  • The Suzuki V-Strom SX is promising to be an ADV, but one look at its brochure and you won’t be left all that convinced. The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is completely the opposite of that, but in its quest to offer you off-road fun, it’s not the most practical on-road motorcycle. So, which motorcycle is able to achieve the best balance between the two? We find out in this video.

    One thing people dont talk about enough about the v storm is the OEM quality. DID chain, Enkei rims, Panasonic rad fan, seamless welding, wont find these things often in this price range

    I have a Scram 411 and have taken it on cross-country rides across India. The bike is versatile when it comes to highway touring and takes on off-road trails like a champ. The low-end torque is its weapon on off-roads and city traffic.
    I think what RE has done brilliantly is that they have taken a purpose-built ADV like Himalayan and make it street friendly.
    I honestly felt that the Suzuku V-Strom, brilliant as it may be, falls short in that department. Again, just my humble opinion.
    PS: The tube tyres are a blessing when off-roading but a curse when there's a flat. I wish RE had a tubeless spoked-rim as an option.

    V Storm SX is a 75% on road and 25% off road bike.
    Its sole purpose is "touring touring and touring".Its perfect for the Indian road conditions where you get some bad patches on inner village roads and good roads on state and national highways.
    I don't know why people always compare it with off roading,it is not made for that.
    Its perfect for city rides as well with good gear ratios.
    Love the V Strom Sx ❤

    VStrom 250 always..............the only missing point is the front suspension travel...... if it had atleast 170 mm of Travel, then it would be a perfect ADV.....

    V-Strom if you're buying for practicality and with your mind. Scram if you're buying with your heart. The V-Strom may not be cool like the RE, but it'll never break and it will do absolutely everything you ask of it.

    Excellent and Honest Comparison, Thanks for calling a spade, a spade. Most reviewers have a strong RE bias.
    You have clearly shown that Suspension travel alone does not help, VStrom SX has a sophisticated, well tuned suspension with excellent damping and rebound. Thats why it does not bottom out even during jumps, despite having 70mm lesser travel than the "Scram".
    And chassis and front end feel is excellent both on and off road in the V-Strom, it is a gem of a bike and true ADV.

    I’m surprised the scram 411 is cheaper than the SX in India. Here in NZ the scram is $8500 and the SX is $6900. Also as the 450 Himalayan is just about to arrive the 411 platform will probably shortly be killed off, so you’re likely buying an obsolete bike! 🤷‍♂️

      Rumour is that RE will be releasing a 440 scram in the next few months, prior to the release of the water cooled 450 Himalayan.
      Update: It seems the Himalayan 450 will come first.

    As a new V-Strom owner, let me tell you this - Please don't consider this an off roader. At best, it's what I call a sh*t-roader(it does well on sh*t roads). So keep it on tarmac and change the tires to more road-based 19 and 17 inch tires for better performance and efficiency once the original fits run out.

    • @paulbiswas
      @paulbiswas Год назад +7

      As you say, "new owner of V-Strom." Take it to the offroads first, then only you will come to what and how much this bike is capable of.
      A pure off roader doesn't perform well on roads, A pure road bike doesn't perform well on off roads.
      V strom strikes a perfect balance between road and off road performance. Most people buy it for this reason.
      My V strom has done 10000 kms. Just completed Spiti circuit from Kolkata (4800 kms).
      If you wanted extreme off road performance, maybe your choice of buying this bike was wrong in the first place.

    • @Antony_Shamarjit_Lee
      @Antony_Shamarjit_Lee Год назад +4

      @@er.m.s8930 Both cruisers: Meteor and Super Meteor came with alloy wheels by default.
      Continental GT & Interceptor are now available with Alloy wheels as well.
      Many people prefer the spoke wheels because of the pure classic-retro look. Hence RE give the options. I don't see any problem in that.
      (About cost: which motorcycle is not costly in India nowadays? Even 150 cc ones cross 1.5 lakhs mark.)
