I cried listening to it. This is the first time I heard all the stanzas of the National Anthem.
In schools and everywhere, we sing only the first stanza.
I can't but go back to think of our independence.. Stupid Idiots divided this Land to throw into endless chaos.
Bhai, do you know, Iqbal and Tagore are contemporaries.. It is when Tagore was awarded Nobel Prize for Literature, Iqbal became very jealous and a change happened in Iqbal. Until then Iqbal loved India but after that he was taken over with Muslim Supremacist attitudes and laid the foundation to the idea 'to create a Pakistan for Muslims of Sub-Continent' and also drove Jinnah in that direction.
I just wondered, these are Human Beings, with all their flaws.

Rabindranath Tagore is not only our national figure but also an international figure whose works inspire us and his works are very relevant even in today's generation. His works are the emotions of Indians. He was a polymath who was a poet, writer, painter, musician, lyricist, playwright, composer, dancer, singer and what not!! In Indian schools, every academic year, it has been made mandatory to teach atleast one poem of Rabindranath Tagore. He was a great man.

This was a long poem written by tagore way back, only the first stanza of this poem was adapted as the national anthem of india. Tagore has also written the national anthem of bangladesh "amar shonar bangla"

Tagore did not write the national anthem of Bangladesh. Amar sonar bangla was written as a song for united Bengal and not as a national anthem. That time in 1920 - 1940, Bangladesh did not exist. It was a song and not a national anthem.

Rabindranath has not written some but thousands and thousands. He's life for we bengali people. From dramas, stories, novels, songs n many more.... his writings touches the soul. I wish u cud visit "Santiniketan" established by him... Also he was the first Indian to get Nobel prize for his poetry book collection "Gitanjali". He was the first to rewarded as "Sir" by the british raj.
Rabindranath tagore wrote this whole song but only the first stanza of it is adopted as our national anthem and is normally sung in 52 seconds

"Jana Gana Mana" is the national anthem of India, and Vande Mataram is the national song of India, a Bengali poem written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1870s, which he included in his 1881 novel Anandamath.
Jana gana mana was originally composed as Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata in Bengali by poet Rabindranath Tagore. The first stanza of the song Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata in its Hindi version was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950.
Jana Gana Mana was sung on 27 December 1911 at the Indian National Congress, Calcutta and again in January 1912 at the annual event of the Adi Brahmo Samaj.

Soumyadip Kar Sri Lanka's national anthem was also penned by Tagore: Apa Sri Lanka, Nama Nama Nama Nama Mata, Sundar Sri Boroni was originally Nama Nama Sri Lanka Mata in Bangla, written and set to its tune by Tagore. He did it at the request of his favourite Sri Lankan student at Santiniketan, Ananda Samarkun, in 1938. In 1940, Ananda returned to his native land and translated the song into Sinhalese and recorded it in Tagore's tune.

SANCHIT SACHAN : There are a lot of people I know who have read or heard it,but seldom more than once. I personally heard it at the end of a school varity program. All I remember of it was that it was soooo long. I was bored, & fidgeted a lot & was made to stand still. I was 8 years old. Posting it here on Reaction check is a great service to Indians everywhere, and I'm sure others liked & enjoyed it for the music & the lyrics.

I'm so glad you posted this right away. Almost every Indian will be very happy that you did.
Now, there is some dirt that surfaces any time the full poem finds its way on a public forum. Ive noticed it on other RUclips sites which have posted this video. It is nothing but vile propaganda from the early by extreme right and left wing zelots. What they say is that Rabindranath Tagore and his family were total anglophiles just loved the British. So when it was announced that HM the emperor hisself for goodness sake, was going to visit his prize possession, viz, Hindustan, Tagore allegedly wrote this poem to welcome HM to India, and that Tagore meant all those great prayers in it were addressed to the king. That is total nonsense. Tagore himself denied it. The poem refers to the ruler of people's hearts and minds, another time as the charioter who blows his sacred conch. These references are to Lord Krishn, while other references are to the Godess, probably Durga. So if you get any such responses, either ignore, or delete text. Those people are just spreading malicious lies about one of the greatest Patriots of the 20th century.

Indeed, such elements are still alive in Indian society....they were there in Tagore's time too...Tagore denied the stupid question in his own brilliant sarcastic way "That Lord of Destiny, that Reader of the Collective Mind of India, that Perennial Guide, could never be George V, George VI, or any other George. " (original letter in Bengali)... :)

Can I request a reaction to "Vande Matram, from "Anandmath movie?" it has two versions, male and female. Sung by Lata mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar. P.S.: National song of India is : Vande Matram. Not sure, but I think the short version which is sung in National Anthem, is the officially recognised version maybe.
