Natty's mental disposition was the best out of the bunch. He understood why the harsh training was necessary and was able to stay calm throughout the training. You can see similar mindset with Harvey and Jayden. The rest of the boys did well too, but you can see that they were shaken up more easily and to a greater extent. They are not to blame, people are just different through the accumulation of their life experiences, their interpretation, and conditioning from their childhood. But now they all have experienced the same hardship and stronger because of it. Max demonstrated that.
You also have to take account that people experience pain differently, if they haven’t experienced it before or if you have a particularly strong immune response. I don’t think the teacher or Max should feel bad about their responses since we don’t know what was happening in their minds or bodies that caused them to react more extreme than the others. The good part is they got through it.
armand,also.. at first he was really out of his comfort zone and sort of in a panic..but here,he was already thinking like a soldier.. but natty,he was really solid right from the start..
@@glencoco3142 I felt bad for him. He couldn't open his eyes and so couldn't watch and follow the others, and couldn't understand what was being said. I don't think there was anyone interpreting right by him at that time. I was at a dance club once in my early 20s and the cigarette smoke in the compact, enclosed space irritated my eyes so much, they teared up and shut tight. For the life of me, I couldn't force them open for a couple long minutes and it felt horrible, but it was nothing compared to this training.
I hope Josh can arrange a trip to the UK for the hardworking and compassionate soldiers who worked as translators for the team during this series. It might take some time until they finish their military service, but I'm confident so many people would be happy to see them back on this channel. They deserve the same luxurious treatment the boys received on their first day in Korea. Edit: Just wanted to say that everyone did great in this series, but I really have to give major props to Nati, Harvey, and Jayden. It's clear they have a deep appreciation for Korea and their fellow soldiers, and their maturity exceeds what one might expect at their stage in life. It'd be great to see them in another series. I mean... who wouldn't want to see Nati taking a culinary course or doing a restaurant tour in Korea? It'd be so much fun! :) And let's not forget Bobby, who did an amazing job despite dealing with a hand injury. That's some serious dedication.
I was never really impressed by Harvey until this military series 😄 He was often overshadowed by others because I saw him rather quiet. But we see, how mature and capable a man he is when pressured. Humans often show their bare selves when put under pressure and Harvey possesses the quality I like to be a friend with.
Harvey is genuinely a very respectful person. He even apologised to the DI for the laughing even though I'm sure the DI was not expecting it anyways. I think that's special because most young people these days forget to reflect and apologise. This shows that Harvey really considered how the DI felt as well as the weight of his actions.
I think many western people in general forget to reflect and apologize. The societal ideals are incredibly individualistic which leads to many putting themselves before others. Assuming others must simply conform to and accept their behaviour rather than reflecting on how their behaviour impacts others.
@@AmeliaCaroline So you met a small percentage of college students from a very specific locale which gave you wide-reaching information on the entire West?
Natti's cadet training is obvious here, he did so well. Proof that military training is about the mind not how fit you are. The Koreans probably had more mind training building up to this so it's amazing that our boys survived everything as well. Max, I know you're disappointed in yourself, but I just want to say we are so proud of what you have achieved in a foreign land with no prior training.
Truth. Military training is less about physical fitness, though that's an obvious thing that all soldiers must have, and more about mental conditioning. Basic training exists for both aspects, but the most important part is the mental part. I dare say far more people wash out in basic because of mental issues than physical issues, discounting actual medical conditions.
The mental conditioning during training is easy cus your so busy being rolled around by the drill seargents… it’s after you get deployed to your unit and realise that you are at the bottom of the food chain and that you have 2 years left of service, that’s when you get introduced to real mental conditioning..
Actually, we do a LOT of physical training lol. As a Korean, I'm proud at Nati's dedication, if he actually stayed; he could get promoted in no time and work as a Military Police or D.P as a English translator lol.
The fact that headmaster Dave was having an allergic reaction in the gas chamber yet was encouraging and taking care of the boys brings a tear to my eye. What a great role model he is. The boys must have been so grateful and relieved to have had him there ❤.
I'm proud of Armand. He gets so much criticism in the first episode from his nervous giggles. My personality is kinda like him so I understand him: love being in control, can get unintentionally very serious, academic, not good with handling unplanned situations, laugh nervously to cope with stress, etc. He loves being in control, so when he was in a situation that he couldnt control anything, it drove him nuts. What he needed was some time to adapt. Once he got it, he did really well. He endured the log exercise without complaints despite of carrying more weight because he was the tallest, was grateful to his Korean comrads who helped them, went to the gas chamber and learned a valuable lesson from it. Everyone was doing exceptionally well, but I'll always have a soft spot for Armand. He reminds me so much of myself. People like us get hate because we are not quick to adapt and get agitated in a stressful situation. All we want to do is to do well, and when we cant, it's just frustrating.
Nati being prompted to do the final salute by the DI is a high compliment. That means the DI noticed how fast he picked up Korean phrases and was a role model of how to execute orders. Nati really glowed in this whole series!
Emotionally, he not only accepted the experience, he fully embraced it. As a former police cadet, he gets it and he's into it. Feel like the series was made for him. He cried when he tried KBBQ+kimchi. 😅
24:31 It's interesting that Natty was the most worried because he feel like he doesn't have a good enough physical strength to follow the training but the DI praise him to be the best out of everyone 😁😁😁😁
Natty's mental disposition was the best out of the bunch. He understood why the harsh training was necessary and was able to stay calm throughout the training. Nati reminds me of my friend who was so skinny when he joined the military the recruiter ordered him to eat a double quarter pounder with cheese and come back or else he would be underweight. Four years later, he's ripped and strong. You can train physical strength. Mental strength is harder
Harvey has consistently shown how respectful and genuine he is as a person. From the british highschoolers series to this....he always thank people (thanks Gabie personally with the korean toast video, says something along the lines of "i don’t know how to repay you" when they were told they were going to Korea, apologizing for their behavior in this recent video. If you rewatch all their series, you will notice how consistent he is with his gratitude, respect and humility.
Natti might lost in the physical, but he wins in the mental. Shows you that having a great mentality helps you a lot, especially in survival situations.

i feel so proud of him. he tackled everything with so much bravery and dedication. and the way he connected with the korean soldiers showed what a socially intelligent, empathetic and compassionate person he is. what an amazing young man
Wonderful human. When he shed a tear after tasting KBBQ pork & kimchi, I thought he was Korean in a past life. I bet he'll live in Korea for at least 2 years, probably longer.
Natti and Harvey truly deserve a separate trip to Korea. They both excelled during the boot camp and demonstrated great respect towards others. Their performance during the gas chamber training was exceptional. While I appreciate everyone, I hold immense respect and admiration for Natti and Harvey. We eagerly anticipate seeing more of them. Could you please consider arranging something special for them? They deserve it!
i loved the part at the end with the DI, Harvey asking to say sorry they laughed at the start of the training, and the DI's sense of humour saying "Armand was the worst~ Mr Smile-man!" and everyone dissolving into laughter. haha that was heartwarming. also, when one of the DIs gave a smile to Bobby when giving him the military tag
Nati may not be the strongest physically, but he was definitely the strongest mentally!! I felt super proud of him. His leadership and determination has really shown through. He wasn't defiant and was respectful in every aspect of their training. Bravo, Nati! His parents definitely raised him right! 😊
Natty absolutely smashed it his determination and respect goes beyond his years. To learn full korean phrases in 3 days is incredible. The boys aswell all grew so much. Natty needs a lil ep with Ollie learning Korean
Former US Army Nurse, I have spent 40 years trying to forget gas mask training. It was not a pleasant experience, especially as I couldn't wear my glasses and was effectively blind during training. On the other hand, I am here today because my Grandaddy did take the training seriously. He fought in WW1 in the trenches in France. Many of his buddies thought the gas mask was unnecessary weight and threw it away. Grandaddy didn't and was one of the few in his company to survive. So, kudos to all of the young men and Josh and Mr. Smith for doing the training. Especially to Mr. Smith who was being supportive to others as his throat was swelling.
Wow, that is an incredible story. I've heard that the point of this training is not so much about togetherness and teamwork as it's about building confidence in your equipment, and your story really demonstrates that.
Nice to see U.S. Forces here. I.m South Korean. South Korea and U.S are blood allies. bleeding his own blood, so many young american soldiers like youth on this video had protected South Korea. as a result of, South Korea could protect freedom, in 1950, the nation one of world poorest country have become world 15th richest country now. so many people in S.K appreciate U.S Forces's doing to protect South Korea from North Korea's invasion in 1950. as a one of South Korean, thanks for U.S Force's sacrifice and devotion. God bless you and U.S.A. let's go together(chant of United States Forces Korea)~!!
Mine was around 40 years ago as well. We had a different style of gas mask, no screw on filters, so we had to take the whole mask completely off inside the gas chamber. Ah, memories.
I guess DI was paying attention to Natti more from previous training, but Harvey was an absolute unit in the Gas Chamber (second from left next to Natti), first one to remove mask, and was literally as calm as possible.
Shoutout to Mr. Smith who despite being in pain as well, still patted Bobby and Jayden on the shoulder and tried to reassure them at least. Good on you Mr. Smith!
Wish I have a teacher like Mr. Smith, the level of respect there, entering the gas chamber while having allergic reaction is insane, in addition to that he was calm the whole time even manage to encourage Bobby. He definitely deserve to have his own dogtag
The CBR exercise also allows soldiers to understand why chemical warfare is strictly forbidden in the Geneva convention. Allow the soldiers to have compassion towards the soldiers that went through the chemical warfare used during WW2 (edit: WW1 as many have pointed out). Also, these are just tear gas, which is the mildest form of gas.
Unfortunately, South Korea and North Korea are countries that mass-produce biological and chemical weapons, so we have to prepare for chemical warfare. Of course, we don't have it officially, but we have a huge amount unofficially. It is competing for first and second place worldwide.
You mean WWI. The worst of humanity was on display when both sides unleashed Mustard and Chlorine gas on each other; an agonizingly horrible way to die. Any rational person would rather eat a bullet than go through that.
Special shout out to Nati. He's extremely calm under pressure. Listening to him and watching him leaves no doubt that he will do well in a leadership role.
Armand also deserves some praise though. In fact they all do. They have done so well, RESPECT.not only the boys but headmaster Dave its all so overwhelming
i feel like harvey, nati, and jayden's personalities and mental disposition were really able to shine this series. I love all the boys but you can not deny that this series makes them stand out in a way that makes you respect them and their maturity more.
Harvey is a UNIT. He excelled through the series and especially in the chamber. He’s incredibly humble, kind, like-able, well spoken and such a cool dude. We need more Harvey.
I'm so glad the drill sergeant saw how well Nati performed during the training especially since he was the one who said he for sure do the worst. He 100% gave it his best since his effort in each exercise showed
Armand's character development from getting a shock in the beginning to this episode is amazing where he reinforced the orders and togetherness which he empathized with everyone that doing things to not make others suffer and finish it all better.. he learned and thats the best part of it. Thats the purpose. He faced it well and im proud of him and all the boys. Max, Bobby, Jaden, Nati and Harvey, Mr Smith and Josh, all of you did amazing and not giving up is inspiring. This may be nothing to others or might see flaws but we have to remember theyre from the UK and theyre not in this fit or expected sevice. Im happy to have seen them all get through the 3 days training and obviously learned so much.
I agree with your statement. Not to minimize the efforts of the other guys but if this was a movie Armand would have had one the best character arcs besides Max who's usually the cheerful, positive guy but broke down in this episode. Congratulations to all the guys for having survived the boot camp. So proud of y'all
Nati and Harvey really excelled through this series. I mean Nati, obviously, we could always see how dedicated he is, doing the tasks quietly and diligently, it’s just outstanding. But then there’s Harvey, that literally does it just as excellently, despite not being shown on camera. For the past few episodes, they’ve been constant, if not, they improved. This week’s episode just shows it once again, like during the gas chamber training, we could clearly see Nati as he is the first one in the line and we can see how great he did in the training, but then there’s also Harvey beside him, who goes unnoticed, he also did great being so calm and collected during the training. Just looking at them side by side performing really well despite the harsh training really adds to the admiration I have for them. Also, it’s worth noting, how Harvey thought of saying sorry to the DI for how they laughed during the start of the training. That gesture just shows how thoughtful he is. Gosh, I really am so proud of these boys. I might just add, I’m already Harvey biased ever since their mukbang series videos back when they’re still in high school, so just seeing him shining through this series just overwhelms my heart.
I daresay Harvey showed a bit more resilience to the gas given you could see Natti lost composure for a second when the gas first hit (and he mentioned it after they were let out of the chamber). Harvey was also quickest to remove his filter out of the boys so he had the longest exposure to the gas too. Though I think the DI observing might have frowned upon Harvey unscrewing the filter with one hand as I imagine it would be increase likelihood of dropping it.
@@dezwong2750That also, I mean I generally saw both of them being so calm. But Harvey, man he was just way too calm, it’s so unbelievable and amazing. I also think too that maybe it was just because of how Harvey executes his tasks, like he does it casually even if it was really hard, compare to Nati who seems to do it by the book, that’s why the DI notices Nati more with consideration to formality.
The DI is actually really really nice. Of course he's really strict during training but outside of training field he's really sincere and kind with his words and gave the boys encouragement and credit where it's due.
I understand the DI had to be very, very strict towards them to toughen them up- but tbh, he's a total sweetheart, especially when he complimented Natti. 🤗 It was a great sight to see them talking comfortably with the DI. 💛
Guys i so much admire you in this series. You have to know that! Especially max's optimism, that is quality you should never lose in your life and is gonna get you through some of the hardest things. I absolutely love and adore you guys

Seeing the DI smiling warmly at the young Englishmen was so great. I hope they treasure this experience. Truly, we do not give enough thanks and appreciation to all of the folks who go through this brutal training to then put their lives on the line for the rest of us.
Truly! I honestly appreciate that he is only as tough as he is because it is required. His warmth and kindness showed at the end as he was seeing the boys off for the last time.
Cheers to all of them for volunteering to participate in such a difficult and demanding utube series. Entertaining to watch and difficult at the same times.
22:38 you can see how impress the DI were with Nati, asking him to do lead the salute for the group. Honestly, i felt nervous for Nati in the series but as the episodes go by you can see how level headed he is during the training. Well done boys and KE team! ❤
22:57 nati being told to lead them is so touching aww :') he worked so hard and was probably the most disciplined and welcoming of the whole experience
As a retired US Army soldier I have to admit that I got way too excited about this episode as I knew what was coming. That being said Josh and the boys should be incredibly proud of themselves as they handled that extremely well and have accomplished/done something that a very, very small percentage of people on this earth have had to endure. Love this channel and all the goodwill you spread both in the UK, S. Korea and the world, keep up the great work.
@@jj7065 Every military, and quite a few police forces, and likely firefighters too, do gas training. Tear gas is commonly used not only in warfare but in crowd control in rioting situations. Anyone who is going to be put into those situations SHOULD have to undergo that sort of training, and most do.
"would my mum want me to do this" breaks my heart. As a Mum to a teenager, no, none of us would, ever. However Max, she is immensely proud of you for standing strong with your team.
I loved this episode. As someone who's done 15 months of conscription in Sweden, it's very similar in many regards, and it's very interesting to see the guys coping with it. Also great that you show both their strongest moments, and the moments when they're having a really tough time of it. Everyone is going to cry, that's just a reaction to what you're going to, and i love to see how the boys propped each other up. Great series!
YES! As US Air Force serving in Korea right now, I was waiting for this episode, the gas chamber is an experience everyone loves to talk about and getting to see other nations training, and how similar we all are, and the lads getting to take part in a small portion. Makes my respect for ROK forces and the lads even higher. This channel helped me prepare for my time in Korea, and I've loved it so much I've lived here for almost 5 years now, and even met my wonderful wife stationed in Korea. Thanks for the content always and keep up the good work! Edit: Seeing it now, that's interesting how they do it! We had to fully remove the mask and scream our reporting statement before we could leave. Ours was more about learning to put trust into our equipment, knowing it works and showing how bad it is without it.
nati is officially raise up to be one of my faves. he's smart, stable, unyielding, adapt quickly, humble, & the one who constantly wants to learn new cultures/stuff with such an open mind. well done nati, i think you'll turn to be a fine fine gentleman one day
Shoutout to Mr. Smith for doing it together with them. Couldn't help but feel proud of them for both completing the training & receiving the tags. Especially Nati. Come on, physically wise no one would believe Nati gonna aced this but, he prove everyone's wrong. He's mentally strong, discipline is A++. Thank you Korean Englishmen for making my Wednesday worthy by looking forward to see these not-boys-anymore.
As a fellow 36 year old with questionable fitness it’s unbelievable what Mr Smith achieved. He actually managed to do better than Josh which I never would’ve guessed going into this series.
i feel like he really liked bobby! i think his desire to do everything, even trying to talk them into letting him do the log, definitely put him in their good books
I just found out that Harvey comes from Germanic words meaning "army" and "battle". Harvey, you lived up to your name. Quietly valiant and strong. Natti also impressed me a lot. I genuinely don't know if I would be able to withstand training like this. Kudos to you, lads!👏🏽👏🏽
I love how Nati did well on most of the training. It shows you how it’s not just about the physical aspect of it but mental and brain too… I just relate to that for some reason even if I’m not like a soldier or going into one. Like seeing one’s strength and weaknesses looks different in each person. I loved this series!! I thought I was just watching most food show but I even fell inlove with your channel more! Thank you
That necklace is probably the most memorable and priceless gift that they ever receive. Of course you can buy it somewhere but its not a same, its like an empty vessel
The way Bobby looked would've been how I would feel. It would've been an honor to receive something like that from a different country's military unit.

You know, the entire time I have watched these episodes, I keep wondering what their parents must be feeling. Max totally put the question out there. I felt so bad for him, I could sense the frustration, and he has a legitimate point. The boys did great, sticking through it. And Natti, wow. He did phenomenal. His training is obvious, he kept a cool head throughout it all. Even with the language barrier, he was acting quickly to orders.
@@OctPSfeveroh stop. That was a horrible incident brought on by a DI who was a horrible person.
Agreed! Replying to this comment for more visibility.

How cool would that be, right?!
15:04 Harvey’s first words after almost dying of gas: pretty?
he’s the real one.
that's true 😄
I was never really impressed by Harvey until this military series 😄
He was often overshadowed by others because I saw him rather quiet. But we see, how mature and capable a man he is when pressured. Humans often show their bare selves when put under pressure and Harvey possesses the quality I like to be a friend with.
@@Brevicauda True. The more I watch this series the more I like him. He and Nati stayed so calm during CBR training which really impressed me even.
@@Brevicauda In their first trip he smoked everyone in the water park race. He was second only to Nati in learning to read Korean.
I noticed him coz he was always so grateful saying thankz .....

Yeah. Say what you will about any of their antics but at the end of the day, you can tell these boys were raised well and proper.
I think many western people in general forget to reflect and apologize. The societal ideals are incredibly individualistic which leads to many putting themselves before others. Assuming others must simply conform to and accept their behaviour rather than reflecting on how their behaviour impacts others.
@@Duckduckobtusegoose Wow! That's quite a blanket statement of 'western people in general'.
@@Duckduckobtusegoosei used to study abroad and i can confirmed you are so right!
Ive been observing him since their day one I can tell that he is really hardworking he did his.
Natti really did well in this series. Very proud of him, and to see his characted a lot more
The fact that headmaster Dave was having an allergic reaction in the gas chamber yet was encouraging and taking care of the boys brings a tear to my eye. What a great role model he is. The boys must have been so grateful and relieved to have had him there ❤.
Honestly !
Headmaster Dave is a real one for doing everything alongside them and encouraging them
Their headmaster did lead by example.
Like my principal WOULD NEVER! My principal didn’t even know my name
Yup, Nati and Harvey show a lot of mental strength. Is one of the important traits for a soldier.
Epitome of an underdog story right there 😂.... We love to see it ❤
he's very smart as well. it showed
Max demonstrated that.
imo he have good resilience
I swear!! He needs more recognition. He’s a good lad all around. Definitely a well rounded guy.
Yeah, he looks mischievous but is actually an amazingly polite gentleman with great manners
yess i love harvey man
yeah for real ! harvey's always been my favourite because he's so funny, but also so wholesome and down to earth at the same time
I think Harvey sometimes steps aside to let the other ones shine, but we would really like to see him more!
Poor max! Seeing the most energetic and talkative one crying like that was heartbreaking!

I agree with your statement. Not to minimize the efforts of the other guys but if this was a movie Armand would have had one the best character arcs besides Max who's usually the cheerful, positive guy but broke down in this episode.
Congratulations to all the guys for having survived the boot camp. So proud of y'all
This is what i felt too
Nati and Harvey really excelled through this series.
They should include British born Asians in their videos

Did you see the DI smile when giving Bobby his tags? So cute.
Yessss I think he also finds Bobby soo adorable 😂🥹
Am I the only one that got a little happy seeing the DI smile when he gave Bobby his nametag
That was such a sweet moment ❤!
i feel like he really liked bobby! i think his desire to do everything, even trying to talk them into letting him do the log, definitely put him in their good books
It’s pretty impossible not to like Bobby ,he’s such a sweetheart even though he’s also pretty quiet sometimes
Thank you
I like Harvey,too.

That necklace is probably the most memorable and priceless gift that they ever receive.
Of course you can buy it somewhere but its not a same, its like an empty vessel
The way Bobby looked would've been how I would feel. It would've been an honor to receive something like that from a different country's military unit.

“Enjoy the rest of your lives if we don’t see you again.” I felt that.
18:29 never seen something so relatable as a bloke… while I understand it is almost purely due to lack of sleep, I can go from extremely composed to teary eyed as soon as I think of family and loved ones. I feel bad because I know how vulnerable it feels , so it’s immensely brave of him to do so on camera
come back, man. we miss you

Wow - Max’s tears after the CBR training shows his realization of that life threatening situation. Josh’s kind hug came at the right time. ❤
Recent incident during training, not real war, indicated one of young soldiers died from rough training. What the hell...Is it worth to die for?
@@OctPSfeveroh stop. That was a horrible incident brought on by a DI who was a horrible person. Sadly you’re gonna have people like that in any profession, and hopefully the Korean military does something to correct such criminal treatment. But it is not the standard. I’ve heard of athletes dying in practice due to abusive coaches. That doesn’t mean that the whole sport is like that, just that abusive individual. Same thing here.
Yes it's evident that Harvey and Natty really excels in this series but let's not forget the rest who also gave their best and are courageous enough to face the challenges though they are afraid and the situations are obviously not on their favor. Cheers to the headmaster, Josh, Armand, Max, Jayden, Bobby and all the korean soldiers in the team. You did your best.
Harvey was definitely the calmest throughout the gas chamber room moment. Him at 11:59 taking his filter like it's nothing just gave me chills
some people are definitely more immune to the gas than others though, they will feel it, just a little lesser
@@joesr31 If you aren't calm, it's going to get worse. He's following the instructions and not fumbling around.

Here i am bawling my eyes out again. i love all the series you guys make. And our boys did so well. Love from Norway
From tasting korean street food in high school to participating in military … these boys have grown so much 🥹 when they were receiving the dog tags, they really look like grown men. Thank you to Josh, Ollie and your team for setting this up. This was truly amazing to watch!
22:18 the way he smiled at Bobby is so cute 🥰
he's literally a softie in a tough guy exterior 🥰
No joke, he's a cutie lol
Wow Harvey is an absolute legend through and through. Him wanting to apologise to the DI for the laughing of the boys, him showing Max how to roll his bed, his kindness throughout really shines >< Have become A HUGE fan of his ! Hope he comes out on the channel more !
This was amazing. So tough and everyone is so game. High praise!!! This series has been incredibly interesting.
Keep watching out for each other! The best way to get through the tough times is knowing that you are not going through it alone. Keep that mentality!
Watching this series got me really emotional. I served with US soldiers stationed in Korea (as a KATUSA, which stands for Korean Augmentation to the United States Army) and I had hard time understanding US Army's system, tradition, and commands when I was a Private. These British trainees must have felt the same thing in the boot camp. I just want to say thank you to them for not giving up and trying to respect what the Korean Navy does.
Man, this has been an incredible series. I’ve loved every minute since finding this channel awhile back and here I am, rejoicing with you guys in your hard work, getting emotional with you as you struggle and work through the hard bits. You guys are legends and it’s been a great ride watching you all. Cheers
