I wish it was answered with more thought instead of a defensive brushing off that the lyrics when literally translated are crass. The article Anupama was referring to was written by a native Hydrabadi. I am sure the journalist was not writing such an article based on English subtitles of Telugu songs. The songs aside, we all know the reason so many north Indian actresses make it big in Telugu industry without knowing the language is because their roles are limited to song and dance. It is changing with actresses like Sai Pallavi looking for meatier roles but these roles are rare. I hope the question atleast makes them think post this interview and introspect a little.
Kinda disagree about the heroines part. The most successful actress who are remembered for their craft such as anushka, nitya menen, sai pallavi etc are not your traditional bombay heroine as they. The amount of actresses we have had from malyalam from nitya, priyanka, priyamani, madonna etc in the last decade is incredible. Anushka, pooja hegde and rashmika are A listers in telugu from karnataka. Sam, shruti hassan, trisha and nayantara from kollywood made it big and are big. The only true north indians who did make it big were kajal and taapsee but then they have merit as well. The biggest heroines of the last 15 years have been from different places which is great.

Telugu movie songs unless proven otherwise have these ingredients 1.heroine mostly non Telugu, doesn't understand telugu atleast for few years , doesn't understand lines given to her is exploited by giving lines which will make any decent person cringe 2.most heroes are fully clothed and most heroines are clad in the skimpiest clithes in songs 3. Most heroes are happy with self praising, bragging about themselves songs atleast 1 or 2 4.1 raunchy number mixed with double meaning lines , talking about their family,s virility, maculinity etc 5. Songs mostly dominated by rythm,beat and less meaning in to the lines.. only .. Tune matters.. Harsh ,bitter truth in most films...

Hear it from me I am a telugite. The lyrics of some Telugu songs , the storyline of those movies are horrific. If someday had a leg fetish like allu Arjun in avpl I would have been creeped out to the max level. The portrayal of woman even in movies like pushpa etc is terrible and it's high time leading actors like these stop defending that nonsense.

1.heroine mostly non Telugu, doesn't understand telugu atleast for few years , doesn't understand lines given to her is exploited by giving lines which will make any decent person cringe

3. Most heroes are happy with self praising, bragging about themselves songs atleast 1 or 2

He’s justifying his love for those movies. His language in Bangarraju is so offensive to women. I want him to break down Bangarraju to Anupama and other women. Chay seems to be a kid forced into working with his father. I don’t think even Chay watches these Bangarraju type of movies. Nag might think single theater movies will elevate their stardom but his sons don’t suit these movies. They will be successful when they do work they enjoy and connect with.

Old movies were more balanced compared to the new trend..the trend of alpha male heroes with bimbette heroines. Wonder when this trend will change. Anupama beware of film companion south editor baradwaj rangan, he wants to make it only tamil/malayalam based channel. We are expecting telugu actors roundtable and telugu directors roundtable soon. The FCS guys announced telugu interns but they reportedly don't respond to the mails. Telugu cinema should be represented fairly well, please anupama take this as a alarm. Rangan just wants to promote tamil and malayalam content

Naming a channel as south, should include fair amount of all industrial content.
