Since no one answered your question; your "duet" in the beginning worked very well at comparing the two keyboard's piano sounds. Much easier than listening to an entire piece and then trying to remember what it sounded like 3 or 4 minutes later when you are playing on the other keyboard. What is even more interesting is to push the video off the screen and then just listen to the music so you aren't seeing which keyboard is playing, so your eyes aren't affecting your judgement of the sound.
Nice review. If you could do another Nord/Kawai comparison, I’d be curious to see a review of the Nord Grand Stage and the MP7SE. As they both share the same Kawai action, it would be interesting to hear how the same action responds differently on both stage pianos.
I am fortunate to have a Kawai Mp7 and I have no regrets. The feeling it gives when playing is unique. By far one of the best pianos I have ever tried.
I would recommend trying out the virtual piano Synchron Yamaha CFX from Vienna Symphonic Library. It's my favourite, and will work with any digital piano that can function as a midi-controller connected to a computer and a good audio interface. Would be interesting to hear what you think. They have a Steinway and Blüthner instrument as well, but I haven't tried them. And they might not be against sending you a review copy.
The Nord's piano sound in the early part sounded muffled compared to the Kawai when playing the same part, it was a more natural acoustic tone on the MP11SE.
Another great review. My only concern is that many Nord players have had issues with quality control; including buttons that stick. I think this is unacceptable for a keyboard of that price.
I have found quality control on Nord keyboards to be lacking as well. I have had many people ask me to review other Nords, but since I must buy all keyboards with my own money it does seem like a wise investment.
The Kawai can replace an actual piano, the Nord is a gigging instrument designed to fulfill many functions (organs, pianos strings, synths). Both are the same price but it doesn't mean they are comparable. I would like to have both.
Thanks for the great review! A comparison of the Nord Stage with the Kawai MP7 would be interesting. Although the MP11 has a more natural keybed than the MP7, the MP7 still has a superb keybed that I believe is also used in the Nord Grand. Also the MP7 scores better than the MP11 when it comes to number of sounds (e.g. it has organ sounds) and weight (much lighter). Have you tried it?
The Kawaii I think sounds a little more authentic. The tones are distributed a little more evenly. Of coarse the Nord still sounds very nice. I would buy either one.
recently I sold my FP-90 to buy a mp11se. I was really surprised how easy it was to sell this piano. Although the mp11 receives good reviews it seems harder to sell. Imo its a factor most reviewers seem to forget.
I recently tried Nord Piano and Grand Piano. Absolutely not worth the money, I was so disappointed. I really don't like the bass sound including in this recording. I need to find an MP11SE to try.
Your marimba demo at 32 minutes, demonstrates part of the reason why I have a Kawai; it is too easy to have something happen that you don't expect and can't sort.
I prefer the mp11 because of more realistic tone on acoustic and Rhodes. The Korg is just a little bit less. Both are excellent. If price is no concern, mp11 wins, otherwise Korg will do nicely especially because it is more portable. Thanks for the demo 👍.
Hi James - really enjoying your enthusiasm in your videos! It’s great to see a young person such as yourself get so excited about keyboard instruments of all ages and types! Have you ever played a Knabe? I grew up with a Knabe parlor grand, and the action was unbeatable!
Thanks so much, James, for your fantastic comparison/review of the MP11SE and Nord Stage 3. I'm basically interested in buying a new MP11SE for extensive practicing at home...in a NYC apartment. I'd like to know exactly what's included..."out-of-the-box"...with a new MP11. You said that it automatically comes with a 3-pedal unit and a music stand. But what about a stand for the keyboard itself, i.e., a digital keyboard stand or "legs" to make the keyboard useable (like a real piano) in the first place! And also, does it come with headphones for privacy when practicing? I definitely need headphones for practicing & privacy at night. >>> Does the MP11SE require a separate amplifier/speaker system, or does it come with a built-in speaker system of its own??? >>> And finally, I know it obviously doesn't come with a separate "piano bench". But that's okay since I already have my own piano bench.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the jupiter 80! Alot of people kinda look over it but I think it has a nice piano sound (along with abunch of other sounds).
Do you think that the MP11SE and the VPC1 are similar when it comes to action only? I heard the MP11SE GF is even a little bit more realistic than the RM3 because og the length of the keys? I try to get the best out of action, even if I look for a controller only.
I think many of us are waiting for a review of the Kawai MP 7 / MP 7 SE. To many, the weight, the little amount of sounds of the MP11SE, price, it makes us less interesting
You have introduced more bass on both pianos. The Nord's bass is too deep destroying any similarity with a piano though the mid-range is very realistic! Sorry I have to go with the Kawai.
Is your nord loaded with the XL (or even L) piano samples? As I understand it, nord cuts data from the extremities (treble and bass) with their smaller sample sets. Though I'm not sure if Kawai gives users the option of S/M/L samples. That might account for the less 'rich' sounds in the Nords treble and bass notes??
The kawai stands out for me. The tone color is better. And you didn’t even talked about your problems with it. (See comparison between north 3 and grand for that) I am still doubting between the kawai and the Roland 2000 but the kawai got a lot goods. Thank you for sharing.

Really nice comparison. You do great work, keep it up. I like the Kawai.
The Nord has a good sound but kawai is amazing and more realistic
You, sir, are such a nice guy and such a good player. Thanks for doing these videos.
Nord Grand vs. MP11SE?

The kawai is much cleaner, on every sample u played. The kawai, is just better, in my opinion. Thanks keep it up
Action review: 14:53
The Nord's piano sound in the early part sounded muffled compared to the Kawai when playing the same part, it was a more natural acoustic tone on the MP11SE.
Wah man, you are very good at reviewing.? Thank you very much to share with us your passion and so much time to compare products.
I would love to see a review of the Nord Grand, which has Kawai piano action.

Nice review, but would really love to see a similar match-up between the MP11SE and the Nord Grand. More apples to apples.
Thanks for the great review! A comparison of the Nord Stage with the Kawai MP7 would be interesting. Maybe you should test the Nord Grand, which uses a Kawai (plastic, not wooden) keyboard. I think it sounds better than Nord Stage 3.
when you start playing that second piece at the beginning I wish it not to end.!
I believe the piece is Erik Satie's Gnossienne Numero 1
The Kawaii I think sounds a little more authentic. The tones are distributed a little more evenly. Of coarse the Nord still sounds very nice. I would buy either one.
recently I sold my FP-90 to buy a mp11se. I was really surprised how easy it was to sell this piano. Although the mp11 receives good reviews it seems harder to sell. Imo its a factor most reviewers seem to forget.
Also costs about $250+ to ship the mp11. Another consideration.
what is the name of piece played at 3:50 on both pianos?
Erik Satie. Gnosienne nº1
The Nord sounds very thin in comparison. The Kawai has a more complete sound.
I recently tried Nord Piano and Grand Piano. Absolutely not worth the money, I was so disappointed. I really don't like the bass sound including in this recording. I need to find an MP11SE to try.

like your Manzarek transcription.
The Kawai beats the Nord hands down.

It doesn’t have a built in speaker and doesn’t come with a stand. No headphones either😂

How can I get your sheet music for your test piece you do in all your videos
When I finish it :P
@@ThePianoforever ill be the first in line to buy it lol. Just ordered a Kawai mp11se. Been watching your reviews. Thank you for what you do.
what is the name of the piece that you play and switch between the pianos - I love that haunting tune
Would love to hear your thoughts on the jupiter 80! Alot of people kinda look over it but I think it has a nice piano sound (along with abunch of other sounds).
I have been loving your reviews. Is there a review of Nord Piano 4 in the future?
From an listening perspective, Nord wins for me, sounds more natural to my ears

I think the Nord wins the sound. IMO
Does the kawai mp7se feel different to the mp11se?
I think many of us are waiting for a review of the

Hey James, if you could PLEASE test and review every single piano in Lounge 88 at NAMM, that would be great.
You have introduced more bass on both pianos. The Nord's bass is too deep destroying any similarity with a piano though the mid-range is very realistic! Sorry I have to go with the Kawai.
Kwaii is providing (licensing/manufacturing) the action on the Nord’s correct?
As far as I know, it's only on the Nord Grand, which uses the RH3 action.
@@ThePianoforever Are you going to compare them in the near future?
The Nord has a smooth sound, but hollow in comparison to the Kawaii.
I suppose you got your stickey keys and volume glitch sorted out on the Nord??
Yes, I sent it back.
Great review! I have my eye on getting the Kawai MP11SE. What speakers would you recommend for it?
Good monitors with a subwoofer
As pricey as the Nord is,it doesnt sound as realistic, rounded & has a better mid range as the Kawai MP11SE
id like learn this what piece is it?
Enjoy your videos... please review either the Korg Kronos or Kurzweil Forte or both.
Seems like you are a fan of french composers... Great music tastes

It comes with several piano patches of various sizes, the default one which I played the most is XL.
The kawai stands out for me. The tone color is better. And you didn’t even talked about your problems with it. (See comparison between north 3 and grand for that) I am still doubting between the kawai and the Roland 2000 but the kawai got a lot goods. Thank you for sharing.
The bottom piano sounds and the bottom both have no variables.
See you @ NAMM!
