    It's great to see you back! I was only saying to my wife yesterday, "I've not seen one of Jonathan's videos from OMA for a while". I'm also an alcoholic. I've never tried psychedelics, but Buddhist meditation is what got me off the sauce. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Way to go! I have long believed in psychedelics for addiction and playing and listening to music as well as mental, emotional and spiritual growth.
    I'm now 70 years old. I grew up with alcoholic parents and experienced lots of psychological and physical abuse that drove me to drugs very early on; drinking and smoking cigarettes and marijuana by 12. I started taking LSD at 14. On one of those trips I distinctly got the message that I could/would never be an alcoholic. Well, for several years more I was still in party mode but the hold of impending, imminent addiction was broken forever. The positive effects psychedelics has on music & the mind is immeasurable! I imagine it's helped your speaker designs also. I've always loved your speakers' looks. Unfortunately, I'm not in that tax bracket and, being on the West coast and seriously physically disabled nowadays (for non-addiction reasons), I can't make an appointment to experience them. Congratulations, Jonathan on your success over the "demon alcohol"! It's rare for me to comment on YT vids but I was moved by yours. Stay well, brother! BTW, I'm a new sub because of this vid!

    The psychedelics helped you to remember yourself. In Zen it’s called satori,…a small enlightenment. Osho once said,..“ the greatest misfortune is to forget ourselves and the highest Ecstasy is to remember ourselves. You were very lucky. Thank you for sharing this experience.🙏

    That took a lot of courage to talk about and it felt very honest. I hope that you remain in the very best of health to continue your good work. Standard treatments for addiction have generally disappointing results and more research in to psychedelic therapies is definitely required.

    Thanks Jonathan ... congratulations on your journey. I have my own experience with mushrooms and music. It totally lets you hear music in a way not possible. You get to see sound ... like your Consciousness becomes an equalizer ... not all music was producing healing visuals while others produced healing visuals. In my journey with psychedelics, I have quit marijuana and porn which I was both highly addicted to… like you I don’t need to use will power to stop ... I just have no interest in these things anymore after my experience with mushrooms.. I am curious how psychedelics would be like listening to music with your speakers though ... as just using normal earbuds, the music just takes on a quality and richness that is indescribable ... the documentary that I watched that changed my view on mushrooms was Fantastic Fungi ... highly recommended

    The difference between your case and many other addicts is that you wanted to give up. My experience of an ex partner is that they could not do this because they would never admit alcoholism or seek treatment. You cannot treat one who does not see the necessity of their predicament.

    Your theory on this whole "sound quality" aspect of sound delivered during psychedic experiences is interesting, but I feel is probably flawed. The fact is, that most people don't care about, much less even notice the differences between very basic audio quality and audio reproduced with much higher quality gear. One would then need to ask themselves whether the act of being on a psychedlic drug is necissarily going to make one apprecaite high fidelity sound who didn't appreciate it before. If what you say is true, then you could sell a lot of high end audio gear by dosing folks and having them listen to music on really fine audio gear. They would then have such a great memorable experience with it that the memory would be imprinted on their brain, and they would be wanting to replicate some of that experience when they're straight. I suspect that the kind of people who are most deeply effected by hearing music on quality audio gear when they are in the midst of a psychedic trip, are the same people who already have a taste for high quality audio...

    • @theHermit9
      @theHermit9 2 месяца назад +2

      I can report that I wasn’t into high quality audio until after taking psychedelics. Being on psychedelics enhanced the music so much that listening to music normally felt lacking. It led me to upgrade my equipment which enhanced the psychedelic experience even more so. I saw a huge connection in the quality of sound (as well as the right music) having a huge impact on the visuals and quality/depth of the journey ... psychedelics definitely turned me on a journey of finding the best equipment (that I can afford) to reproduce sound ... before psychedelics, I was content with stock earbuds.
