    Found your video last night, went online and preordered the channels, picked them up today and already have a comic wall. Super easy, and looks clean. Thank you so much for posting this.!

    I love this! My only modification would be to use command strips instead of screws. Comic cooks are pretty light so a few command strips should work fine. You can also easily adjust the level-ness (?) of them after the fact without removing the strips. I don't have any graded books, so I'm sure about the weight there, but for regular books it would be fine.

    Cool . One thing I would suggest is sanding the ends that were cut for a more finished product and maybe painting the rails... Looks good though , great idea

      David Pacelli Great call on the sanding the ends. I thought about painting the rails, I still might go back and do that.
      Another suggestion is to put some felt over the screws so the backs of the cases don’t get scratched. I learned the hard way.

      Matt Trudell Lesson learned that you should do, felt stickers over the screws. Just in case. The thick books like ASM 800 gets tight with those. Normal size books fit perfect.

    That's awesome bro but people dont ready need a drill if your screwing into just drywall not stud, . Just need a screwdriver.

    • @midwestcomicsnpops7468
      @midwestcomicsnpops7468  4 года назад +1

      Correct, I used wall anchors since I didn't go into studs and pre-drilled those holes for those. Little overkill I know.

    I'm looking to do this but I'd just be doing bagged and boarded. I'm a little worried that the bottoms and tops of the books will be cut off too much. Do you notice that at all?

  • @thombly4962
    @thombly4962 4 года назад

    Looks great. I'm definitely going to do this for the display. Do you know how well that J-Channel holds paint if I wanted to add some color to it? Also Saw your Edge of Spider-Verse is graded at 9.8. I'm jealous. Mine is only 9.6, but I got it signed by Rico and Robbie.

      Thom Bly I’m not sure about the paint, never tried it personally and I’m not in construction in general. They are cheap enough it’s worth a try though. Glad you like the idea! Buy felt stickers to put over the screws. I scratched the back of one case on a thicker case (ASM 800).

    Do your cases get scratches from the screws or sliding?

    • @midwestcomicsnpops7468
      @midwestcomicsnpops7468  3 года назад

      To prevent that I learned that some felt over the screws will stop that from happening.

    Also if you don’t have a level you can use the “Measure” app that comes preinstalled on iphones. It’s on the bottom right hand side when you open the app:)

    Nice but I don’t think a top and bottom are needed. I will build mine with only the bottom piece. I don’t like the idea of having to slide the slabs in and out. Can lead to damage. Thx for the idea!

    • @midwestcomicsnpops7468
      @midwestcomicsnpops7468  3 года назад

      For sliding in the slabs, I highly recommend felt over the screws to avoid that damage. I learned that after this video.
      And for the top and/or bottom, I liked the idea of having them flush with the wall and not angled, leaning against the wall. Only my preference. The great thing about this hobby is everyone can do what they enjoy! Thanks for watching and happy to hear I have some ideas!

      if you live in an earthquake state do both top and bottom

    • @rijos31
      @rijos31 3 года назад

      @@midwestcomicsnpops7468 I successfully completed one section that fit 6 slabs. I covered the screws. But one thing I noticed is that the lips of the J channel caused little scratch marks on the slabs…too and bottom..as you slide them in and out. I can’t afford to have my slabs scratched up like that because then this devalues them. So I can’t display them this way and have to look for another more expensive option…like low profile floating shelves or something. Sucks because they actually look nice in the J channels.

    I’m putting together a comic book Room is it possible to Do this without the top loaders I’m trying to Do a Display just like this but just comics in a bag and board

    • @midwestcomicsnpops7468
      @midwestcomicsnpops7468  3 года назад +1

      Yes so in the picture on the bottom row are only top loader books. I cut out a different height cardboard to measure against and put the rails a little closer than I would have for slabs. One thing I forgot in the video is to put some felt over the screws so you don’t scratch the back of a slab. Good luck with your room!
