As a first time mom this video is heaven sent. I just started to figure out about the express and let down settings on my own but I didn't figure out how many cycles they were until I watched this video! Thank you so much!!!
Baby is 3 weeks and been having a hard time. I thought I knew everything. But this just helped tremendously! I started the video at the start of my pump session just now. Big difference. I haven't been able to latch baby in a 2 weeks because of mastitis & just bad pain & a bad latch.
This video was SO helpful. Thank you so much for posting this!! You explain everything so clearly. As a new mom, breastfeeding and pumping is very intimidating but this video made me feel a lot more comfortable with using the pump. thank you thank you thank you!!!
Omg!! I’ve been using my pump all wrong!!😭 I’m 6 week postpartum and having to bring my supply back up after baby girl had a lip/tongue tie. Finally got the procedure done and we are working our way back to EBF!!💗
Thank you so much for the video!! Yes the manual did not explain things very well. 😭 And I didn't realize there were different breast shield sizes until now - no wonder it looked wrong! Thank you for your detailed explanation of EVERYTHING for the S2!! ❤️
Incredible video. 3 days postpartum. Got spectra 2 as a hand me down and had no idea how to operate it. I gotta get smaller flanges then I'll be in business
I just got my spectra today and your video was so easy to follow along and get mine set up …love this pump can’t wait for my baby girl to get here so I can start it up lol 😊
I'm really glad I found this video... today is day 2 of me using this Spectra S2 pump (it's my work pump) because at home I use the Medela Freestyle Flex. I was using the pump backwards because I just read the manual and it just says to hit the wave button... so I used it backwards. The Medela Freestyle Flex does the whole letdown setting thing by itself. With that said, I do like the Spectra S2 pump because I feel like it empties me well (even using it backwards! lol)
Thank you so much for this video!! This is my third baby and I’m just now realizing I’ve been pumping wrong this entire time!!! I’m using your strategies and have already seen a better response during my sessions. THANK YOU!!!!
Omg thank you so much for this video I read the instructions and I was getting frustrated as a FTM everything is so new and this made my life so much easier!!
Thank you so much, this was such a great review: calm, systematic, covered all the important things, demo'd and pointed out all the pertinent info. I appreciate it!!!
@@KassiReyes I'm haven't gotten mine yet (since i haven't delivered yet lol) and I was trying to decide between Medela vs Spectra. Your breakdown was helpful!

There is so much going on at the end of your pregnancy to get ready for baby, I am sure your breast pump wasn't on the forefront of your mind. I am glad you found the video and it saved you some time and frustration. How are things going?
Thank you for the crash course on this pump, btw, great video! Another question: do you wash the backflow shield? The manual says “everything that touches the breast and/or milk, and I wasn’t sure if that backflow protector touches the milk
Who’s that girl at 2:53? Bring some more of her out! We appreciate the humor!!😂 My lady and I have been drinking from a fire house for the last 6 days. No sleep and waiting on our milk supply to come in while our little girl sings to the neighbors at a Whitney Houston pitch from 9PM till 4 AM. The pizza guy doesn’t want to deliver to us anymore because I’ve asked him to take our trash out every time he delivers. 😂 Needless to say we are feeling the feels but loving our new little girl and loving all of this every step of the way. Especially each other. Thank you!

Sounds like you have one blessed little girl!! Congratulations.
Well my baby just turned a month today got my pump day I got home from hospital. Read manual since this is my 1st time pumping. I've been doing it wrong. When turn pump on I have set to 50 when I see milk coming is when I push the other button thats on 70 and been doing that whole time. Thanks to this video next pump I can do it right the manual made it sound like the way I was doing it was right. I've been getting about 3 to 4 oz every time I pump. Excited to see how much now that I know how to properly use it. Least I only did it wrong for a month. Probably should have watched a video right away not just read manual.
WHYYYYYYY?!?!? I've bee pumping backwards for over a month now! Why would they design their machine this way and not even mention it in the manual 🤦🏽♀️

Thank you so much for this. I have 6 valves that are all different sizes. What are the differences?
Of course! By valves I think you are probably referring to the flange...the part that goes over your nipple? You want to chose a size that lets your nipple move freely without rubbing on the sides, it shouldn’t be so big that it allows more than a little of your areola to pull in to the chamber either. Some women need a different size for each side and that’s ok 👍🏽

Very helpful! Thank you
First time using this breast pump. And I just want to know when I’m cleaning products and boiling them for the first time do I also clean and boil the tubing. The manual says sanitize the breast shield kit in boiling water for no more than 5 minutes
You don't have to wash or sterilize the tubing, no milk should get in to the tubing, and any moisture from washing them could cause them to mold
Do you sterilize the backflow protector?
I was wondering if I need to pull the duckbills off after each use or if I can just leave them attached while washing the flange part?
Great questions, yes, pull them off for cleaning as milk gets trapped in there too.
What do the cycle numbers mean?
What is the recommended speed and level? What’s the difference between stimulation and let down?
Hi Marisol :) In the video I give the settings that I recommend starting with, always based on your comfort of course. The stimulation and "let down" phase is the same thing. This refers to the initial 1-2 minutes of quick gentle pumping to stimulate the milk to let down. The expression phase is a little stronger and slower and draws the milk out.
Can someone explain to me what the cycle means?
What is the cycle function for? Thank you
The cycle function changes the suction pattern (not intensity), for example a cycle of 54 is slower and a bit longer pull than a cycle of 72, which is quick and tends to be used to induce a let down. Hope that helps! What settings are you finding work best for you?
Thank you!!!!!!
