- While the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is a nice bonus for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers, it almost certainly means we won't see Mario Kart 9 until the release of a Switch successor.

Oh man Choco Mountain was a quite unexpected choice. I hope to see Sunset Wilds and DK Mountain be next throughout this pass.

I clicked this video because the title gave the impression that this video had official proof or a statement from Nintendo that Mario Kart 9 would not be coming to the Switch. Only to find out that this was 100% speculation and none of it was confirmed. Really wish Clickbait wasn't a thing on RUclips.
Ah man, sorry you feel that way. I guess it is a kind of clickbait title but I didn’t really intend it that way. Finding out that the Booster Course Pass will be rolling out all the way through the end of 2023 almost surely means that a new Mario Kart wouldn’t be coming until at least 2024, and by then I’m sure we’ll be talking about a Switch successor. It’s definitely not 100% confirmed but I do feel like it’s a pretty safe bet, and this is the best hint we’ve had yet at when 9 might actually be coming.

However, the facts are that Nintendo has officially said recently that the Nintendo switch is about half way through it's life cycle, and since it's been about 5 years since it was released, that means that the Switch has about another 5 years to go before being replaced. Taking that fact into account and seeing as the DLC will only extend to the end of next year, that leaves another 3 years of life in the Switch's release cycle before a successor is announced. This would suggest that in that 3 year gap, they could very well release Mario kart 9 as a Switch game and then later carry it over to the next system like how they did here with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I'm just saying, calling it a done deal here when there's still a 3 year gap of unknown possibilities is a bit premature.
@@Stealthbat fair enough. I think that’s where we disagree a little. It’s something I mention in the video - I don’t believe at all that the Switch is now only halfway through it’s lifecycle. Sure, they might support the current version of the Switch for another 5 years, but I’m pretty confident we’ll have a proper successor or Switch iteration by then. Nintendo famously denied the existence of a successor to the DS up until literally one week before the 3DS was unveiled. I really think it’s just PR speak, wanting people to continue buying the existing Switch hardware as long as possible and not have them hold off because of a potential successor on the horizon. Totally fair point that this is not a done deal, and Mario Kart 9 could end up being cross-gen (another thing I mention) but the title literally came to me when watching the direct, hearing them say the DLC will release all the way through the end of 2023, and saying out loud “we’ll I guess Mario Kart 9 won’t be coming to the current Switch. Either way though, I appreciate the feedback. I think you can see from my other vids that I’m not really trying to go the clickbait angle, but thanks for being civil about your criticism
