Magistrally executed. The mission in game is already a nightmare but somewhat edulchorated as we only have the sky's point of view. Here we also witness what the boots on ground saw. Amazing. The only thing missing are civillians trying to run away and firefighters trying to coordinate the evacuations. Some people evocated on another video that there should be the possibility to shoot down the friendly bombers and join AWWNB. I support that idea.
DCS sadly has its limits but appreciate the feedback! I think this mission should have been told thru the POV of Pixy and PA should have included the cut mental breakdown he has during the operation

I was going for a look that showed Lancelot's (Pixy in this story) sword dividing Arthur's (Cipher) kingdom as he attempts to slay the white dragon (a symbol of foreign influence or the Saxons in England at the time the legend was popularized)
The world definitely needs more mashups of DCS and PS2-era Ace Combat. Best crack at it I'd seen before this was "We Are Aces" by beterhans, 15 years ago during the LOMAC days. It was impossibly epic back then, but compared to the DCS trailers we get now, it's pretty simple.
With all the references to hope and hell, you can only imagine Pixy looking down and seeing hell on earth. To him, the world is no longer worth fighting for, as it's clearly destroying itself anyway. You've captured it perfectly with this video. Zero is the most well-written game of this franchise.
This has been a true recreation of the mission and it saddens me that there was more sadness that I did not take into account. My brother and I felt chills as the guitar slowed its tempo at the end and the after images of the city in fire. True work indeed. Thank you

Ive never played ace combat,but any Ace Combat mission adapted to a DCS Film will be the most impressive yet a depressing reminder that any war will make people lose their humanity. (Example:The scene where the Belkan HQ ordered the belkan Bombers to bomb their own infrastructure,even tho its possible that theres workers of the power plant,ground troops,even civilians who are possibly the families of the workers or just normal civilians in Hoffnung. All of them dead. So the Allied forces wouldnt capture the city so they can use it as a base/FOB etc.) Good god,thats some MGS writing there holy hell.
The OG mission was already bad from the sky, but you never really saw the scope of just how horrible the mission itself was. This video made me tear up a little bit. It is the perfect representation that war doesn't bring glory and victory, it only brings carnage and pointless deaths. Very well done.

I remember playing this mission in AC0. When going in Ace Style as Mercenary - I just went fully on killing spree, never took much attention what happened around. Much later, when I've played as Knight... Hell. Literal Hell made by atrocites done in Hoffnung. That scream of factory worker when Fuel Tank C exploded... Seems like perspective also depends of your Ace Style. Anyway - well done.
The Ace Style does change some dialogues in the missions. Another example is the start of Glacial Skies the drink mentioned at the start of the mission change based on it, rum for mercenary, whiskey for soldier and wine for knight
In many difficulties when the mission started. You just go to oil tank (neutral target) and destroy it. You can trigger the civillian screamin dialogue.
I almost love this video more than the actual mission. The Inferno in game is dark and scary, designed specifically to tempt you into destroying everything, but the choice of music and cinematography in this video really helps accentuate what a tragedy it was.

This absolutely stuns. It's a shame so many of us missed out on Ace Combat Zero after having fatigue from AC4 and AC5. (I had seen some plot summaries, but didn't dust off the PS3 and play it until after I finally woke up earlier this year and played Ace Combat 7.) It's the greatest Ace Combat game of all time, and you've illustrated why in this video.

Pixy was fucking delusional and would’ve caused Hoffnung-level atrocities 12 times over if he had his way. He even acknowledged trying to nuke everyone was a terrible idea that wouldn’t have changed a thing later on.
If you revisit this. I would try adding voice clips from the game for this mission that weren't actually used in the game. And yes, if you thought the base mission was saddening, the unused voices are more disturbing.

I never understood this mission when I first played this back when I was a kid. I thought it was the usual mission to destroy targets without knowing the story behind it. I feel this was Pixy's breaking point and that's why he defected Ustio in Mission 12, which is Stage of the Apocalypse. The mission after the Inferno.
There's both, but unfortunately many would glorify the Mayhem style, and would rather forget about the Inferno style... And so history repeats the same step, the same old play, same old lines, replayed just by different characters on different stages... And they all results in the same pile of ghosts.
Holy...Shit. This is really something. Excellent application of the cut dialogue as well! And the choices of callsigns for unnamed ally/enemy units is masterful as well. Edit: And I'd said all that before the Spirits came in. While technically not in the mission as we played it, I'd argue it makes the mood hit all the harder.
The Belkans were losing, and losing badly, so they'd already started setting fire to strategic assets like fuel depots, factories, and anything else that could be of value to the advancing Allied Forces, and *then* the B-52s you're escorting start dropping bombs and force the Belkans to go from setting controlled burns to just torching every single thing they can before they can get out of the city carrying anything they can in a panic. Then they set off a bunch of nukes at their border a couple days later. Then they spend the rest of the franchise starting conflicts behind the scenes, as revenge.
I imagine this is what Dresden would have looked like, only more brutal and horrifying, more people died from suffocation rather than the bombs themselves

Replaying Zero cause why not. Literally just replayed this mission again. I didn't even let what looked like a civilian helicopter leave the AO, let alone the truck that was carrying the wounded soldier. Both of them gone, with a trigger pull. That c130 that's trying to escape? Also gone. I wish the game gave us more opportunities to take out retreating forces if our ace style was mercenary.
The crazy part is that this is a _whitewashed_ version of events; canonically the Tomahawk Pixy's talking about is friendly, and supposedly you can actually see it as a allied blip before it impacts. Was that intentional as an in-universe thing (since going by the Grunder logo this is a postwar video)? Bravo if so.
Another fun fact about said Tomahawk. Going by the Tomahawk's model (Seen more clearly in datamines), it wasn't Ustio or Osea specifically. The Yukes launched that one (It has 'Yuktobanian Air Force' written on it). It makes sense, considering they were part of the Allied Forces, but yeah, the Yukes decided to take part in bombing Hoffnung.

Replaying Zero cause why not. Literally just replayed this mission again. I didn't even let what looked like a civilian helicopter leave the AO, let alone the truck that was carrying the wounded soldier. Both of them gone, with a trigger pull. That c130 that's trying to escape? Also gone. I wish the game gave us more opportunities to take out retreating forces if our ace style was mercenary.

The crazy part is that this is a _whitewashed_ version of events; canonically the Tomahawk Pixy's talking about is friendly, and supposedly you can actually see it as a allied blip before it impacts. Was that intentional as an in-universe thing (since going by the Grunder logo this is a postwar video)? Bravo if so.
You can actually see it being fired from the direction of the allied tanks that spawn south of the map, so I believe it was intentional
Another fun fact about said Tomahawk. Going by the Tomahawk's model (Seen more clearly in datamines), it wasn't Ustio or Osea specifically. The Yukes launched that one (It has 'Yuktobanian Air Force' written on it). It makes sense, considering they were part of the Allied Forces, but yeah, the Yukes decided to take part in bombing Hoffnung.
