- The New Orleans Pelicans still don't have a starting center and that basically means they have to trade Brandon Ingram to get one. Jake Madison explains why the Pels are sitting out Free Agency so far as they work on finding a trade partner for Brandon Ingram. Start Missi, keep BI, and sign a couple cheap free agent centers as back ups. Or dump CJ for money purposes, trade him for picks and a backup center. But the pels have roster spots, so might as well just sign someone.

The key to getting a starting center is to start the one that was just drafted. And not trading BI at all. It is extremely possible for Missi to be successful as a starter. Herb, Zion, Bi were all starters in their rookie year. Wemby was a starting center last year, it happens all the time with incredible success. Have faith in the kid, and roll with the talent that is already on the team. Murray and Missi completely change the look of the starting squad. With BI, Zion, and Herb/TM3 I think the Pels would be even better than the 49 win team they were last year.

I’ve been saying this. Missi has the potential to become a Giannis Type of force. Add 15 lbs of muscle and he has the exact same build. His athleticism and foot work is incredible for his size. Derrick Lively proved that a starting rookie center is very possible and Missi is more than capable. + Murray, Zion,BI, Murphy, CJ, Herb, Hawk, GTA, Matt Ryan. That’s a Killer roster. The biggest negative is we Lost Naji. Not the most skilled but will offset that with his effort and made huge improvements last year
I still believe we should have kept Willy last year. But we signed Cody Zeller, so to put it plainly I don’t trust the pelicans eye for talent at the center position. I have zero confidence that we could let Valanciunas walk and somehow end up with a better player. So now at this point I just want a player who isn’t on his last leg. Trading Brandon Ingram after he averaged the lowest points average since his rookie year is almost guaranteed to not get the max value for him. The urgency to trade BI should have been the year where he was averaging 24 had the pelicans in the playoffs. That’s when we should have traded him, but now??? It makes no sense, he’s not looked at as a superstar player even tho he’s still the same player who averaged 24 a season ago. BI IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN JARRETT ALLEN. If we make that trade I assure you Cleveland would be top 5 seed. And if(when) Zion gets hurt, we will look foolish af when we are struggling to make the play in AGAIN…
Jake Madison has a personal vendetta against Brandon Ingram. And it’s becoming hard to ignore.
Because he doesn’t fit on this team and a starting center is more important the pels are about to extend Trey Murphy and he’s gonna be making starter money Trey can take Ingram’s spot it’s not about players it’s about the team and what’s best for the team idc who goes as long as this team my favorite team is closer to winning a championship

If teams are unwilling to value Brandon Ingram at $200 mil, what’s the urgency to trade him or award him an extension?

Well Washington could have sent a player, draft picks or money, the pelicans wanted money back so Washington gave up the bulls second round pick and 9 million in cash if they didn’t send the draft pick well they had to send a player or cash they also did a sign and trade for Cody to Atalanta with the Murray deal seems like they want to be under cap which is why they keep freeing up money

I'm still looking and waiting for that upgrade of JV at Center. There were only a handful of centers that played better than Jonas, and all of them were All-stars.
Don't double down on a bad decision by trading BI for less, just to fill the gap.
In reality it should be easier to trade CJ than BI. CJ has all of the advantages that BI doesn't. CJ is more willing to shoot the trey, and CJ has a longer, de-escalating contract than Brandon. He's not a short term rental. I would trade CJ for Ben Simmons in a heartbeat!
Question---what happens if somehow some team loses it's first round pick (penalty, etc.) and the Bulls seconds round pick happens to be pick #30. Do the Pels in that situation get that pick since it is protected 31-50??
No second rounders won't move up in draft order. Say 30 was forfeited, it won't adjust the numerical order

From what it looks like is the Pels are gone to have hard time trying to trade BI some teams don’t want to be over the tax apron which BI would put them over and others that are tanking don’t want BI simply their looking for higher draft picks and I wonder how signing Danial Theis will play in to things
Unfortunately I do think we will trade BI fro a starting center. It might not be till the trade deadline though. If you look at CLE it seems like they want to see how the coaching change works before moving off of Allen. I don’t see another starting center we want in a package for BI currently available for trade. We could use a trade exception to get a cheaper 5 then make a bigger move at the deadline

This is too much money for someone who will be the 3rd option and was benched at the end of games by MN in the playoffs

Trade BI to the Trailblazers and get Ayton, Death and Murray. The west have too many large centers. We don't need undersize center.
Pels may have waited too long to acquire a center. Now they need to trade for a center, and other teams will try and take advantage of the situation.
What center were you expecting them to get in FA ?
It's not that they had to sign a FA center, it's that they let their FA options dwindle and now having to try and trade for a viable center.
Drummond, Goga, Bamba, and Plumlee have starting experience.

Are you joking about this traded player exception? There is no way we take back more salary in any BI deal than we have to. If anything they probably want to take back less salary so that they have more room to extend a few of our own guys. I well bet money this TPE never gets used.

So with that player exception.....the Pels could trade TMIII and Hawkins for Jarret Allen. I love Trey...but his tip top ceiling is still beneath BI's floor. Trey is only two years younger than BI and hasn't even sniffed an all-star or Team USA.
