    I'll miss Splash Mountain, it has remained my favorite ride for all time. At least Disney is letting us ride this beloved attraction a few more times before it goes the way of America Sings, Rocket Rods, and so many others. The only thing keeping me okay with this change is a quote from Imagineering, "Disneyland isn't a museum.", as well as Walt Disney's quote, "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination in the world." Those two quotes are the only thing keeping me together about this massive change to Disney parks, and yes, I'm upset. I understand how society has changed through the 30 years it's been since this ride was built, but what a great 30 years it's been. I know that we still have some time to sail thru Splash Mountain when Disneyland opens back up (hopefully soon), and who knows, maybe the new version will be better or not?
    All I can say for Splash Mountain, it's a great ride that delivers some of the best storytelling I've ever seen in a Disneyland attraction, almost at the same level as Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and dare I say Rise of the Resistance. This ride has seen a lot in it's 30 years, so many people it's delighted with it's story, atmosphere, and the experience it delivers. While I know that this ride isn't going away completely, it still makes me sad to see it go, but I know it'll keep living on in our memories, unchanged. I'm very happy that I got a multitude of chances in my life to travel down into the Briar Patch and have the time of my life. I'm trying to be strong about this, and I am wondering how the new ride will deliver an experience like this, but who knows?
    Well, if you've taken the time to read this far, at least we have countless video of this legendary ride to watch, and memories which can be never be replaced.
    Thanks for all the Doo Dah times Splash Mountain... You're the tallest peak in my mountain range. 1989-2020

    • @wjsproductions1784

      I was thinking of commenting something very similar, but you took the words right out of my mouth! Splash Mountain was my favorite ride of all time and a huge part of my childhood, and even though it breaks my heart to see it go, this is definitely a case where I need to let go of my own personal nostalgia for the greater good.

    • @jumangonzalez6340
      @jumangonzalez6340 3 года назад +5

      Sorry I disagree with you and I think you're talking like a defeatist. Disneyland is MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE THAN A THEME PARK, it's also a museum, it's also a cultural center, it's many many more things it's about new things and about nostalgia as well, that's what makes it different from the other theme parks.
      There is no reason why they can't create a brand new ride from scratch for Princess and the Frog, This ride is an extremely important part of Disney History and Disney park history, not to mention African-American Folklore, because the stories are based on African-American heritage. Unlike princess and the frog which was nothing more than Black audience pandering by taking a Danish fairy tale and putting a black face on it.
      To Change Splash Mountain is to erase the memory of Uncle Remus stories, it's to erase the incredible works of Marc Davis in creating these characters. It's just one more step Bob Iger is taking to destroy Walt's Legacy.
      And this talking point of " "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination in the world." -- if you actually see under what context he said that, he said in the sense that more new ideas and more new attractions would be added to already existing ones and that the only area that he felt would be changing regularly would be tomorrowland.
      So sorry I am not for this change, and the vast majority of Disney fans are not for this SJeW Pandering change either to make the park more PC, all that is doing is encouraging the easily offended who are illiterate to begin with have more reason to find more reasons to be offended by everything else that is a classic in the park, Now Jungle Cruise has taken a hit, next will be "it's a Small world"" then Peter Pan, then maybe the entire Frontierland.

    • @jumangonzalez6340

      @@wjsproductions1784 "I need to let go of my own personal nostalgia for the greater good.
      " -- I don't know what the hell you're talking about, you're not the only one who is sad to see this ride go, many people are, just in case you didn't know, NOSTALGIA is one of the reasons people come to Disneyland, you can read my other comment to see what else Disneyland offers which makes it different from all the other parks.
      As far as your claim of the greater good goes -- there is nothing that serves greater good by taking an action that has become more divisive than to erase such an iconic ride That is POPULAR and has high attendance, that has so much history and culture behind it and replace it with something what was nothing more than commercial pandering to a Black audience to begin with. While Princess and the Frog is probably the best film made DURING THE IGER ERA -- that isn't saying much since in the IGER ERA nothing but garbage has been produces.
      Brer rabbit stories are based on African-American Heritage, Princess and the Frog is based on a Danish Fairy tale that Iger decided to put a black face on to pander to a black audience.
      There is no reason for a company that has the money and resources that Iger's Disney today does have, to create a brand new ride from the ground up based on Princess and the Frog. If they can shove a Star Wars area on to the park and completely Destroy the identity of the park with that area (even though Star Wars and Marvel should be a different theme park all together) They can create a Princess and the frog ride, instead of taking the cheap skate route of redoing things.
      To Erase Brer Rabbit is to erase Walt's legacy, Marc Davis legacy, and even James Baskett's Legacy and Nick Steward's legacy.
      Remember, America Sings, Rocket Rods and many other saw their attendance drop, this is not seeing a drop in attendance, but even when America Sings attendance dropped they decided this would be a great way to keep the legacy of America Sings alive by incorporating them to a ride about the Brer Rabbit stories.
      So Sorry I don't buy the argument one bit.

    • @jumangonzalez6340
      @jumangonzalez6340 3 года назад +3

      @@wjsproductions1784 - NO he didn't, that's just your talking point. Walt never said that. Disneyland is very different from all the other theme parks and it's more than a theme park for people to come seek adolescent thrills based on what the studio executives say is trendy.
      Walt very much wanted everything he made and every classic he made to remain alive for future generations.
      Changing the Splash Mountain theme instead of creating a brand new ride for Princess and the Frog is erasing the amazing work Walt himself did on the Brer Rabbit stories. The Brer Rabbit stories must be kept alive for future generations.
