Can Anyone Out There Play Chris Cornell's "Through The Window" on Guitar? Not Me... (How To, Part 1)

- If you know anything about me you know that Chris Cornell and his music are tremendously dear to my heart. I had such an intense time figuring out how to play Through The Window - picking through the song with the track on super slow motion using every microgram of ear-ball-juice i've developed over the years - and it is quite honor to share this with you. But I'm never going to be able to play this mind bending song as I'm allergic to finger picking. Will you be the one to do it? I hope so!

Man, the more Cornell lessons you do the greater appreciation I have for his musicianship/catalogue! Not even going to attempt this one, but thanks Ryan for pulling the curtain back on this beauty.
Fun to see what separates the men from the boys.
And yes continue along the Cornell journey.
"next level creativity" as stone put it
Maybe thats it. I feel the same way. I understood his talent. Soundgarden was a lil earlier then i was ready. I really liked sublime. I was too mellow for all that. Even Tool came later for me... I still dont like Metallica... No death threats please. But Cornell, im appreciating more and more. I always say, if i made a band, it would be Chris and rage. Love those guys but Zac is a lil too political and angry for me... korn was the same, but all my friends loved them. Not for me.. Audioslave is definitely more of my lane... I was also a huge Tori Amos fan so there you go... That probably explains it best. Lol
WOOOO! We're gonna continue this!
wooooo!
Rinse, wash, repeat for Cornell is dangerous. I tattoo and after i had a spell like that, now i have his logo on my ankle. Its awesome.. its like a lotus. i loved audioslave but not until i played guitar, i started on a understanding the thing about him. So thanks for the song
great tattoo nicole :) :)
I’ve been dying to see a lesson for this for so long! Thank you so much for what you do, Ryan, you’re amazing :)

This is one of my most favorite songs by Chris
one of the best songs ever written.
Finally got round to giving this one a go and it's beautiful. Thank you, very much.
Hopefully I manage to get these pieces up to speed before your brain stumbles upon part 2 :D
:) good luck with this one Dan
Ryan, this was awesome. These are the lessons that remind me of why I picked up a guitar. Cornell is a genius and you are a credit to your craft pal!
I love that and I appreciate you Michael.
This is great stuff. I love this song and I’m enjoying learning this as you break it down step by step. Thanks!
Thank you sir! A teacher showed me Chris shortly after he passed these days I feel like I knew him personally! It’s a wild thing. Sad I won’t be able to see him live but being able to play something of his is a good feeling.
Love the whole album, cannot fault it! Would love to see a Dead Wishes tutorial if possible 🤍....I can't make it past the intro!
good idea!!
That's my favorite chris cornell song. I was trying it in standard tuning and I would never get it right on my own, thank you so much!!
it's an honor thales :)
Omg, I have tried to figure this out for so long! You legend!
Hi Sophie! (email me i'll send you the tab)
I’m so glad you did this as I was failing epically. Part II - Yes please!
hehe. cheers chris.
I learned a lot from you in a short time you are amazing thank you very much
cheers to you friend.
This was very fun and helpful
yay!
You should also teach dead wishes from this album

Impassioned Request: Chris Cornell - Ferry Boat #3
awesome!
YES! You are a glutton for punishment. I didn't realize the first two strings were tuned down, I was trying to play it in standard tuning and a couple parts just weren't making sense. I will say I play open e instead of B (5th fret) and it seems to flow a little better with the travis picking. Can't wait for part 2, looks like I've got some work to do before then. For me, undoubtedly this is Cornell's best song. Amazing musically and lyrically. Thank you sir for doing this!
you do you on the open E string but I'd like to submit that you can hear chris slide up on the B string - a little bit early a la "better man" in the lick. Cheers papa thanks for being here for 4 years (!)
Your breakdown of songs from the Euphoria Morning album really helped me out... looking forward to trying this song. Thankeee :-)
good luck steve!
I have been playing it wrong for so many years. This is so much easier.
haha if this is easy... :)
Seasons acoustic is also a mega cool tune as is his movie soundtrack to film machine gun preacher
best song ever written.
Not only am I allergic to finger picking, my acoustic guitar is still tuned to DAEAAE from one of your other lessons!
double whammy!
I'm not the best at finger picking but a good way to learn is James Taylor for me, or CSNY Helplessly hoping is a good one, great job Ryan. You always impress❤
cheers fox.
part 2 anytime soon?
❤
How about Cornell #1 Zero solo acoustic
love it.
Hi. Cool channel. Would you do a She likes surprises by Soundgarden tutorial? Thanks, God bless you.
god bless you sir.
✌️❤️🤘
:)
Important
No capo, any other options?
Nvm I made one
Not a capo fan? Im not sure about it yet. It confuses me a lil. I know what im supposed to do but do it wrong, on wrong frets, when i actually try
Ooooh a too patter.
don't go acting like you're from bahston. you're from new yok.
