I have lost 3 children. The last one was 21 years old thru illness. I found out if these separations, that "smile" has been the most theraphy which guide me thru faith and understanding that God doesnt play dice... SMILE with the universe, and you will feel tht you are still one with the departing ones...
I hope you are doing better now. :) ❤️ May your children rest in peace, and they be resting in a better place now. 🕊 Cherish the memories and the present moments you have with your loved ones, because you never know when they’ll be gone. Don’t cry because they’re gone, smile because it happened.
Interestingly enough, Charlie Chaplin had crippling depression, yet, found the way to make the whole world laugh. So to me it is incredible, and impressive how well he overcame his issue, Truly a great.
being a depressive comedian myself i can tell you sometimes when you just have no joy in you you can create joy in another and through their laughter you can find your own.
The art people produce - be it music, visual, words - often doesn't reflect their state of mind at the time. People have produced joyous art while in the depths of despair and equally, have produced heartbraking music while being happy in their lives.
The great thing about this song is that, while the lyrics encourage me to smile, I can't help myself from crying. Hopeful words set to a heartbreaking melody. This contradiction of emotion was Chaplin's genius.
I'm proud to say that this simple words changed my life and it completely changed the way I look at the world the sime melody, the beauty in the words, Charlie was truly a legend. It will be a long time before another such legend will come into the world . He should not be remembered for the way he died but the way he lived, the way he bravely fought back tears and brought and joy in others and other's lives.#Restinpeace.
I lost my sister and my best friend in the world on Thursday night. This was her favourite song and she had such a passion for this man. I'll never get over losing her. I'm 37, she was 39, but this song makes me smile with a tear rolling down my cheek, just as she would have wanted. I miss you, Natalie x
43 years ago, in Inglewood, CA a beautiful, brown eyed baby girl was born. She would bring so much joy to her family, and their hearts would be filled with love to love her no matter what. Happy Birthday Tomy beautiful, bubbly, and awesome sister, that I wouldn't trade for anything or anyone in or around the world. Glenda Sabrina Gallegos. I love you and I pray God's blessings, and favor will shine down in you on today. Love you.
Charlie Chaplin.. wow, he's one of the most inspiration people who ever lived. I would have loved to meet him. Hope I'll see him in heaven some day. :)
SMILE - one of the greatest song....it was composed by charlie chaplin....written by turner - parson....sung by nate king cole... michael and durante also covered it...my fvt is jimmy durante's version.....the joker one.... 👌👌👌
Beautiful and moving… and full of truth, somehow suspended between sadness, faith, and unwavering hope… ✨✨✨ Thank you for the adorable song, rendition and photos! 🙏🍀
This has been my favorite song since I heard it the movie My Girl 2. I have a chronic pain condition and I remember being told that my honest answers to, "How are you" were.... not well received. I thought my family and closest friends understood. I was wrong. And this song taught me so very much. When I'm struggling, i find myself humming this song and I find strength in it, in myself. I so wish I could thank Mr. Charlie Chaplin for the strength he's given me.
saying that, it's nice to have a video where the composer and writer get first billing. So often in videos, the singer is lauded while those who create the music are almost forgotten.
a WWII veteran told me a story about how he was in the pacific ocean on the equator for 3 days and 3 nights. he passed his time singing this song and soon the tide brought him in to safety. im very happy to find this song. i can see why he sang it for three days!
Smile Though your heart is aching Smile even tho, it's breaking When there are clouds,, in the sky,, you'll get by If you smile through your fear and sorrow, Smile and may be tomorrow You'll see the sun, come shining through, for you Light up your face with gladness Hide every trace of sadness Although a tear,,, may be ever,, so near That's the time you must keep on trying Smile, what's the use of crying? You'll find that life, is still worthwhile,, If you just smile. That's the time you must keep on trying Smile what's the use of crying You'll find that life, is still worthwhile,, If you,, just smile...
I don't know why, but some of the early London Country Leyland Atlanteans, the MPJ - L batch, made me think of Charlie Chaplin. The front windscreens are what made me think of him.
I didn't know Chaplin composed that song. what a genius. I just saw the biopic Chaplin with Robert Downey Jr. Very moving portrait of the man, whose happiness was stolen from him at every turn-- and he was even kicked out of America-- but he was great.
Smile thought your heart is aching. Smile thought it's breaking. when there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by. If you smile thought your fears and sorrow. Smile and maybe tomorrow. this song has given me a history lesson almost i mean i went from thinking it was a song purely to promote a film about the origins of DC's own joker to thinking it was a song from the... 60's? sung by Jimmy Durante to then realizing it was actually written by Charlie Chaplin himself a man who many credited as the greatest comedian of all time and who can blame them he diddnt have vocals to work with his comedy was physical he had only actors and props and yet here he is today well figuratively anyway the point is this song has immense history and will be embedded into my memory
When I read the second verse, wow, and especially: "hide every trace of sadness." - I feel that he is really talking about a old school. It is an awful sentence, and really the opposite of the cardinal truths we learn from other cultures and sadness. There is a time for joy, and there is a time of mourning and sadness.
What happened to this mentality? Now people lead conversations with their most personal problems. Less 'awareness' of mental illness, more stoic smiles.
One of Micheal Jackson’s favorite song ❤
Yes it's true and I can understand why
I absolutely love his take on it ❤ the cute little laugh he incorporated was soo adorable 😍.

Oprah Winfrey and Gary zukav talked about pain and loss . Check it out it might help you. Wish you peace and love 💕
I‘m so sorry for your losses… and I sincerely hope that there‘ll always be someone to make you smile and to share your smiles… 🌻
I hope you are doing better now. :) ❤️ May your children rest in peace, and they be resting in a better place now. 🕊 Cherish the memories and the present moments you have with your loved ones, because you never know when they’ll be gone. Don’t cry because they’re gone, smile because it happened.

Tanks a lot for the words!❤❤
