I enjoy doing comparisons between the different styles in this Kata. Your move 2, Jodan tsuki, is typical for Miyasato lineage, while my lineage, Meibukan/Yamaguchi does chudan seiken tsuki. An other difference is the next move, gedan barai, where you have the thumb towards the floor, and from what I understand is the way Miyagi did it before ww2. I love your clear explanations! Please keep this series coming, I am learning a lot!
We love so much to hear from those who share this karate journey with us! So amazing to see the clear thumbprint of every great Sensei live on in so many students, all over the world. Truly, each kata is a signed masterpiece! Thank you for your kind words, and for watching and commenting! 🙇♀️
Samlaren I am told by my sensei who trained with Yagi that he wanted to practice chudan because chudan is strong enough. Which I think means no need to hurt more than is necessary.
Thank you for this beautiful comment! We are grateful that our videos can be helpful to others 🙇🏻♀️ Thank you for watching and commenting, and we hope to hear from you again soon!
We love to hear from our friends in other styles! I would love to experience Wado Ryu and add to my knowledge as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! Please forgive our very late reply to your thoughtful comment.
Thank you so much for your kind words, @darcyperel9420! We appreciate the time you took to watch and comment :) We hope you'll stick around for our next video!
Thank you for this lovely comment! We believe that the variations are important, and should be studied rather than ignored because "that's not how my sensei does it". The differences are like the differences in pasta. Fundamentally, it is all pasta, but we like a little variety! Thank you for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it :)
thank you very much for this great explanation. I just started to learn Yuishinkan Goju Ryu after many years of practising Shotokan. So for me some moves are quite different from what I used to do back in my JKA Karate days. But I keep learning and your channel helps me a lot. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you so, so much for these kind words - we are so glad to hear that we are able to help fellow karate practitioners all over the world! Keep at it! Big change from JKA to Goju Ryu - you're doing great 🙇♀️
Great instruction with a lot of detail but presented in a very comprehensible way. Theres a lot of points to me that i will focus on in my practice the next weeks. Even though in my dojo we de some things different like the Gedan Barei which is executed differently (and called Harai O Toshi Uke) there's a lot of helpfull info here. Instant Subscription.
Ah, what a lovely, lovely comment to receive! Thank you so much for your subscription, and we hope to continue bringing out valuable videos for karate-ka like you! Wishing you all the best for your karate journey, Jan 💪
Hello from South Africa! Here are the katas in order for our syllabus, from lowest to highest: Geki Sai Dai Ichi Geki Sai Dai Ni Saifa Seiyunchin Shisochin Sanseiru Seipai Kururunfa Seisan Suparinpei Sanchin Tensho Thank you for commenting and watching 😁
I was in Goju for a number of years. Achieved the rank of Brown Belt (Ichi Kyu). Do you do online classes? Unfortunately the nearest Goju school is 30 miles away and I do not have the time to travel regularly there.
Hello, Dale! At the moment, we do a monthly livestream for our members from the second tier up. We might look at doing online classes more often, as there seems to be a growing demand for it. The main difficulty we face is the best time for students, as our top 4 countries cross all the timezones, from the US to Oz. But please do watch this space in case we do decide to try offer online classes :) Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hi John, Sorry to hear that - this was one of the videos we filmed before we got a lav mic, so the sound isn't great. Since then we have worked on improving our production values, and hopefully you will find this video more helpful: ruclips.net/video/sZ86wr2WT0w/видео.html
You are so welcome! We wish we had started using a mic sooner - we only got into it at around our 40th video 😅 but we will keep learning and working on our production and content 🙇🏻♀️ thank you for your patience, and for taking the time to watch and comment!

Hello from America. Just getting back into martial arts and seeking to learn the traditional katas. Thank you so much for this content.
Our pleasure, Kirk! So glad you are getting back into it - the karate world is glad to have you back 🥋
So happy to have found this channel. Such great instruction, especially how you demonstrate and explain the "why" for each of the steps in this kata.
We are so happy to have you watch and enjoy our videos! Thank you so much for the lovely words, Sirius 🌻
If you think that's good look for his bunkai vids
