever sold, he should have revealed that the wand core was a phoenix feather. Dumbledore should have acquired the bird to work out a way to neutralize Voldemort's wand. As phoenix always helps a Dumbledore in need, it should have willingly given a second feather. The wand eventually chose Voldemort again. But only this time it was the Voldemort that was within Harry.
I have three theories. First I figured that because of Dumbledores interest in Voldemort he tracked down the Phoenix after learning of the wands. Not that interesting and very dry in story. Second I originally thought the wand choose Harry because of the part of Voldemort inside him. It seemed to relate with his Parsel tongue ability and simular traits. Third and more likely deals with the wands being part of the prophecy. Keep up with me. This can go two ways. First the second coming of the dark lord gets a wand and his prophesied rival gets its twin. That proposes the it could be the work of a higher power of magic balance. Third part two. Upon learning of Valdemorts wand and the Phoenix Dumbledore tracks it down and it either donates a second feather which they keep watch over until the rival presents itself (or the feather already has been donated they could just suspect it being aligned with the prophecy and the Phoenix could be a backup trump card in their arsenal). Harry has many abilities that lend to his advantage in the rivalry against Valdemort, Dumbledore admits that he used Harry. This could all be a long con built off of the prophecy engineering the perfect end to the dark wizard. The love defense, the wand, his Parsel tongue, him being a holcrux, the collection of the deathly hallows. This all seems to speak to a chain of events engineered by the balance of fate or a skilled wizard like Dumbledore. Dumbledores plan would have started the night of the Potter attack. This would require his suspension of either the prophecy or the holcrux embodying Harry at that moment. Anyway tell me what you think.
Please, just call the poor bird Mr. Bob. Also I always just thought it was Fawkes because it was cooler... but maybe Fawkes set the twin cores thing up from the very beginning?
I have a different theory: According to Herodotus, the Egyptians (or more accurately the inhabitants of Heliopolis) believed that the phoenix came to a temple every 500 years, where it died and rose from the ashes. To me this implies one of two things: 1 A phoenix can only die once every 500 years to be reborn 2 A phoenix has precognition about its death We see Fawkes die twice in the span of three to four years, so I am going with number two. It may be the case, that a phoenix doesn't only have precognition about his next death, but about all his deaths in the future, which would include precognition about being killed by Voldemort, which would mean he had at least a little precognition about the most powerful dark wizard of all time as well. So Fawkes being aware of the threat gave two feathers: One goes to Voldemort (which means Fawkes ironically created the weapon that kills him) while the other waits in Ollivander's shop until a boy enters, who is destined to defeat the dark lord. Fawkes wasn't "edgy" or a "dark phoenix". He cleverly laid out a death trap to a wizard who never expected that beings he considered "lesser creatures" were able to harm him.
I think it's interesting that the Fawk feather chose Voldemort. And I believe it is only because Harry had a cursed mark from Voldemort i.e horocrux, that he was able to get chosen by the Fawk feather wands brother wand
My personal feeling is that Fawkes had a premonition of the future and gave the feather/wand to Voldy knowing someday his equal would be born for the wand to be given to. Fawkes definitely has some abilities like that, because he was able to find harry in the chamber of secrets
Tom Riddle being Voldemort isnt a secret, its just no one whp lnpws dares to bring it up. Voldemort isnt young; people who knew him as Tom are few. And the ones who do know, how many speam of him above a whisper?
it is a secret, basically harry found out with tom's diary, but i dont think they made it public, also olivander mentioned this in the first movie, after no one knew that tom riddle was voldemort. tom was even a teacher on hogwarts and was presumed dead after his appearence changed @@shihoblade
Aside from trying to come up with an in universe reason to explain how it happened, there's also the literary significance that the wands from Fawkes, the creature most associated with Dumbledore in a series where connecting people with animals is such a massive theme, are choosing the people who embody the core aspects of Dumbledore's inner conflict. Dumbledore has a truly terrible human being inside him that he constantly keeps in check by trying to be a good man. Its the easy for a good man to be good, but incredibly hard for an evil one to be a good man, and that's played out as a life and death struggle between Harry and Voldemort, neither can live while the other survives. Maybe that's too obvious because the righteous struggle to remain a good person is one of the most blatant themes in the series, but I felt like I should say it
Once donated would either feather or any other core for that matter retain any semblance of the donating creature’s personality. We’ve heard that the elder wand, of elder wood with a core of the thestral hair always seeks out the stronger wizard. We’ve also learned that of the three primary core types (unicorn hair, Phoenix feather & dragon heartstring) are of differing strengths. Perhaps such wands seek partners/wizards whose gifts and/or attitudes best suit them.
PHOENIX GAVE CORE TO THE WANDS OF VOLDEMORT AND HARRY BECAUSE BOTH OF THEM WOULD RISE FROM THE DEAD LIKE PHOENIX ITSELF. Also Olivander stated that he would achieve big unfathomable heights just like the owner of the twin sister wand. What greater a height than cheating Death????
But that's probably true for dozens of people I think? Wasn't his whole role as teacher and then headteacher defined by wanting to reach out to wizards and witches who were growing up in muggle worlds, whereas the other magical schools shunned them? It seems certain that there were other orphans too, statistically speaking.

Kristine Schilling exactly. Ron definitely had a second hand wand and on top of it the whomping willow broke it 😂😂😂
I actually had a thought about this recently.
The children needed stability and something that would never abandon them
This needs more attention
You strongly disagree that their situations are equitable yet you do that in your post.
@@fightingmedialounge519 I think you misunderstood in which aspect the original post compares Voldemort and Harry. Their situations are different, however, they are both abandoned and abused boys who have nobody in their lives who actually deeply cares for them. That is where they are comparable and that is exactly the reason the original post gives for a phoenix feather core choosing a young child.
musicals4thesoul I can’t like more then once
I thought the whole point was that Tom Riddle and Harry were very similar, but it was the choices they made that made them different (both abused as children, could be in Slytherin, have great potential for either good or evil). So the feather is just another bond between them, and a way to show that Voldemort is Harry's literary shadow.
Cotton Candy Sharks The big difference is that Voldemort was born without the ability to feel love right?
@@OhKaeThen Exactly, there are far more sociopaths around than people realize. In fact, we probably know a few.

True, but an inability to experience love doesn’t mean you can’t still be good or at the very least do good.
Please read the books.....The books say because he was conceived while his father was under the influence of a love potion, he was not capable of feeling or knowing love. So he really had no choice at all.
Elizabeth Forbes
Yeah.
This needs more likes
Daaaang, yes! This makes so much sense
I honestly think that Creedence is the embodiment not of Dumbledore’s Obscurus but of his deceased sister’s surviving Obscurus. That would make sense how he’s a Dumbledore.
Or maybe, you know, Abeforth fooled around when he was younger and ta da. Lots of people seem to forget Abeforth is a Dumbledore too

This is much more likely than J's theory
It would still tie it back to his identity and the importance of his choices (a Gryffindor). Love it!
Of course that's why the story was written this way, but she'd also need an in-universe explanation, which is what the video tries to explain
Treed if you interpret “being flung across the room at the same time” and “barely escaping with his life” as “winning”, then yes, that’s probably why it was written that way.

What if the reason Fawkes’ feather chose Voldemort was so that it could protect Harry later on?
@Gailyn Lee saved me the trouble of typing a long explanation 😂
@@critical_failure Press X to doubt on that one. Pyromancy has meant not just fire divination but fire-based magic in general for at least a good few decades at this point, probably even longer than JK Rowling has been alive and while it's certainly not implausible that she knew the word's original meaning before writing Harry Potter you shouldn't go around putting words in her mouth.
Or, Dumbledore intentionally gave those two feathers as per some kind of grand plan? Like he was able to see the future... time turner? And engineer just the right set of events to lead to the outcome he wanted?
you forgot the symbolism of the wand wood in the two Tom's being a Yew wand "Death" while Harry's is Holly "life"

Voldemort was inherently evil from the word go. Wasn't even about choices..

I want to tell myself you're wrong but it's hard to argue with how evil Tom is.

I have another theory:
So J said that the phoenix represents rebirth.

Dumbledore’s patronus is a Phoenix. He taught both of them, he played a part in the raising of both of them - a sort’ve parent to two orphans - it makes perfect sense they both have Phoenix feathers in their wands.
Why would dumbledore have ever given Olivander two feathers for wands in the first place?
Maybe Ollivander knew Dumbledore had a pet phoenix and asked him whether he was willing to give some feathers because they're so rare.
(Esp. if he has the elder wand and was worried about temptation)

Conclusion of the effect of the twin Wands
1) creating Voldemort
2)creating horcrux harry
3) protecting Voldemort from destroying his own horcrux
4) creating the chosen one
5) protecting the chosen one
6) destroying Voldemort
It appears each of their wand was loyal to them but by doing so loyal to their true and higher cause : the legacy of balance of opposites , the legacy of the pheonix

One thing that has me asking a lot more questions is
"how did Voldemort get his old wand back?"
He clearly states to his death eaters "I was less than a spirit" and we know that he was unable to actually hold a wand without his body, he also states this.
What if Fawkes belonged to Arianna, after she died it fled and later came back to be reunited with her obscurus (Credence)
Lost Boy, that makes sense!
Ariana Swan Maybe he’ll adopt it after he defeats Credence. The final memory and heirloom to his sister
Please do an updated version of grislyeagleshark vs girrafalant
Yes. Please.
Great video J and Ben! Hope you have an awesome day!
1:50 The Fear of the Twin Cores and How to Overcome Them, movie coming 2029
Maybe it’s because Harry and Voldemort both can back from the dead like a phoenix
It would seem we are the only two that had this thought...
Brilliant
Yes!! and their connection to death even surpasses that... they both have the legacy of deathly hallows.
Maybe Dumbledore tried to give on his legacy with the hallows and everything. Voldemort and Harry are both decendants of the Pevrell Brothers. Maybe that's why Dumbledore went to Riddle himself because of that connection. And the phoenix is a conquerer of death
but Voldemort didn't come back from the dead by age 11 when we got the wand...
Will we see the Ice bird in the 3rd Fantastic Beasts movie/book? I mean, we saw his brethren(the Thunder bird and the Phoenix) in the 1st 2.
Yes, we saw Zapdos and Moltres, but what about Articuno?
Mind-blowingly excellent theory, but I feel sorry for Mr. Bob.
2:49 HR? Human Resources? Not PR - Phoenix Resources? That might be confusing. BR - Bird Resources? MCR - Magical Creature Resources? I don't know, but it's sure not human.
The funny thing is that I also have a phoenix plushie named Bob.
Rainbow Alicorn are sure it doesn’t want to be Mr.Bob
@@theincompleterealm1582 After this video, he really wants to be.
Rainbow Alicorn don’t abuse him, let him live a better life than Mr.Bob here.
HAHAHAHA. I loved that jab at the Dark Phoenix saga.
6:00 J: "Whew! That's a lot to do!
Me: Don't worry, he can handle it. It's Dumbledore, he'll just hand those tasks off to other people.
There's more to a wand's "choosing" then the core the wood also plays a part what's more keep in mind that wands tend to figuratively grow along with the witch or wizard they chose.
Could the phoenix that appeared to Credence/ Aurelius Dumbledore eventually become Fawkes?
One thing I know about Credence is that he's part of the Clearwater Revival
I lol'd
😂😂😂
Too many people didn't get this.
haha good one. :P that one got me laughing pretty hard in fact! xD
Is that a religion baptismal thing? (credo = latin for faith, clearwater revival = baptismal renewal)?
"If you heard of the ship of Theseus paradox"
Me right after watching Wandavision, thinkin someone is spying me: 😶
Something interesting I realised was that I was thinking of that exact same paradox before watching the video .
It's especially important when you keep in mind that Dumbledore basically raised both Harry and Voldemort like a foster parent.
I have a different theory:
According to Herodotus, the Egyptians (or more accurately the inhabitants of Heliopolis) believed that the phoenix came to a temple every 500 years, where it died and rose from the ashes.
To me this implies one of two things:
1 A phoenix can only die once every 500 years to be reborn
2 A phoenix has precognition about its death
We see Fawkes die twice in the span of three to four years, so I am going with number two.
I relate to Bob. He is my new Patronus.

Sounds more like a Phoenix rebirth is like a Gallifreyan Time Lord regeneration...
How did olivander know which wand voldemort has? If he remembers every wand he ever sold does that mean olivander knew voldemort was tom riddle?
Yes. He remembers every wand, so Voldemort running around using the wand he sold to Riddle wouldn't be hard to piece together
Tom Riddle being Voldemort isnt a secret, its just no one whp lnpws dares to bring it up. Voldemort isnt young; people who knew him as Tom are few. And the ones who do know, how many speam of him above a whisper?
it is a secret, basically harry found out with tom's diary, but i dont think they made it public, also olivander mentioned this in the first movie, after no one knew that tom riddle was voldemort. tom was even a teacher on hogwarts and was presumed dead after his appearence changed

Maybe that's too obvious because the righteous struggle to remain a good person is one of the most blatant themes in the series, but I felt like I should say it
Heck yeah Bob by the way I love your channel you guys are amazing❤️❤️❤️😁😁😁

MISTER BOB THE PHOENIX
Nikki Hansen ex-cuuuussseee me! Have some respect for Mr Bob
Fawks gave a third feather, book 5, “we need, a warning.”
I would love to see where that ended up
Turned to ash ?
Theory: Within Dumbledore there is a great power to do good and evil. His Phoenix expresses that.
I loved old “Hey brother” intro more
My theory is the wand didn't choose harry but chose the part of voldamorts soul that made harry a horacrux
If Dumbledore had Fawkes in "Crimes of Grindelwald" I'm fairly certain he wouldn't keep him in the classroom, in view of just anyone.
Am i the only one that likes the other intro better?
Yes. Old one was better

You can review all these when i i can't even review for a test

Maybe it's because dumbeldore actively looked and "rescued" Harry and Tom from being orphans, and brought them both into the wizarding world
But that's probably true for dozens of people I think? Wasn't his whole role as teacher and then headteacher defined by wanting to reach out to wizards and witches who were growing up in muggle worlds, whereas the other magical schools shunned them? It seems certain that there were other orphans too, statistically speaking.
@@gregoryfenn1462 Maybe, but dumbeldore may have had a stronger bond with these two
