I'm challenging the GSEC. I finally paid up and now waiting for approval. I'm building an index off a CISSP study guide, a couple condensed guidebooks, and handwritten notes. I seriously hope I'm not burning 2k on a failing grade.
Great points. I have 2 weeks to get an IT cert. I've chosen to take the GLSC as my job is dependent on this. I am trying to get all of the books and studying materials without paying the $6800, is that the only option that I have to get the materials? Thanks.
Thanks for valuable information, I have completed CTI sans course and I plan to have the certificate but actually I dont have the skills of indexing, So please if you can to share the names of columns of your index so that will help me to start my index . best regards.
4 days is more than enough if you already know - or at least understand - everything, but if this is the case why do you bother preparing. So basically the advise: know magically everything so you won't need time for preparing, good luck.
It's better to create your own. The focus on making your index is that you can design it however it better helps you navigate. I made mine like: |Title of slide - Page | Info out of section| Bullet points with more info if need be. I passed my GCIH early this year and taking GPEN next month, I'm working on my index right now.
@@Timanator Thanks so much. I'm thinking of just using a 401K loan. Question: I make nearly 100k at my current job. How realistic is it to think I can make close to that starting out in INFOSEC? (With the right certifications of of course.) Right now I'm on a 5 year plan to get out of security contractor work, and looking for something a little less physically demanding. One other option I'm considering is creating an independent business and doing IT work part-time, on the side until I get established in the industry. Your thoughts? Thanks again!
Thanks for the tips and for sharing your process with us. I have my Network+ and Security+ and now I'm looking to earn another cert. I was thinking of CySA+, but I'm really interested in GSEC. Since I have very little experience, could either of those certs help me earn an entry-level position?
I'm probably too late here, but do the cysa+ so that you can take advantage of comptia hierarchical certification renewals. Save your sans money on more marketable giac certs like gcih, gcia, gcfa, etc
@@576pcworld yes, you are allowed to bring any printed materials with you.,I would also print off the GIAC page that shows that exams are open book, as there have been reports of testing centres not believing students that they are open book
Timanator I will not unfortunately. Not only is it against GIAC policy (thus putting me at risk of losing my cert) but the books change regularly. I will gladly share materials pertinent to what the exams cover (such as tools and techniques)

Does GIAC allows to refer to notes during exam? I was thinking we can't refer to any material during test!
You’re allowed to bring the SANS books and any material provided in the class.
I’m about taking my GFACT AND GSEC SOON..can you help out a bit once more about the indexing?
I am sorry, This is my first time I am planning to sit for SANS certs....Could you please give an advice on the Labs practices of that course ?

how did you do?
Hello 0x4rkØ how can I get the books that you are referring to so I can make my index?
You have to attend the SANS class
Nice video bro. This was really helpful.

So, here's the question: How do pay for the cert?
💲💲💲💲💲💲💲
† Ranger for Jesus † when you pay for SANS, you can purchase to take the cert
Sell yourself on corners or Download the letter on the GIAC website for your manager, so that your job will invest in you.

Where do you buy the book?
dirt lint you have to attend the course
Have you taken GCIA? Do you think that is the best GIAC cert for defensive security?
I have not
I'm looking to take the GCFA. What's the process after paying? Do they have a specific time period you have to take the exam in?
Paul Simons 90 days after the course
Once you pay you get a standard 4months to complete most if not all the GIAC exams, hope that helps!

Marvin I attended SEC401 by SANS. All of the materials in the test is covered in the class, however you do not need to attend SANS to table GIAC certs
