- Burton Cummings sits down for an interview with Arlene Bynon.
This show aired July 7, 1999, just weeks before the classic Guess Who lineup reunited to perform at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg that August.
I have always loved Burton Cummings, I am 68 yrs. old. Love his voice and what a talented man in singing and writing.
Every interview I’ve ever heard from him has been exactly like this…absolutely impressive and masterful! He’s so bright, extremely intelligent and well spoken! So it’s so strange that he still speaks so well when his mind has been through so much through drugs and alcohol. It just doesn’t seem to go together. You don’t see people talking like this with his background. So it’s very unusual. But somehow, he came through it all MORE than alright. Really amazing. He could pass for a professor or a scientist as much as he could a rock ‘n’ roll star. Truly an unusual person. 😊
He is extremely intelligent...He wasnt as effected from the drugs since he didn't quite partake as much as some and never was addicted too much..He was smart enough to know what it could do and straightened up.
Burton is a great speaker. He is knowledgeable & pleasant to look at!
I just discovered The Guess Who. Wow!! I am in love with them. They are absolutely legends and Burton has the most beautiful voice. He is such a talented man. I adored ‘Stand Talk’, never realizing he was the lead singer of the Guess Who. I am watching all their interviews and videos and cannot get enough of them. Burton was a gorgeous young man. He is still a very handsome
man.

One need’s to remember, Burton was a straight A student up until the time he started his first band in high school.

Video is such a distraction to the music. Worse, the images in video are not from the artist whom crated the music, total disconnect.
Gawwd the interviewer talks over Burtons recalls of important events and hasn't a clue. She's kinda arrogant for no reason. I'd like to have heard more of the stories Cummings tried to express. Oh well. a great interview all the same. Just let Burton talk next time. The time allotted time he gets to speak is sparse to say the least. And the questions could have been better.
