Nice way to make a customer happy and have yourself a dirt dump pit on the sly. I wouldn't bother moving those rocks that are going to be deep below grade though, save the equipment.
better to left big rocks like that .. dig abit of a hole roll it into it.. pick it up without the thumb.. put that thumb away and just use the bucket itself.. much easier for handling those big rock... i do it without the thumb never had one before .. easier for larger rocks..imo.. good luck chris
Maybe I missed something. I'd have knocked down the trees, removed all the debris, dealt with the water pipe and covered it over. After that, I'd push the boulders down to the bottom, keeping them off the pipe. This to avoid beating the heck out of the excavator thumb.600 trucks is what I figured at 15 yards a truck. X 1 hr return? trip. 90$ hr = 54K$ ish. Let alone drainpipe, excavator loading and maybe Bobcat or small dozer to grade it out. 5 min a truck to load + 50 hrs for the excavator. Add 10% for contingencies.Just guessing.
So this will work more or less as a dump site for a different/new project thats coming in the future right? And is there a reson why you use your "privat" excavator... or is this project not related to your "normal" job? (Sorry if i might be a bit too nosy, just trying to understand whats goin on) Greetings
I understand that you don't want big rocks in a horse pasture. does he want landscape decorations? seems easier for gravity to put it in the bottom of the wash. but I'm not there doing the project. reasons for everything 😃
Give it a rest !!! You mean to tell me you think that bit of work trying to get a hold on that rock was that much worse than dragging the bucket through 400 feet of earth to dig a trench ?????
You sure wasted a lot of time trying to pick up that rock, which was always going to be too big for your bucket. You should have just rolled it into place from the start.
I got bored and looked away, then back again around minute 7 to see you finally got that big sucker in a bite. Now quit screwing around and get to work!
I love your chanel, I would love to be able to master the excavator like you do but, you suck at handling rock! I think you guys down there have been spoiled with too much beautiful no rock dirt. Them rocks can be a problem! LOL
In 10,000 years, they'll dig up that rock & earnest scientists will spend decades attempting to decipher the scratches cut in it...
Shades of what is to come, the Vet complex. :) Thank you.
Now that was persistence! That rock was kicking your butt! Good job
great video, wrangling those big rocks, you didn't give up til it was moved..
Very big rocks Chris, cutting trees, clearing brush, nice job Chris with the Link-Belt excavator, looking good Letsdig18 👍👌✌😊
Your determination paid of C.G. it looks like you won the battle with that rock.
That's a really good rig to pick that rock up and around like that
Love your videos.

Watching you mess with that boulder, was like watching someone playing that claw game lol
Been a while, I forgot how rickety the bucket sounded on that Link-belt.

I had a pet monkey once. This reminds me of the day it found a football.

Hey @volvo send chris a new 250 so he doesn't have to use this hand me down link belt
That rock you were playing with probably weighs 18000lbs
That's them big old hard rocks!
what a big rock!
Nice new machine, the thumb sucks is often in the way, hydraulic is the only way to go,just as strong

Good video
do you charge by the hour?
Gotta love boulders. Was also wondering about the rocks and if the owner is using them for accent or if they'll just be fill when you start hauling.
unfortunately yes he wants them lol
@@letsdig18 hey chris im sorry for bugging you i was a huge fan of your channel

appears to be a side job if i had to guess
I imagine the language inside the cab was for mature audiences only while you were wrestling that rock around
Another grate video thank you. where is all the dirt coming from to fill the hole in is it from another job your doing?
yeah i have a 2 acre site job
Why try to bucket that rock when you could just walk it back(roll it) with the excavator?
You forgot to give the rock a few good smacks with the counter weight!
haha man when i was in the bottom i was very cautious not to lol
I almost wish we had rocks down here in the south...... almost it would be nice for landscaping
Just goes to show that a hydrolic thumb is worth its weight in gold.
That big rock was giving you a hell of a time, stupid rock lol
do you buy your machines with the thumbs or do you put them on your self?
most of the time they come with them
That's how you break the thumb off lifting to big of rock
I understand that you don't want big rocks in a horse pasture. does he want landscape decorations? seems easier for gravity to put it in the bottom of the wash. but I'm not there doing the project. reasons for everything 😃
it would be easy to let it roll to the bottom, but i have to run a 18" pipe down at the bottom and dont want that massive thing in the way down there
Are they using the boulders for accents, or just getting tossed in a BFH and used as back fill?
oh ive been putting rocks everywhere out there once he saw them LOL
letsdig18
Yea, I work them in a lot, but on a MUCH smaller scale, I've got a kubota K008-3. ;-)
Geoff Garvis
Surface scratches are ok, you can generally clean them up, just don't knock chunks out.
That Horse Guy has more money than sense...
yeah for sure the money spent on dirt work could buy semi loads of hay for years
Dave Schuetrum Horse Sense? .
I haven't met one of "them" WITH sense !
me and a guy i work for are building a pond and the dam is 140 ft across
U need a 3400 link belt with rock bucket and get the grease gun out for those bucket pins,, and cat d7 dozer pushing those rocks lol
I could see you were wishing for your hydraulic thumb pretty bad.
I was the 300th like
If you didn't have that bloody thumb on it you would be able to scoop under it but ai oo good vids buddy
Left...... no little more....now curl no no left up down now gently ..... ohhh
needed the backhoe
I know but Chris has me swamped making his☻
***** LOL
And THAT ladies and gents is why you never, and I mean never, buy a machine with a mechanical thumb !!!
Chris that's what I call a sex stone a F###### rock.
nice demo of how to tear up a bucket, teeth and a thumb.
Give it a rest !!! You mean to tell me you think that bit of work trying to get a hold on that rock was that much worse than dragging the bucket through 400 feet of earth to dig a trench ?????
2,minutes into the rock battle you could probably hear me cussing in the cab
Could have titled it rocking out in a Link Belt.
That makes me grit my teeth listening to that poor LB manhandle that rock. You still need a dozer in there do bat them around once you get them loose.
couldn you just dig a hole and bury them since your goina fill it up anyways
big rocks hard on equipment. You need a dozer to help you.
You sure wasted a lot of time trying to pick up that rock, which was always going to be too big for your bucket. You should have just rolled it into place from the start.

i was trying to be easy and not wear my thumb tines down LOL
@@letsdig18 That is what 7018 is for...... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
hi digger you have no chance of lifting them big bolders pal no chance...?lol.
sorry mate your machine surprised me when it got a grip just shows the power and the grip it takesand the experienced operator (you) your the man....
5-6k all day long
Seemed like a lot of wasted motion rat ther
could you justify a hydraulic thumb chris? I mean all the other excavators do why not treat your own to one?
lol hey you never know get a craigslist special
Why do t you just get a rock hammer and break them into smaller pieces
kinda hard to justify spending 2 grand to break up 2 rocks i could just bury huh?
ever run a excavator befor?
and then God created the DOZER!!! ;-)
CAT POWER OR BUST! no he didn't cat did
shane d HAHA AMEN!!
You really need a hydrlical thumb
GrowItRice 11404 It's not a production machine it's a conviniance machine that would be expensive I'm sure
wow I haven't touched a backhoe in decades have you ?
Digging powder
thats a job for a cat 6015 b cat

Baa7s,,,.,,
Those "sex stones" are a "pain in the ass"!
....13
That's some big horseshit
big horses
way too many wasted moves
U are one of the worst operators I have ever seen. No tactic and no logic.
