    For the amount he was asking I would have requested he throw in Dracula #10 to sweeten the deal or offer $700. You are correct when mentioned the cost of reboarding and bagging in addition to the time you have to put in. Never feel bad about negotiating a better price. Dig watching your determination to improve in the comic business. I know it isn’t always easy. 👍

      That is very true but I honestly think he didn't have to re-bag the entire collection, I would just rebag the ones that are worth a bit more money but everything he was planning to sell for $0.50-$2.00 was not necessary to rebag and look pretty and could have been sold as is. I can tell he is a bit picky when it comes to presentation and condition but I don't think people who will buy the books that are below $2.00 care about the condition or new bags at that price point.

      People buying cheap books online are usually the ones who complain the most in my little comic selling experience so far. If selling at a flea Market who cares but online people complain. @@jon6309

    I watch quite a few comics videos and a lot of sellers price at two to four dollars a book especially at conventions. Try for two dollars if you are worried, three dollars if you have no worries and four dollars if the book is nice. Your attention to detail Angelo is A PLUS, Sara as well. Keep up the great videos. 😃

    I really enjoy your channel and watching you two do your hunting..I just started up collecting again it has been awhile,it started back in 1982 all the the way to 1990 then I joined the navy and left my comics to my younger brothers wishing I would have kept them but that is how it goes. And was picking some up while I served but I lost my inner child.well I’m 52 now and I’m starting over now and loving it and it helps me to watch you two to help me know what to look for and I thank you for that.well long winded old guy I can’t spend much because I have health concerns but I go thru my lbs and find cheap books and new things to try I can usually only spend 40 to 60 a month but I’m happy to be able to do that much and feel young again and have those adventures I sure did love as a kid. Thank you both keep it up and I will always follow you two,John.

    Seems like it will take a super long time if ever to ever turn a profit off that collection. Plus the time consumption of boxing and shipping. I just always think if I had 1500 I would just buy some really cool keys and not just random stuff that always looks like leftovers from a shop that’s gone out of business

    You lost money on this deal. In the future, remove the higher valued books from the bags to examine them. If the higher value books are bronze, then check for the MVS, don't take the risk. Take your time to do that, and if the seller won't let you, then that's a red flag and you should move on. Include the common books in the sale lot, but don't examine them because they are not worth your time to look through. That's the way you go through this type of collection. And whatever their asking price is, unless it is already rock bottom, cut it in half or less. It was good you explained the cost of bags/boards, but you have a lot more expenses such as your time doing all the work re-bagging and selling, plus all your indirect costs as well as opportunity costs as it will take time to sell all those books and your money otherwise invested could have otherwise been earning interest during that time, plus whatever storage costs. And remember 90s books for the most part are worthless, very few exceptions. I do enjoy your videos, good luck going forward.

    Hi Angelo, Great video about Comic Collector Sells His Childhood Marvel Collection,Keep them coming,Also your video was outstanding, Also Solid Collection and Sharp pick ups. It's unreal how much a new bag and board can make a Book look better sometimes a world of difference between before and after. Also as always I enjoy all your videos a lot God Bless Kris. I too loved The Ghost Rider comics but I also loved The Blade Vampire Hunter Comics as well, The Cards/Trading Cards are pretty cool too. Also both the Tour and Walkthrough Brian's House in Florida was superb, Also Brian's Childhood Collection from Blade The Vampire Hunter to X-Men was Remarkable,Also I think it's worth re-bagging everything does Force you take your time looking at what you buy Weirdly relaxing as well.Loved not only The Captain America Comics, not only loved The Tomb Of Dracula Comics but also Moribus The Living Vampire Comics as well. Also the cards are superb as well. Also Just keep up the hard work eventually it will pay off. It also always helps to have someone supporting your hobbies. You are incredibly nice and well mannered. I always love your enthusiasm but, I would have passed on that collection. There was nothing special in there at all. A book I can only sell for a $1 gets offered .25 at best. I hope you make your money back. Remember books from the 90's or later have to be in 9.6 to 9.8 condition to sell cheap. Low grade copies should be put in the recycling bin or given to a church or library. Copper age books need to be in very high grade to sell unless it's a big key which are few and far between. I didn't see any bronze or silver age where low grade will sell easy. Great video as always.

    Wicked long-form vid! So hard to gauge with collections. You don’t want to be a jerk to people in the community and low ball but at the same time if it’s your full time gig you gotta be realistic and offer what you can in order to make even the smallest profit. Also, Not every collection needs to be acquired. Anyway, good luck and all the best 🤘🤘🤘🤘

  • @charliedogg7683
    @charliedogg7683 10 месяцев назад +1

    This seller reminds me of my younger self, 95% of my comics were stored at my parents' house and whenever we visited them I'd take back the old comics I'd read and bring away a new pile to read - not literally new as they were all Silver and Bronze Age but new because I hadn't read them in years.
    I didn't know about Two-Gun Kid #77 and the Black Panther prototype, an interesting bit of Marvel history.
    As a viewer this was a fun video but as a seller Angelo you're right, there's a lot of repetitive work getting the comics ready to sell for not a huge return.

    You have to take your time and do your due diligence when buying large collections. Seeing some keys with foxing, stains and creases can be annoying when you get home. I would have set some of the $5-$50 keys, set them aside and checked them rigorously. I would have maybe offered him $500 based on condition. There were a TON of 0.50 cent comics there that are really not worth the time. I would have paid $1K if he had thrown in the Tomb of Dracula 10. NO TOD 10, no deal. You look3e disappointed towards the end of the video. Great content and I appreciate seeing real collectors who make mistakes. We've all been there.

    Good video. For the keys you discovered in the collection $1700 was not a bad price overall. Though I feel your pain on shelling out $1700; it is part of the game. Pricing of bags and boards are part of the process, and like others commented - you're not re-bagging the $5 and under books. Condition of the books were decent considering he enjoyed them and he threw in those cards. Y'all will make a good ROI on it.

    I love watching your videos. Also like looking at the comments cause as a consumer people think OH WOW 1.50 a comic great deal. As a comic seller 1.50 for a comic with no big keys kinda bleh I would have stuck to 500ish since there was a past relationship maybe 700-800. I always try to buy collections were the keys help offset the cost of the bulk. I cherry pick anything 10plus gets pulled put the rest in short boxes and sell the short boxes for 20.00-50.00 just to get them out of the way. But you are on Whatnot from what I hear that is a great place to move bulk comics. Wish the best of luck in your comic adventures. Will keep watching always put out fun videos.

  • @jon6309
    @jon6309 10 месяцев назад

    hmm it seems like buying by bulk is not the best strategy in this business unless you are able to find very strong key issues that would make up for the price of the entire collection. I mostly dig in $1 bins for minor key issues or covers that I really like but I don't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars per transaction.

    Nice haul but I definitely would have threw him a low ball offer and go from there. Imo $1500 was too much, especially since you found out u got burned when u got home and noticed a bunch were JC Penny reprints. When he pulled out the Black Panther prototype and the Tod 10, I would have focused all my attention towards those two books and try to make a deal! Live and learn! Enjoyed the video till the last half when u were back home looking thru the books and cards..... She should have zoomed out while filming... I was getting a headache during that part! 😂

The books you said would be $0.50 I thought could easily be $1.00. I would sell them as $1.00 or six for $5.00. Just some thoughts, I thought the collection was very interesting, just not NM stuff. After Fees and taxes he is walking away with like 500-700 but it will be a while before some one actually buys them going to be sitting on that for a while. 500-700 would be most I would offer. I am not wasting my time selling stuff for a dollar or .50 cents. Try to sell that rough stuff online and see how long it takes. People always forget about the expenses sellers have to cover to actually sell comics. Shipping Materials, Taxes, Fees, bag boards, and most of all TIME!
