- What's the best distortion pedal on the market? Tom Quayle has a look at the new Seymour Duncan PALLADIUM Gain Stage Guitar Effects Pedal to see if it makes the grade. Read the full review in the latest issue of the magazine here. www.iguitarmag....
Maybe the most humble video, without any music or drums in the background. All we want to hear is that raw sound without flourish.
One of the best, most versatile gain pedals I've ever tried. Just sounds gorgeous.
One of the most well done videos I have ever seen - nice job dude
Fantastic demo; thanks for taking the time for such a thoughtful review. I might have been sold if there had been less gain at the lowest gain setting (i.e., if it could provide just a bit of crunch/overdrive, vs. significant distortion). I feel like SD really missed an opportunity there (even if it needed a switch or pull-switch to get to more modest gain territory). -Tom
BTW, amazing what Tom Quayle can really do - a true fine artist indeed.
I need to hear this up against there 5150 MXR OD
Tom Quayle is just amazing. Nice pedal, too!
What power source/amp are you using here? Great video!
Forget the panel. Do a review on that sweet looking guitar of yours!
looks like a PRS ripoff imo but it's nice
Will this be better than EVH 5150 with more range?
Cool guitar. What is it?
Wampler Dracarys can be a similar option or there's not comparison?
What about test in hi gain solo playing? Do you believe anyone will buy it to just play blues?
I love mine but they should have made it so we can use the boost alone and also it needs a noise gate, other then that it's the best EQ ever on a distortion pedal, you can shape your tone from AC-DC to old school metal or new metal to punk rock and just about anything else on distortion.
So instead of scooping the mid, dial UP presence and resonance instead?
That lick from 8:35-8:42. I NEED a tab for that! Lol
Tom Quayle. Your awesome! I mostly watch this channel if you doing some gear or guitar demos.
Have a nice day! 😉
That was literally a perfect demo
Nice!. What amp are you playing through?
sadly they never mention amps in their reviews
What guitar is that?
Sounds like diode clipping.
Fizzy. And gritty.
He's tuned in 4ths. The E7#9, he plays like an E9.
Awesome pedal SD makes fantastic gear Even their one knob pedals are very versatile as far as one knob goes lol 😁Good stuff but probably too much pedal for me
That pedal sounds freakin awesome. I want!
It is analog ?
Does it djent?
stop
Misha Mansoor form Periphery has one of those, so it djents.
Lol, thank God it isn't meant for metal. Only brainless wankers play metal.
WOO HOO, BOOH FUCKIN HOO, LIKE I SAID YOU HAVE NO SENCE OF HUMOR !GET OVER YOURSELF.
How old are you ten? I guess you should go smoke an other bowl of dumbass because that is what you are .You probably cant even play guitar any ways. So come out of your moms basement and see the light. Fuck head..
Great review, but how bout we use pickups that have range and definition for reviewing pedals?
Try Revv g3
Anyone else notice that he has his b string tuned to a C? What's up with that?
Is he Tuned in all fourths? I mean that would make scale patterns really easy... but you lose a lot of the traditional guitar shapes.
He tunes his B and high E up, I think. It allows him to play the guitar in a more intervalic fashion, rather than scalar.
$300 for a distortion pedal? Nice try.
Was thinking the same thing, and quite frankly, the distortion demoed in this video is not that impressive. Certainly not $300 impressive.
What pedal sounds like that for less money? I'm looking to buy, and I was thinking of getting this.
Save your money and buy a good high gain amp. Put an overdrive pedal in front to tighten it up a bit if needed. No distortion pedal will ever sound as good as proper tube driven amp. Your pickups have a lot to say in the matter of distortion as well, as does your cab. Bottom line, it all matters.
I have a good high gain amp. I can't carry it around on my gigs, I need a good pedal to be my tone in a box for a live show on the fly.
Nikos Tsakas Jr. Try out shit for yourself man. Do NOT buy due to online reviews or especially comments. Youll most likely get burned.
great demo.
Tom Quayle is the best, but I don't like when people demo a pedal and their "clean" tone it's already kind of dirty, doesn't seem fair to me.
true bypass?
sounds grainy where's the tube sound?
OMG gotta have this !!!
Fantastic, thanks!!
I wish I could play like you
I better save up for a good amp instead of paying that crazy amout of money for this one.
I think I'm going to get the MXR EVH 5150 Overdrive instead, which is like half the price of this one and still rocks low and high gains like a pro.
I was considering buying a good amp instead too, but this Palladium makes my cheap old 50-watt pawn shop amp sound amazing. Extremely versatile - everything from 60's psychedelia to death metal.
Or get it used for $100 cheaper 🤷🏽♂️
True Too much pedal for me I like my amp to do most of the work They have some killer simpler pedals that would work better for me
I like the sweet tea better even though it is pricier.
I want one. 😎
Meh sounds a bit fuzzy and thin... I’d prefer the EVH distortion over this to be honest
This pedal is the exact opposite of fuzzy and thin.
Got nothing on the wompler dracarys.
F I B E N A R E
Damn I love it. Just bought one today and can't wait to try it out but at midnight I know I'm going to piss off the neighbor. Oh well.
I still think the Goosoniqueworx 7thvn has the edge. Its less complicated, but sounds more convincing.
that pedal sounds like an early ds1 thru a mxr...eq....its trebly......USE A. PROCO RAT!!!!!!
Very thin sounding compared to he Empress Heavy.
it sounded great to me
Squishy-scratchy high end. Not so sure about that.
Fantastic playing........below average product considering it's comp(amp tweaker,wampler,true-tone,mxr,electro harmonix,pigtronix)
Theta, Xotic, Mojomojo and the list goes on.....
I like it..
Its only the best if its affordable. As this is ridiculously priced and a massive rip off then it is not the best pedal. It is a good sounding rip off pedal.
Why does Tom always swing his arm? lmao
Tom is not metal guy, defenetly!
I NEED THAT GUITAR.... HAHAH
porra, falou demais e tocou de menos
I played it and was very impressed... in five minutes it broke.
Wampler deluxe plexidrive #1,#2 Tom quayle model,
I had one - sounds like shit! Equalizer absolutely unusable! Extremely high power usage - over 250ma on 9v, and bigger on 18v - fuck!
I hate this pedal
11 min vid ... with 9mins of jawing , that really short short short non existent play time from your guitar I give this pedal a 👎👎👎
Mmm ...no.
Kick ass send me one for free
To me, nothing beats the Ibanez Tube Screamer SD9 Sonic Distortion Modded.
Interesting pedal, but I like his playing more then the pedal
Definitely not the best pedal. Buy a golden brownie.
I am a big fan of Tom, and he can make anything sound good, but this pedal sounds awful. Way too harsh, grainy, scooped, digital sounding. There are much better options at and below this price point (Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe, Suhr Riot, Friedman BE OD, JHS AT, etc.)
Shut up and play, just shoot the parameters set and go....
Settle down Beavis
maybe its just because i hear your voice with my studio monitors, but pls cut out some treble, ur voice cuts my ears!
