Great videos: Detailled and crystal clear. Thanks to these I was able to ressussitate a 1977 Evinrude 4 HP that was otherwise heading for the scrapyard..
For anyone looking in the future, it's in the video "1975 & 1977 Johnson / Evinrude 4 HP Inspection" ruclips.net/video/BVF-Rno42dA/видео.html at around 17 mins in
I have a mid 80's evinrude 4hp and there is no air cleaner or filter...should there be ? This is my 1st outboard experience....btw...no lower engine cover either
looking at the carb (opposite side that bolts to the engine), why would gas be coming out of the top right hole? I had this issue arise so I replaced the needle/seat, float and gaskets. motor ran good for approx. 14 hrs of travel over multiple days and then after less then an hour of running one morning it came back. what to look for next? thanks.
Junk/particles in gas tank clogging up the seat? It shouldn't happen, the float valve should cut off gas flow into the carb, it isn't, and the carb is just filling up. I suppose you could clean the float shaft and mounting holes up a bit, perhaps corrosion there would prevent it from closing? Or the shaft is bent. I don't know, but good chance your problem is with the float/seat.
@@BrandonsGarage looks like I have another project to add to the list. Ill give that a look though. Did anything more ever happen with that 1975 Johnson 4hp powerhead teardown project? did you ever do a rebuild video?
Rebuilt, the carb on my 71 yachtwin. Checked the reed plate. I see sparks from both plugs out on the engine during cranking, but motor still won't start. Help?
Replaced the two ignition capacitors / condensers. Engine now starts. Need to replace the high speed needle valve and packing gland nut. Internal threads are messed up.
Brandon's Garage Been working on a 1980 4hp evinrude. I don't think my problem is with the fuel line ..rebuild the carburetor but still dies when I throttle up .. idle fine.. i don't know whats wrong

This carb is exactly like the carb on my Evinrude 2!
I really appreciate your video on replace the vro to regular fuel pump I just did mine over the weekend it works perfectly thanks 👍😁
I wish as you put everything back together you would explain what part you are installing. Thanks
The high and low speed needle nuts….how tight do you make them?
Do you know what the initial settings are for the high and low speed on a 1977 Johnson 4 hp seahorse
What was your carburetor rebuild kit number for this particular engine
Where can i find carburator kit repair
Many thanks
the video starts with the carburetor off, do you have one where you are taking it off? went through the 3 previous ones and didn't see it

Set the float correctly?
Top plug wire isnt on the bottom cylinder?
Brandon's Garage double checked the float after watching your video. It's pretty level. The plug wire marked up is attached to the top spark plug

Can you increase hp by swapping to a larger carb? 4hp to a 6hp?
Linkage doesn't matter much to me, also why not a Mikuni type using an adapter?
Pistons are larger on the 6 hp
Do you answer questions?
I try to
I have no fuel filling the float bowl so I have ordered a new float needle, spring and seat ,now can I tell if my gloat is upside down?
What size fuel line do you have on there?
going to the fuel pump, or from fuel pump to carb?

And fuel is reaching the carb.
